  1. I think we're getting some rentals....... Sorry to break it to you. Question is now, can we do it without getting rid of Briceno... I still think Liranzo and Jung are the biggest trade pieces....
  2. Posted this in the throw around ideas thread. Looking more and more realistic each day. (Please note general consensus is no on our end because everyone loves Rainer). Tigers get: Mitch Keller K'Bryan Hayes David Bednar Thomas Harrington Pirates get: Rainer Lirizano Hamm Vierling (Not sure if we'd have to include Ty Madden to balance this out or not)
  3. If Harris pulls this off, he'd never have to buy a beer, car, meal or spend a dollar in the state of Michigan. Especially without adding Jung or Rainer to that deal....... Briceno may get us Suarez alone. But not all 3. (And that's reaaaaally stretching it that Briceno has enough value to net Suarez......)
  4. Here's Bowdens article: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6515156/2025/07/25/mlb-trade-deadline-scenarios-yankees-dodgers/ Reds reunite with their former third baseman Reds get: 3B Eugenio SuΓ‘rez Diamondbacks get: 3B Cam Collier, RHP Chase Petty, LHP Adam Serwinowski Just to give an outside MLB Perspective. Cam Collier is #56 right now and Chase Petty is currently #98 on MLB.com's prospect ranking. So, he thinks teams would essentially trade two top-100 prospects for Suarez. Again, until it happens, not saying a GM would actually do it for sure. But an outsider looking in with a lot of baseball knowledge seems to think the Value is worth two 100 top prospects and another (Serwinowski is Cincinnati's top LHP prospect too). Quite a haul if something like that were to happen.
  5. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/adley-rutschman-668939?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb - He should be expected .800 OPS as a catcher.... I'll take that all day long. I think when he gets back, he's gonna be a monster. Calling it here πŸ™‚
  6. I think Rutschman is still the real deal. You look at his underlying numbers, he's just super unlucky. He should be close to a top 5 C right now. If the Orioles are stupid enough to trade him now it'd be a colossal mistake.
  7. Man, thats a tough one. Max Clark and Briceno for Gore..... Sheeeeesh. I'd say no just because I like position players more than pitchers. I think how you value prospects and players though falls in line with my thoughts......
  8. July 25: Padres made blockbuster trade proposal to Red Sox involving Cease, Duran (report) The Padres, who have had reported interest in Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran for months, proposed an offer to the Red Sox for the 28-year-old that would have sent starting pitcher Dylan Cease, catcher Ethan Salas (MLB's No. 21 prospect) and another prospect to Boston. However, according to Sean McAdam of MassLive.com (subscription required), the Red Sox "quickly rejected" the deal. Boston Red Sox are phaking Nutz....... They must reaaaaaaaaally love Teel. Crazy. Salas lost some helium this year, but this kid is a frickin stud... Let alone getting Cease. Duran is an average left fielder.....
  9. Keaton Winn went on the IL early in the year with an "undisclosed" injury too. No media reports what it was. He just came back..... I dunno if MLB teams are just not disclosing some injuries for some reason.......
  10. Would you trade McGonigle and Clark for Gore? Because right now, as crazy as that sounds, that's probably what it'd take. I for sure wouldn't do that. I just want to see what you're saying exactly......
  11. You've been my boy up till this point lol. I wouldn't trade what it'd cost for Gore. If you're talking Liranzo for Clase or Duran, thats one thing. But not a Tier 1 guy.
  12. Where'd you get these stats from? That's really cool to look that up.
  13. Thats good. I think we need more production there on the offensive side anyway. I would love the defense. But unless we are trading like Trey Sweeney and a low level, that's about what I'd offer. I'm sure the Pirates want a lot more. But I remember how fun it was watching Jose Iglesias at SS all those years. Would love to see that type of defense again on the left side.
