Hurts and the Eagles offense looked like **** tonight and are going to lose. It's too bad we aren't surging at the right time, late in the season like prior years. We'd be able to catch Philly if this was how they were playing and we were actually playing better.

His decision to go for it in the second quarter was not the right decision.

Does it feel like this season when a team gets a second look at the Lions, ie a division opponent, they improve against us and we don't make adjustments and get better? I know, we beat the Bears the last time by adjusting late in the game and winning. But it feels like both Chicago and Green Bay adjust to our gameplan and we don't as effectively to them.

Dan Campbell in the post game interview with TJ Lang: "It was discipline that cost us. Not effort, not coaching, not scheme." Coaching accepting no blame I see.

I said this the other week, but if they somehow blow the division and miss the playoffs then we're having a whole different conversation that we don't want to have to have.

Even if they limp into the playoffs it sure feels like they'll get smoked and be one and done.

My lord, if the Packers win tomorrow this town is going to be in full panic mode about the division. Really not looking forward to that.

I think this regime suffers at least a small bit from smartest guys in the room syndrome. We don't need to make aggressive moves at the deadline, we don't need to change our scheme, we don't need to make substantive schematic changes. We like our team, we like our coaching staff, everything's fine. We've been struggling on one side of the ball or the other and we've been able to masquerade our struggles with a few wins.

The offense has looked bad all day and now the defense is melting down too. This is increasingly feeling like a loss.

Nah, they're winning today. I have enough confidence in Campbell and Johnson to right the ship and put up a solid offensive performance and go out and get the job done.

I don't believe this team is nearing the edge of the cliff, despite what some fans think and despite their less than great play 4 of the last 5 weeks. I think the Lions do it Cosmo Kramer-style today and TCB! That said, I still think the defense struggles against yet another mobile QB and struggles in the pass rush department. Lions 27-Bears 21.

I don't want to keep talking about Chase Young after this. Young might be a total flop for the Niners and so be it if he is. I'm sure if he is we'll have a year's worth on condescending posts about "you wanted Chase Young and he sucks". If he works out for the 49'ers I'm sure little will be said. Unless he is a locker room disruption like an Antonio Brown or a really lazy player on the field, I see the trade as low risk/high reward for the them. They only had to pay him around $560,000 for the remainder of the year and give up a 3rd to get him. If he doesn't work out and the Niners don't resign him they are getting a comp pick back anyways. That comp pick is quite possibly a 3rd itself, which will replace what they traded away. If he works out they win big. If he doesn't and they choose not to resign him and they get a compensatory 3rd in return then it seems like their biggest loss will have been $560k and a few draft spots back in the 3rd round. It's a risk I was willing to take and others were not, fair and fine all around.

The worst team in the league that won't score 5 goals over their next 3 games after this. Ugggggghhh, gotta pull this one out.
