With Reader in, Brodric Martin potentially being elevated in year 2, and McNeil already your top DT on the roster, where does this leave Levi? Will he make the roster and if he does, is he last on the depth chart?

no real reason to think that Martin will pass Levi anytime soon. Holmes is like any other GM, his guys will get longer looks, so Levi is going to get every chance to stay in 24. besides, right now he is the 3rd best DT, at worst 4th if you think Paschal is a DT.

This one stings, not going to lie. I knew deep down in my Honolulu blue heart we wouldn't land an A-tier, marquee free agent. But man, I really wanted us to be in on Hunter and I had some small but fading sense of hope that we would land a dynamic pass rusher like Hunter. Lining up a guy with 16 sacks across Aiden sure would have been nice. Just continue to trust the Brad Holmes plan!

100%. 2 year contract with an exploding salary cap is not ever going to be an obstacle for signing anyone.

It doesn’t sound like Detroit has an appetite for a six-man rotation to start the season, which means one of Manning, Mize, or Reese Olson could start the year either in the bullpen or in the minors. With Gipson-Long waiting in the wings and a host of other spot starters like Wentz and Alex Faedo on the 40-man roster, the Tigers have the luxury of bringing some of their top pitching prospects along slowly. Wilmer Flores and Ty Madden both reached Double-A last year and look like they’re on the fast track to the majors, and the Tigers’ top pitching prospect, Jackson Jobe, isn’t that far behind. With the depth the team has established, Detroit can really give that trio of young pitchers all the development time they need when they’d otherwise be lined up to make their debuts this year.

  4. politically, easy to spin this as Biden will go to extra ordinary lengths in Gaza but not Southern border.

not a good look for him

  5. Trump posts 91.6M bond. Maybe Elmo or Orban gave him the money at MAL over the weekend? The great news is that as soon as appeals are denied, Carroll gets the cash without a fight. That's when Dump will really melt down.

  6. GQP did it again; reduced expectations for Biden's performance so low people were expecting a incoherent blob of goo; Biden is solid, but really appears to knock it out of the park because of the triumph of low expectations.

    Thank you GQP!

And the visuals of him talking to everyone late into the night were so good

Yes, the amount of times a player screws up in comparison to the others who play the same position is just a ridiculous way to measure their effectiveness.

if you keep digging, you eventually will get out of this hole. just keep digging. you're doing great. almost there.

  8. The effort some of you are putting into crazy ideas to motivate Baez by humiliating him or benching him in favor of clearly lesser players is really weird.   Dude is a dumpster fire and also the best SS the Tigers have by far but the moment people start pointing that out, people feel the need to come up with some crazy ideas that he is not getting the $98M he is guaranteed.

Feel free to keep pointing out he sucks at the plate (he does) but your olde timey "solutions" are silly.

Note I'm not saying the Tigers are wrong to try to 'fix' Javy, just that 'fixing' batters is a crapshoot that always has some possibility of blowing up in your face.

Baez had his worst full season in the majors last year, while posting his best strike out rate ever. looks like he is trying to do just what they want him to do, and it has clearly all blown up in their faces

The obvious solution is took put him on the bench.

If Eddys can handle SS, Baez can still back up... or provide some other usefulness... probably back up 2B too.

    A WAY overpaid utility guy...

But as you say, he ain't taking less than $98 mill so until the team decides to eat whatever remains, he's either the starter or he's an expensive backup 2B/SS...

AJ needs to grab him by the collar, and really lay into him. Give 'em the business. Give 'em the what for. Tell him that namby pamby stuff won't be tolerated and to stop being a duke of limbs.  I think we can all agree that is the one sure way to compel him to create more contact.

We'll see and I could be wrong but I believe when he says very clearly that he's sticking with the plan and won't waiver. I like the plan btw, I never liked the idea of chasing big name free agents most of which will get paid for what they did not what they will do throughout the duration of the next contract.

it would be a show of incredible hubris to think you can ignore one of the NFL's major talent infusion streams (free agency) and still build a SB winner

the Chiefs and the Patriots routinely spent significant money in free agency during their SB runs

nothing wrong to prioritizing your guys, but when you have gaping holes on your roster at CB and DE, it would be a huge mistake to not use free agency to make your team better
