I don't mean to be debby downer, but we aren't making the playoffs next year. Even with Bregman..... Our team outperformed by a mile this past year. Cool story, was fun, but I'd be absolutely astonished if it happened again. Lets look at our infielders Avg/OBP (From last year): (I'll even include Bregman) Bregman - .260/.315 Sweeney - .218/.269 Torres - .257/.330 Keith - .260/.309 Jung - .241/.362 (79 AB's) Catcher Dingler - .167/.195 Rogers - .197/.255 OF Karpenter - .284/.345 Greene - .262/.348 Meadows - .244/.310 We have basically 2 Average to slightly above average hitters out of 9...... In what world does that make the playoffs again. I pray to the heavens I'm wrong. But this team needs more talent. They need guys that can get on base more. They got lucky last year and it was an aberration. Now if they take massive steps forward, then we could be talking. But it'd have to be quite a few massive steps........ -
Bro.... That was like 20 years ago and you're still high....... 😄 (JK)

Ride him out two more years. Draft a younger project QB to grow into the backup this year that can be QB2 after next year when Hooker's contract expires. We need cap space other places than backup QB. I feel bad for Hooker. He may never get a chance to show what he can do to earn that $300 million contract. But if he makes $50 million over a career being a backup QB, is that really so bad?

Call me crazy. I hope Lions trade out of the 1st round. Get as many 2nd/3rds as possible. I trust Brad. Run it with Smith/Hutch this year and if you get a guy in the 2nd or 3rd that compliments them, more power to em. I just think we need to get younger at the O-line and we need depth all over. Just my $0.02.

I'd love the Lions to trade out of the 1st round and get a 2nd and 3rd rounder. Then I'd love for them to trade back again to get extra picks. I'm fully happy with as many 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks Brad Holmes can get his hands on....

I hope the Lions go Edge here. How different would this game have been with Hutch in? Matching Hutch with another stud DE will greatly enhance this team going forward...... Unless Grant from UofM falls to them...... They may need another Corner too. I'd be ok if they went DE, CB fist an second round.....

Taylor Decker has fallen off recently. Might be time to replace him. He's allowed 8 sacks this year and I think most of those have come in the last half of the year.... Maybe he's hurt? https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/taylor-decker/10650#gradesWidget

Remember when everyone wanted to fire Jim Harbaugh after his 2nd year...... College Football isn't like the NHL. From what I can tell, you need 5-6 years before you start to really see a dent being made whereas College Football is 2 years ish. Woudln't we be giving up on Yzerman before he can really get his guys in? He's been screwed by the draft EVERY SINGLE TIME and hasn't gotten the stars to build around. But from my understanding the farm system is strong and the young guys are just now coming up. Because Yzerman's has been screwed by the draft, what else can he do? Everyone was complaining recently about the coach, he just fixed that. But what else can he do? I think Yzerman being the golden boy in Detroit still has 2-3 years of leeway before Illitch looks at replacing him..... He needs more time in my opinion (even though I know little about hockey........)

Both of these guys would be solid five year players. High Risk, HIgh reward. But you pair them with Jobe and Skubal, you could potentially have four #1's.... Not to mention the pitchers behind them. It's time. If we sit on our laurels and do nothing, I don't think we make the playoffs next year. I still think this past season was a mirage..... Man I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am. -
https://www.foxsports.com/stories/mlb/mlbs-best-pitchers-ranking-the-top-20-starters-for-2024 - Look at this. Skubal wasn't even a top 20 going into the season. I don't think theres many publications that had him top 10 or even 20 heading in to the last year......

I think you should get a premium membership from Motown for nailing that one.......

You can see the Yankees future huh? Whose their catcher in 2027? -
Well, thoughts? Is it time to go continue rebuilding? I mentioned a few months ago about trading Larkin... Does it make sense? Part of me thinks they are just ho hum with a lot of B level prospects on the horizon and not many true "game changers". Is it time to trade Larkin and whoever they can for some A level prospects? Or just stay the course?

So I'm just gonna say it. I think we were lucky as all get out this year to go as far as we did. If we run back this team with 80% of the same players, I think we miss the playoffs next year..... Having said that, I really hope we improve, especially on the pitching side. Buehler and Flaherty are my top 2 and my dream would be Corbin Burnes. I'm still amazed the Orioles didn't swing for Skubal and after they got bounced, I expect them to LOAD up on pitching this off season via trade (or else I think their GM will get canned if they don't perform well through the season, or if they get bounced in the first round of playoffs again next year). If there's a way to pluck one of their top 5 guys, we need to explore that. Even if that means shipping Vest, Montero or Foley (or literally anyone on our staff not named Skubal)..... Although in all honesty, I'd still be open to moving Skubal for the right price (don't worry will never happen) but I think this year just earned him a 10 year contract from the Tigers...... But seriously though, we need to do this right. Our team has a bunch of B level players and I hope this season wasn't a mirage but I fear it could have been. (I really hope I'm wrong). -
