What does it even mean to say that a player is athletic but not explosive or fluid? The numbers are the numbers and Campbell is off the charts. The coaches are just asking him to do a lot and he is not yet instinctive. He will get there.

There are two sides to the equation. Detroit was clearly not ready for GB. Campbell admitted as much. Campbell also talked about how much prep work his coaching staff did on a short week -- not much. So did Lafleur. GB's staff put in more work game planning than Detroit's did. Detroit got outplayed and outcoached.

No but after the previous two games —and seasons — GB wanted to punch Detroit in the mouth. Lafleur said they had the game circled. Campbell said he didn’t have his team prepared. I take them both at face value.

Agree. Lafleur came right out and said they had the Lions game circled on their calendar. Detroit is going to get the best effort from their opponents from here on out.

Yes, if anything they reach too much on health risks. Jaymo, Levi, Paschal, Moseley. How’s that working out? Then with the reach on Martin you have to scrape the bottom of the barrel for DL depth.

I feel confident that Campbell will be better. They ask a lot out of him and seemingly all of their defensive players, and he is just not yet at a point where he can play instinctively. This is why he is a step slow. Holmes whiffed on Levi and Martin. At this point they can’t assume they will get anything out of Levi. And this team is still not good enough that you can draft not just one but two guys in the third and develop them. It is not a good sign for Martin that he’s behind a cast-off sixth rounder Bohanna on the depth chart. This team needs CJGJ back in the worst way.

Agree. But Sorsdal and Awosika are not accustomed to playing to any level. One of them will need to improve markedly or Jonah Jackson will have to return.

It shouldn’t but it has. Not scientific but I calculated in another post that the team has scored 4 ppg more with Jackson in than with a backup. And Goff’s ugliest games have come with Jackson on the sideline. There is a huge drop off from a pro bowl player and a rookie from a program that has sent just three players to the NFL in the last decade.

Everybody loses when they are -3 for turnovers. We need Jonah Jackson back. The OL has not worked without him, and Goff has not been able to hold on to the ball. Does Irvin get activated on Sunday? Does he have anything left in the tank? Can Houston and/or CJGJ get activated by the Dallas game? If not, Detroit is going to have to put up 38 points to win most of the games left on the schedule

Are we going to get Bruce Irvin next Sunday? Will he make an impact?

This was the weekend when Detroit lost its chance at the top seed.
