Not surprised. The Lions took a lot of guys that were high on Brugler's draft list. I always wonder about these rankings. Do they rank teams drafts based on pure value or do they account for where the team drafted and how they did relative to draft position? For instance, the Bears had two top 10 picks while the Lions drafted 29th so based on draft position alone, you'd expect the Bears to get better value so you'd expect them to get better prospects. I don't know, just a thought exercise on my part and I should know better because nothing ever comes good from me having to think.

I can't wait until Generation Whine in KD, Harden and Kyrie retire. Dudes are nothing but malcontents at every stop and I'm shocked, shocked I tell ya, that it didn't work out for the 3 bozos in Brooklyn. I would throw Ben Simmons in that whine pile as well but he doesn't have anything to whine about since he's never on court and why whine when you can collect millions upon millions of dollars to not work.

That was a clinic on how to blow a game as a coach. I'm sure it's been touched on here but continuously letting Harden go 1 on 1 when he torched his defender time after time and, in addition, sitting the big guys in Gafford and Lively that got them back in the game in the first place and thus taking away any rim protection they had was coaching malpractice. I was shocked that he dropped to the 6th, I'm guessing that teams were scared off by his size? He was arguably the 3rd best DT after Murphy and Newton, he really showed out to me when watching LSU. Mahogany was great value too and at a real area of long term need. Lots of folks had 3rd/4th round grades on him. Not a big fan of giving up the 2025 3rd to take Manu who I knew nothing about but reading up on him, there's a whole lot of talent to work with (good athleticism for his size and apparently he plays like a "bully"). The Lions are the perfect landing spot for a developmental tackle like him. Again, don't like giving up the 3rd but there's some real upside here, similar to Martin I suppose. The Lions can afford to take swings like this because they're deep at most positions in the short term so... why the heck not?

I think Davis is a bit better than Fuller but I too would have rather just signed Fuller instead of giving up the 3rd but maybe Fuller didn't want to sign with the Lions or maybe Holmes was just a much bigger fan of Davis. I think it's just a "Trust Brad" situation, he's earned that. The team is looking real strong going into next season either way, I'd feel even better if they added a receiver.

It's their only real need left. It's St. Brown and a lot of question marks. Jamo could be good but he's proven very little, DPJ was non-existent in his stint here but does have a history of production, Raymond injured. They could really use another guy.

At first I was like, "Another CB?" but it makes a lot of sense when you consider that Davis only has 1 year left plus Rakestraw was likely BPA at 61 and Holmes just takes guys who are good football players regardless of need. I think this signals that Davis is a 1 year rental, would be hard for the Lions to afford him anyway. Not a big fan of giving up a 3rd for a rental but, in a pass happy league, their secondary is loaded now and has a very bright future so hard to complain about that.

BPA Baby I would like to get an O-Lineman though. I'm bummed that Legette got taken but it was never realistic for him drop to 61. Still, I'm on such a high with the Arnold pick that everything else is gravy from here on out.

Told you guys although I thought an Arnold trade up would be up to the mid teens and would cost the 2nd at minimum. What transpired was absolute genius work by Holmes. I was at this draft party screaming out for them to trade up for Arnold and lo and behold it happened, I'm stoked to say the least. This guy screams Detroit Lion.

They aren't benching Duren. He's one of their core players, they're going to give him opportunity to succeed. I'm not a big fan of his but that's what they should do if they're intent on developing or trading him for that matter. Him coming off the bench would be detrimental to both options.

If they trade up, I bet it's for Arnold if they trade up into the mid teens (listen to that kid speak, if he doesn't embody Brad/Dan culture I don't know who does) or DeJean if they're trading 5-6 spots up.

And St. Brown only 24. The contracts will kick in when they're 25 but the Lions are getting full prime years with these contracts.

That's a completely unrealistic expectation. Keep in mind when looking at previous contracts like Samuel, Hill, Brown etc., those were all during lower cap times and those guys are quite a bit older than Amon-Ra. The Lions are getting him right locked up right at the beginning of his prime while those are getting paid at the back end of their prime.

I disagree, who signed in the offseason that reset the market? Davonta Smith? Amon-Ra was getting $28m+ no matter what.

I get it. Most RBs don't get a 2nd contract with their initial team and most RBS aren't the focal points of the offense, same with TE. It takes a special RB and TE to be worth being taken that high, like Gibbs and LaPorta even though LaPorta wasn't a high pick but moreso that in future years when teams are contemplating taking Tight Ends with a high 1st, the sentiment will be "They better be the next LaPorta to be worth it".

Anybody who is being honest will admit that they were miffed by the Gibbs pick for the most part. I'm sure there were a few that were onboard with the pick at the time but most of us were baffled at him being picked that high, same with Campbell. TBH, it seemed like most weren't happy with the LaPorta pick either although I liked him. Branch was the one pick that was universally liked at the time. Long story short.... Trust In Brad Holmes and not us armchair scouts.

Barton is almost universally being mocked in the 1st round but... you never know. I'd be all in on him if he dropped to 29. Same with Newton, don't see him dropping to 29 but if he did you go snatch him up needs be damned.

Yeah, the argument that he played with trash his entire time as a Lion is bogus, I never understood it. Granted, Goff currently has a better supporting cast than Stafford ever did offensively from players to coaches but Stafford has one of the best receivers of all time to throw to, Tate and a defense that was borderline top 10 a few years. Not blaming Stafford for the zero playoff wins but it's not like he didn't play on teams that weren't capable of making a playoff run. In terms of top 3 Lions of all time, I'd say that Barry and Calvin have to be a top 3 then it could be a whole bunch of guys that I never saw play. Layne, Barney, Karras, Sims maybe?
