What I've been saying all along, condition military aid based on Netanyahu's current and future actions. If he does a full scale ground invasion of Rafah and tens-of-thousands more civilians die, and a famine breaks out, condemn the invasion and act upon the conditions put in place regarding military aid to Israel. Also, cancel the sale of the F-15 fighter jets that were planned to be sold to the IDF. Also, to continue to strongly condemn Netanyahu for his brazen actions to thwart democratic institutions in Israel and work to build relations with opposition leadership to restore democracy in Israel. All of this can be done simultaneously to condemning Hamas and working to bring new leadership to Gaza that is Palestinian controlled. Trying to obliterate Hamas by invading Rafah, prolonging the war, and occupying Gaza will work about as well as trying to obliterate the Taliban in Afghanistan. You'll end up with a permanent occupation that breeds more extremism, hatred, and ultimately violent terrorists. Have we learned nothing from occupying Afghanistan for the last 20 years? What's your plan?

He was a White House staffer and Director of Speech Writing while Biden served in Obama's White House as VP. The point is that people like Favreau and Tommy Vietor aren't low level staffers or radical left wing shmucks being critical of the administrations policies towards the Israeli war effort. Now you are starting to see respected elected officials, who are center/center-left types not progressives, like a Chris Murphy, come out and critique and change US policy towards the Israeli war effort. If we sit idly by and continue to send munitions and weapons to Israel while they do a full scale invasion of Rafah it's only going to get worse, both in terms of the death toll in Gaza and in terms of the political situation at home for Biden. Banging your head against the wall and shouting Hamas could stop this at any time isn't an effective political strategy for the Biden administration. It hasn't worked to this point and won't make the situation any better IMO.

Favreau worked for the Obama/Biden administration as the Director of Speechwriting. So it wasn't like he was some office assistant fetching coffee and getting faxes. He's got some high level credibility in my eyes.

Watching Chris Hayes tonight he had on Senator Chris Murphy and even he's on national TV criticizing Isreali war efforts and being at least semi critical of the Biden administration. This has gone beyond just tankies on the left being critical of the war effort and limited change in US policy towards Bibi's war.

When Obama and Biden's own former staffers, like Favreau and the Pod Save America crew, are coming out against the administration's policy towards Isreal I think that speaks loudly. These tankies, far left people, or whatever people want to call people who dare to criticize Bibi. These are rational, run of the mill Dems.

We need to drop the military aid we're giving without condition and place actual, tenable conditions on that aid and hold Isreal to it. We also need to publicly call out Bibi, just as we have called out Hamas, for who he is and what he's attempted to do to democracy in Isreal. The public criticism needs to be ratcheted up and the military aid needs to either be restricted with heavy conditions or stopped entirely imo. Even former Biden staffers who host a nationally recognized podcast, who are loyalists of his, are demanding he do more publicly and change direction towards Israel.

And then the refs are going to throw a flag and we will proceed to learn about some obscure rule that we have never heard of before and it will be overturned. Then, everyone here and collectively across Lions fandom will lose their minds. Then, in the offseason, only after the obscure rule that no one has ever heard of has cost the Lions a game, will that be reviewed and changed.

When I think about support for Israel under Netanyahu I think back to Harry Truman and his view of supporting Spain so as long as Francisco Franco was in power. While Franco was himself a full blown dictator in Spain and Bibi is not quite there yet, Netanyahu is hell bent on becoming one. Truman had the belief that you couldn't negotiate with or treat on equal footing a country like Spain so as long as Franco was in power. Now, would I go as far as Truman did and keep Israel out of the UN? Of course not, there are plenty of nation states, led by worse people than Bibi, whose countries are apart of the UN. Many of them right there in the Arab region. I do think the US needs to take a much tougher diplomatic tact with Israel, akin to what Truman did with Spain and Franco's government. I think we need to condition and/or outright stop military aid until this war gets under control and Netanyahu's power grab is brought under control. Israel has a right to defend itself, but with the death toll rising over 30,000, a famine outbreak likely, and the Israel government now targeting aid workers, something has to be done on our end speak out against the assault Bibi and the IDF are waging on Gaza. There comes a point where self defense crosses the line and where measurable objectives (like getting hostages home) need to be met. Israel is crossing the line on self defense and Bibi is not meeting one of his own, major, self proclaimed objectives.

We are selling F-15's to the State of Israel, which is run by Netanyahu and his Likud government. The Israeli Prime Minister acts as a defacto Commander in Chief and as a result this is Netanyahu's war that the IDF is waging. By selling F-15's to Netanyahu's government, during the midst of a war they are waging, that is the United States showing its support for both the State of Israel being lead by Netanyahu and the war being also lead by Netanyahu. You cannot divorce Netanyahu from Israel, most especially when he is trying an authoritarian power grab to become a dictator and end democratic government in that country. You can no more divorce him from Israel than you could Trump from this country when he attempted to install a dictatorship here on January 6th.

He's been WR #3 in Cincinnati since Chase got there. So I would wonder if he's looking for WR #2 money and target share in what may be his final chance at a big-ish or long term contract given that he's 29. Is he holding out on what the market is offering him or is the market not offering him a deal right now because of his contractual demands? I'm certain he will cost us more in years and dollars than Reynolds would have to resign because he's a better player. I don't know that he's a significant upgrade though at this point in his career over Reynolds. If it was just her lone allegation, I'd likely be more skeptical than I am of the allegation. But when you couple what she alleged Clinton did to her, rape, with what he did or is alleged to have done to other women like Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, and Monica Lewinsky, I begin to see a pattern. I think there are lots of great, useful, campaign surrogates that Joe Biden has to chose from. Including a former President in Barack Obama. There are dozens and dozens of federal, state, and locally elected surrogates he could use as well. I don't care in this instance what Clinton did on policy. I'm not even bringing up his grifts as Governor (Whitewater, cattle source future trades) or President (1996 campaign finance concerns). I do care about the moral fiber of the people representing and raising money for our candidate Joe Biden. Clinton isn't morally a good person and shouldn't be out there representing Biden or any Democrat. I want Biden to succeed and he doesn't need Bill Clinton to be successful and win re-election. Nor does he need George W. Bush. I've already blown this thread up enough with my Clinton talk. I won't weaponize my comments to create any further mass destruction in this thread by commenting on Bush being a potential surrogate.

I know you care that Donald Trump raped E. Jean Carroll. It's my belief that if one (you, me, anyone) cares about Ms. Carroll than they should show concern for Juanita Broadrick and what Clinton allegedly did to her. There are many people out there who could be good, useful, surrogates and fundraisers for Joe Biden. Bill Clinton shouldn't be one of them given his alleged baggage.

Then stop using him on the campaign trail and tell him to go home. It's really that simple. Joe Biden and Biden's political team could easily tell Clinton to not be out there on the campaign trail for him.
