Early last season when it looked like Goff’s regression was worsening, I said I wouldn’t be surprised if the Lions signed the resurgent Geno then drafted AR to sit behind him. It wouldn’t be a total shock if Seattle did that. Deal is reported as 3 years, $105 million with $52 million in first year guarantees. It probably amounts to something like a two-year $65 million contract if Seattle chooses to move on before year three. Wouldn’t Schneider and Carroll love to make a star out of Geno then a super star out of AR just to rub Wilson’s face in the dirt?

The funniest outcome would be Rodgers going to the Jets and winning the Super Bowl while the Jordan Love Packers finish the season at the bottom of the league.
-
Maybe. Again, I don't expect it but if Stroud falls into their laps it's anyone's guess.

I think this will be one of the most interesting and consequential drafts for Detroit in years. Would it surprise me if they stayed safe at 6 and picked Gonzalez/Wilson/Murphy? No. Would it surprise me if they stayed there and picked Skoronski? No. Would it surprise me if they traded back to 9 or 11 and picked up a third second-round pick in a draft that is not top-heavy but deep? No. Would it surprise me if Stroud or Anderson fell to 6 and they picked him? At this point, no. And if the chips fall so they pick Stroud, would it surprise me if they trade Goff for another 1st round pick? No, not really. I think they really like him, but if Stroud falls into their lap maybe they take him and use Goff's salary to sign a top tier CB and DT along with some more depth pieces. Just feels like this draft might be really, really wild for Lions fans.

I meant Anthony Richardson, not Bijan Robinson. Before the draft most mocks had him in the middle of the first round, too late to impact Detroit’s first pick. I saw one post-combine mock with Richardson going at 7. But at this point I just can’t imagine him lasting that long. And I saw another mock where he went one and Stroud went at 7. I guess I’m starting to feel more optimistic that Richardson’s rise will result in options for Holmes to deal.

After the combine, is there any chance that Richardson will last past the sixth overall pick?
-
I’d be happy with 18, concerned at 6. But I’m not convinced of the value of anyone likely to be there at 6.

Charlie Campbell has had Robinson mocked to Detroit at #18 for a while, and yes the comp one of his sources gave him was Faulk. https://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2023BRobinson.php

A whole article and all Meinke says is that Levi is still in rehab. What was the injury? What was the surgery? He doesn’t know. https://www.mlive.com/lions/2023/03/former-second-round-pick-levi-onwuzurike-still-rehabbing-back-injury-for-lions.html

For a long time I thought Tiger Woods was a brand of golf clubs.

Witherspoon was on next. He literally said, “I got that dawg in me.” I could see them going for Witherspoon at 18 but not six. PS: Your boy Charlie Campbell has Witherspoon slipping to the mid first due to size concerns. And that was before he wasn’t able to perform at the combine.

Pat Kirwan used to be a coach and front office guy. He likes to ask the combine guys softball questions about scheme, then if they give a good answer, he digs deeper. He had Gonzalez talking about all the coverages, when Oregon ran what against who, and Gonzalez was eating it all up. Kirwan never got to those questions with Witherspoon. Also, Gonzalez talked about his athletic family. The guy is a thoroughbred and he knows it. Has that swagger that you want a CB to have, but you don't have to worry he's going to go all Pacman Jones on you. If they took him at 6 I wouldn't be upset.
-
Imagine being the guy who shows up at LCA in a Vrana jersey.
-
He didn't make them get rid of Davante Adams, and he didn't make them pick Jordan Love instead of Tee Higgins.
-
Pretty good pair… in 2012.
-
Fast for a guy that big. He was on Moving the Chains last night, before they had Witherspoon on. Gonzalez came off very polished when they asked him about various techniques. Witherspoon came to football later in life and talked about toughness. If they pick one of them at six I hope it is Gonzalez.
-
Who was he throwing to?

Holmes: “It’s easier to get worse at QB than it is to get better.” Interviews Richardson at combine. Fans: Let’s trade Goff to Minnesota and sign Jimmy G as a bridge to Richardson. I guess anything is possible, and I do expect Holmes to make a bold move in the draft. But drafting Richardson at 6 is not it.
-
I don’t believe there is any chance they will take a QB at 6. That said, they have to do due diligence. It would be irresponsible for them not to interview Richardson. Also, for competitive reasons they cannot signal that they are not considering QBs who may fall to 6.
-
If he's truly an every down back, he lights up the combine, and he is there at 18, well, 🤷♂️.
-
Well, I guess the dorks on Reddit will have to quit talking about “2z” now. It’s a shame he wasn’t dealt last season, but how could Stevie know he was going to have such bad puck luck this season? It always seemed that this season was too early to expect a playoff run, but I’m not SY.
-
Whaaa??? Big if true. I heard speculation it was spinal fusion surgery and return to action was doubtful at best. Would be fantastic if that is wrong.
-
Was anyone enthused when they signed John Cominsky? No. But he turned out to be one of the team’s most valuable defensive players. They didn’t say they were sitting out free agency, but they did say they will fill roles and not look to one FA signing to get them over the hump. That makes perfect sense. And if they can fill holes through FA, Holmes has demonstrated that he will be aggressive to get game changing players through the draft. I think this will be a fascinating draft for Lions fans, and I suspect Holmes will make at least one major move that catches everyone by surprise.
-
Yes, it doesn’t seem like there is a CB worthy of a 6. Maybe someone blows up the combine and that changes. There is no clear hierarchy to the DL prospects, beyond the top two. Ideally Holmes finds us a game wrecker there but it seems like all of the scouting reports have some kind of asterisk. (Which is why I wouldn’t be surprised to see them go with the guard/future RT.)
