  1. They’re in the film room. We aren’t.
  2. Yes, that’s the only route I see to Anderson. Sure Detroit could try to trade up but they’d have to outbid one or more teams desperate to trade their draft future for a QB in a box. It would be an insane price But Pete is a wild card.
  3. They don’t count Anzalone’s 2021 season against him the way fans do. They know the defense was a mess that season, and last season until the AP firing. They are projecting his contributions to the team’s play down the stretch into future performance, maintaining continuity in their defense, and still paying him at the low end of the FA range. It’s not a splashy move but is perfectly reasonable.
  4. If Anderson is everything everyone thinks he is, don’t you think Arizona will just pick him at 3? And if Arizona doesn’t think he is great enough to take at 3 and is entertaining trades, doesn’t that make us wonder if he is worth giving up a massive trade package for? And if Arizona has the pick for sale, don’t we think they are looking for a QB hungry team to make a QB hungry trade? If Arizona trades the pick they will be expecting a mid-round first this year and at least a first next year with multiple other picks. Anderson is not happening unless QBs go 1-4 and Pete Carroll falls in love with Carter (less likely after the workout) or Wilson.
  5. I’ve heard about twenty minutes of Moving the Chains on Sirius XM over the past two days. They’ve had three callers asking about Detroit’s RB situation.
  6. One year, $4.5 million. I guess he will backup Ragnow at C but they will be drafting OL.
  7. Drafting OL early is a safe bet. That was the only kind of bet Quinn made until he put all his chips on his boy Fatty P.
  8. Someone send him VHS tapes of Warren Moon! He’s a better comp anyway.
  9. I feel confident that Holmes does his homework. People are still upset about the Anzalone deal but we don’t know what it is. Undoubtedly it is far more team-friendly than it appears. And I think the coaching staff knows Anzalone better and values him more highly than fans do.
  10. There must be something else he likes about Vick and Watson. Can’t quite put my finger on it.
  11. It seems less likely since Carolina traded to #1. (I thought they might pick up the fourth QB at 6, giving Detroit the 9 and a second for the privilege. Instead they traded their next three drafts because the owner and and GM and coach don't seem to agree on who they want.) They will pick a QB, Houston will at 2, the Colts will at 4. If someone wants to trade up for a QB, they will likely trade up to 3 rather than 6. But maybe Arizona stays put and takes Anderson and Richardson is hanging out there when the Lions go on the clock. And maybe something crazy happens with Baltimore and they suddenly need a QB. OTOH, I've seen a mock draft that has QBs going 1, 2, 3, 4, and Seattle taking Tyree Wilson at 5, leaving Anderson at 6. We can keep our fingers crossed.
  12. Still haven't seen the Anzalone terms. DetroitLions.com doesn't even say the dollar amount, just that "additional terms were not disclosed." https://www.detroitlions.com/news/lions-re-sign-lb-alex-anzalone-to-contract-extension-through-the-2025-season Makes me wonder if only the first year is guaranteed. And AAV is $6.25 million, but it's probably spread out more like $5.5 million, $6 million, $7.25 million, where he'll never see the third year.
  13. Just listening to Pat Kirwan. He says he thinks Bijan will be off the board before pick 9. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  14. Yes, this has stuck in my mind about Anderson. People say a lot of things about prospects. By definition you don’t have a generational prospect every draft. I like that he’s bulked up. But it still seems moot, especially since Carter is sinking like a stone.
  15. Anderson is small. Just 235 lbs. Detroit doesn’t have anyone on the DL that small. I guess size hasn’t been an issue for Micah Parsons who is listed at 245. But that’s my concern about Anderson… who almost certainly won’t drop to 6 anyway.
  16. This whole circus is exactly what I need to get me through to draft day! Couldn't happen to a more deserving franchise, either. So arrogant after 30 years of HOF QB play that they can kick a multiple MVP winner to the curb and think they’ll move on to another star. Now let’s hope this leads them to 30 years of QB purgatory.
  17. Except Jamaal. I don’t know why, but I have a picture in my head of Jamaal standing on one side of the bargaining table doing his signature hip thrusts and saying, “Come on Mr. Brad, let’s get it done,” and Holmes looking unimpressed.
  18. Yes, it is one thing to get sucked into racing when it appears the whole team is doing it. It is another thing altogether to blow off prep for the job interview when a $35 million offer is at stake.
  19. Swift was at the top of the league with 3.8 yards before contact per rushing attempt. Craig Reynolds had 3.0 ybc/carry. Jamaal had 2.5 (reflecting his short yardage usage). Montgomery had just 2.1. Montgomery had 1.9 yards after contact. Jamaal had 1.6, Reynolds 1.5, Swift 1.7. With the extra yard or so before contact that this OL will provide him, Montgomery should have a nice season.
  20. Add me to the list of people who think Carter now has to be off the board. If you cannot even manage your weight and perform basic workouts, you cannot be drafted in the top 5-10 picks. Gonzalez is probably the guy. Sutton gives you an #1 for the next few seasons, and while Okudah and Moseley will compete for #2, neither of them can be wholly relied on even this season and certainly not next.
  21. Montgomery was near top of the league in broken tackles, his OL was near the bottom of the league in protecting him from contact after scrimmage. Just 1.19 yards before contact for his carries.
  22. Walter Football hates it so much he gave it a grade of Millen! But he gave the Anzalone signing a B+. Chicago fans seem upset to lose Montgomery, and I like that Holmes was disciplined and held his ground with Willams.
  23. I don’t think so. Swift has one year left. Maybe he’ll be healthy for it. Montgomery for three years.
  24. This is Brad Holmes not overpaying for Jamaal Williams.
