  1. Road House.

Went in expecting nothing. Did it suck? Surprisingly no. I was entertained. Lots of great humor especially from McGregor which was so over the top. I mean really over the top.

Plot was thin (duh). Soundtrack was lacking the charm of the original.

Still at the end of it I was entertained and amused because I went in with low expectations.

    Also: stay through the credits.

    Evidence

This is an interesting thought line that atheists often take. I say look around. If you see a building, you know someone created it. You probably never saw it being built or designed but you can see it so it is natural to think it was created and that it didn’t come out of nothing.

I think it takes WAY more faith to believe that everything we know of was just created from nothing and yet we know that matter can neither be created or destroyed.

I look at something like an eye and how it works and have to wonder how people can think there was not some intelligent design behind it. That it came from nothing. If there is anything that should be scoffed at, it’s the silly notion that all of this…all that is seen and unseen…came from nothing.

    But you do you.

Damn, Richard Lewis died. Love him playing off Larry David in Curb and loved him in Robin Hood Men in Tights. RIP Richard Lewis.

I honestly thought he died a year ago.

I wonder how much of this is lifestage versus generation, i.e., kids across the eras coming into the workforce and doing the bare minimum, then straightening up as get older and they mature. I seem to remember most of my fellow young boomers being ****-arounds when we were all working at Dinos Pizzas and Burger Chefs and Perry Drugs and Chatham supermarkets, and back then, so was I.

I think there is a lot of truth in that but there is a definite difference in loyalties. For instance, the greatest generation would lie about their age to serve their country and there is no way that’s happening now.

Granted that might not be a great example given that people back then probably had more trust for the interests of the government whereas I think that is all but gone now  (and rightfully so)

  5. I have leadership that gets mad if people check their email while on vacation. They know what it is for and as long as the auto reply is on, there is no need to catch any “important” communication. It will get handled.

“if we can’t operate because you’re gone for two weeks then we’ve made a huge error” had been stated many times.

Phones have a lot to do with it.  People can't do for themselves without using a phone now.  I think smartphone and social media addiction is as potentially dangerous as a drug addiction.    People need that Dopamine hit.  Keep checking checking for likes and clicks.   They can't function without it.   Improvisation?  Yeah, right.

Friday night I was at a concert and I watched as a mid-40s woman would put her phone away for about 45 seconds and then was right back on it.

    so yeah, it’s an addiction.

I am old guy here.  Sometimes Millennials really annoy me.    Look, they are getting screwed.  Higher education is more expensive than ever and outpacing other increasing costs.  And I think much of the University system is a big scam, people in the biz for profit.  Yes, higher education has to be re-imagined, but the powers that run it won't change anything because they are hitting it big.    The job market sucks as they are carrying a bunch of debt, but I don't think they seem to understand that you need to work a lot of crappy jobs before you start getting good ones.   Sometimes outside their field, sometimes inside.     The cost of things to do for entertainment like concerts, sports and even basic dining are out of control too, but that effects everyone.     Just annoyed at a Millennial in my family who thinks working more than 20 hours is too much because there is no time to do the stuff he likes.    Welcome to Adulthood, young man.   They don't give you any 4th-place trophies.

    I know.  "OK Boomer"

Life is hard.    Paying dues is part of it unless you have a life-changing idea.

I think the older millennials are figuring it out. They’re miffed at the young millennials and GenZ.

I got yelled at by Al Kaline in a camp because I caught my balls wrong.  I guess it was like how Rickey Henderson would do it.  The ball would fall into my glove as my glove was a few inches to the left of my face and I would have my hand right there ready to throw.  I played LF for 4 years in HS and the sun would set to my right as I am facing the plate so when I would use my hand to block it that was the best way to do it.  I played on that same field for probably 10 years so it was a solid habit.  I never dropped a ball, I had a cannon for an arm if I must brag.   I never changed.  I liked being able to see the ball the entire time

I mean, that’s a fun story and all but ya gotta come up with better Al Kaline stories to keep up with @The Ronz 😎

Does anybody actually like it when they go meet someone for drinks or dinner or a bite to eat.

    No. 🤣

As to the rest of it, I like that the music is there as filler because my social battery drains quickly.

  10. Recently watched Suicide Squad (the one with the shark guy).

it’s like Guardians of the Galaxy if GoG wasn’t funny, engaging, entertaining or interesting in any way, shape, form or matter.
