When you look at things like what Buddy Carter said here about undoing cost saving on prescription drug prices, Rick Scott out releasing a plan about sunsetting Social Security and Medicare, and virtually every Republican running's opinion on abortion, it is amazing how politically out of touch they've become. If it weren't for inflation and high gas prices they'd have literally noting to run on that was popular this election cycle. Their own political ineptness and ability to read the tea leaves of America has taken what should be a gift wrapped midterm and instead made it in play for the Democrats.

At the end of the day, unless things fall completely off a cliff and Dan Campbell puts himself in Hue Jackson territory by going 1-16, I don't care as much about wins this year as I do clear and obvious competency, growth, and improvement. I'm not firing Campbell short of him going full Hue Jackson and I'm also not expecting Campbell to make the playoffs or achieve X number of wins. While I think they are a 7-8 win team, I'll be happy if things look like they are moving in the right direction in a big way, regardless of the win total at the end of the day. I want to see this coaching staff look competent and clearly show that they know what they are doing. Coach and manage the game right and put your players to be in the right spot to succeed. Coaches should never be the reason a team loses the game. I want to see growth and improvement from our young players, rookies, 2nd, and 3rd year players. I want guys to take big steps forward from last year to this and look markedly better. -
To be fair, the FBI has done it to a lot of people and has a disgraceful record of harassing people. J. Edgar Hoover was a lawbreaking piece of shit for what he did to Dr. King and countless others. Trump is also a lawbreaking piece of shit. But we shouldn't lose sight of the terrible track record of the FBI just because of Trump's criminality.

If this poll is close to being accurate it's going to be a bloodbath for Democrats and we've all celebrated the good news in the Senate waaaaay too early. From the poll they gauged that inflation is by far the most important issue to voters (21%), with education coming in second (11%). Another poll where inflation and cost of living is what dominates voters minds.

I'm so excited about this season I got tickets to go to the game. Even though I'm generally negative about this franchise and while I don't think we're a serious playoff team just yet, this could be a really fun season. I'm ready for the Lions season to start and am excited in a way that I haven't been since probably post-2014. -

I thought for sure Justin Jackson was making it over Jemar Jefferson given his NFL game experience. -
In happier news, John Fetterman continues to prove why he is the best candidate of the cycle with this great TV ad. Calling out Dr, Oz for wearing Gucci loafers and saying he wouldn't last an hour in Braddock Pennsylvania (inferring Oz thinks he's better than they are) is great messaging.

When and why did Decker become the weakest link? Hopefully he performs during the regular season and doesn't make RT an issue. -
Trump proved that politics is a popularity contest of how big you can make your brand and celebrity. In Georgia, Walker is a celebrity among SEC and Bulldog fans, which is more than half the state. For all the concerns Republicans have with their Senate races, this one shouldn't be one of them. Walker is in great shape compared to their other contested races and he's the nuttiest and dumbest of them all. But SEC and Bulldog football is king down south and in Georgia. I think sans maybe JD Vance in Ohio, Walker has the best shot at winning among their contested races because of his celebrity status. When you dive deeper into the numbers in the poll you can see that Herschel Walker gets 25% of the "urban" vote which I think is largely the black vote. Now, you can dismiss that off hand and say no way a Republican candidate, Walker or otherwise, gets that percentage of the black vote. But I think that misses the point of how much more football can matter than politics. African Americans love their football down their too and many remember Walker as a God as well. I'd be interested to know if Barry Sanders is a Democrat and has any interest in running for Senate. Barry's got a big brand name in Michigan and specifically in it's largest metro area, Detroit. If Stabenow doesn't run again in 2024, someone should give Barry Sanders a call and at least inquire as to his interest, assuming he's a Democrat. Sanders, while he may or may not be a good legislator, would be a good candidate for sure. That's only a partial joke.

Jarad Davis cut again. -
You think they keep both Cephus and Benson? I think Benson is ultimately the one they keep and both Cephus and Kennedy get cut.

Kerryon Johnson was the 2nd round pick in 2018, not Jarrad Davis. And low and behold, Kerryon was always hurt and a bust. Also, seeing Jordan Dizon's name on the list brings back draft memories in my early 20's. I flipped the bleep out when Millen picked Dizon. I hated the fact that he had drafted an undersized LB with a 4th-5th round grade. Worse though, I really wanted the Lions to get Jamaal Charles out of Texas that year because we had such a need at RB and was so bummed we didn't get him. We took Kevin Smith instead. For all the times I've been wrong for buying into college hype (Aaron Curry, Connor Cook, Eric Rowe to name a few) Charles was a guy I thought would be a stud and turned out to be. -

It's seemed to have lagged a bit behind the January 6th hearings. I guess I just don't know what to think. Millions and millions of Americans watched the breaking news coverage of January 6th as it happened or shortly thereafter. And if they didn't see it on the news as it happened they saw YouTube clips and snippets on Twitter, Instagram, and Tix Tock almost assuredly. So strange to think that only now this issue is gaining momentum and steam. I would have thought either in the aftermath of January 6th or during the hearings that the issue would gain traction and move towards the top then.

They did a dad's night similar to that and Antonio Cromartie had to tackle the entire defense. -
I love the Sopranos and love referencing it to real life situations. The character of Ralph, one of the mafia Capos in Tony's crew, had a great line when he was in a heated argument with Paulie, Tony's Underboss. Paulie is yelling at Ralph and Tony and he goes "I can't believe it!" and Ralph says right back to him "Why not? Last year, you believed a flying saucer was over East Rutherford." These MAGA types will really believe anything presented to them if it's something they want to hear.

I didn't even know Ashley Biden's diary was a thing until recently. I saw some MAGA trolls on Facebook saying there was "disturbing stuff" in there. Hunter's laptop, Ashley's diary, probably Jill's Palm Pilot from 20 years ago.

I was trying to be optimistic about Levi and hoping for a return to health and form. But when you think about a back injury in the context you framed it, you are more often than not going to be correct. Back issues linger as a health problem for years for people and only through procedures or surgeries will they go away, and even then, that's no guarantee of being at full strength. If don't see Levi by week 8 or so, I think it's time to have some serious concern about him as a player. If only he had been drafted in the third round or later, none of this would have happened. Failed second round picks are just another form of SOL I guess. 😕 -

Hopefully we can get one with our second round pick. It is concerning though that we've spent so much capital on the position between trading for Michael Brockers and drafting Levi and McNeil with 2nd and 3rd round picks and it still remains such a concern for this defense. What is the resource allocation required before this position finally flips from being a weakness. I'm not ready to write Levi off yet, but starting off the season injured, after being hut last year and in college, is not what I'd call a good start. -
Pastor Ralph Rebandt, who wanted to be Governor and now wants to be LG, says he won't meet alone in a room with a woman who isn't his wife. UM, what century are we even in? Furthermore, how can be be Tudor Dixon's LG if he won't even ever meet with her alone?