  14. Suarez will cost a team a top 100 prospect. I'll be absolutely astonished if he doesn't. For the record, I don't think we should trade Clark, McGonigle or Rainer. I think the first two are as close to 100% untouchable as possible. Rainer I'd say is 95% untouchable. I want the Tigers to keep all three. I'd consider these first tier. If the Tigers were to deal a top prospect, I think Briceno, Liranzo (most likely of all), Lee, Hamm, Anderson and Jung are the biggest trade pieces. I'm not advocating we trade any of these guys either. But if the Tigers want a true upgrade, it will probably cost one or two of these guys (ala Tier 2 type prospects). Also, I want to add, that I think the Tigers if they were to do a deal, it'd be for multiple players with the same team. Look at what I referenced for the Pirates..... Tigers get: Mitch Keller K'Bryan Hayes David Bednar Thomas Harrington Pirates get: Rainer Lirizano Hamm Vierling I honestly think it'd cost something close to that for a package like that. Do I realistically think the Tigers should do it or would do something like that; No. But in terms of prospect capital at this deadline, I think thats pretty close to what it'd take...... I'm legit just talking about value. Lets say you were the Pirates GM and the owner told you to do a deal with the Tigers. (Work with me on this hypothetical). Would you do that deal if Rainer gets replaced by Briceno? I don't think so..... That's all I'm saying. The value's gonna be steep. Again, if Suarez doesn't cost a team a top 100 prospect, I'll be absolutely flabbergasted....... I think he will get a top 50 prospect and another decent B level prospect or two as well. But again, just my $0.02. I hope the Tigers do something like Max Anderson for a good reliever. Something along those lines. I hope they don't break the bank. But even if they do, I think it'd be more the second tier I listed versus the first.
  15. The Yankees have a new third baseman. They are acquiring Ryan McMahon from the Rockies, reports Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. The Rockies will receive two prospects in return. One of the two prospects is left-hander Griffin Herring, per Jorge Castillo of ESPN. The other is right-hander Josh Grosz, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Two really good arms heading to the Rockies for a decently mediocre player. Suarez is for sure getting a top 50 prospect and more..... Tigers have got to be OUT of the running for him.... Unless they give up Rainer (which most have made abundantly clear they aren't going to do), Suarez ain't coming to the D......
  16. For the original intent of the thread, I will give my opinion on these (and I hope others will too as well as throw out options they think would work too as that was the intent of this original post). I think if you removed Colt Keith and put in someone like Lee or Liranzo instead, then I think that's actually pretty close. I think it will cost Liranzo or Briceno to get Suarez if we were to dip into our prospect pool. (I think he's being out priced what we'd actually pay.) I could see the Yankees giving up one of their top 3 prospects + for him. I would think Liranzo would be the price for him alone. I'd be really surprised but if we did add someone, I think it'd have to be someone waaaaaaaaay down the
  17. Clark and McGonigal for Skenes? πŸ˜πŸ€£πŸ˜‚
  18. Big difference between Suarez though and Naylor. I think Suarez will fetch a top 50 prospect as a headline. Looks like the Mariners are targeting him. If a package isn't around Harry Ford or Michael Arroyo, I'll be astonished.
  19. JC, do you spend any time whatsoever looking at Tigers prospects? Briceno would be the A's number 1 prospect right now if he was traded and Jung would be in their top 5 (if he was eligible). I'm pretty sure Schefelbein would be in their top 15...... That wasn't even my offer but it is a pretty fair offer in terms of value. Teams trade established players (usually) for multiple prospects that they can control for multiple years. This gives them three prospects/young players to build around and an immediate replacement with a league average replacement right away..... Not too shabby. The A's need pieces going forward.....
  20. Just found this site https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/trades I'm too cheap to spend the money for this. But one of the top trades listed in terms of value is: Tigers get:(40.7 point value) Brent Rooker Athletics get: (41.20 point value) Wenceel Perez Jace Jung Josue Briceno Ethan Scheifelbein I'd do this deal too. Cool site.
  21. I think you're right pretty much. I'm honestly in your boat. but For those that want to make a serious run at a WS this year, in order to get things that'd help, it's going to cost something. Rainer is about the cost I think it'd take. The Pirates Deal would be very appealing as it wouldn't mortgage the future but still greatly enhance our team this year. (Yes, I like the Pirates deal WAY MORE than the Rockies Deal, I was just throwing some stuff out there to get your thoughts on things). I think we're playing way above expectations (I am vehemently on record saying this last year as well and took a lot of flack for it). But having said that, if some people want to "go for it" this year, then the type of deal with the Pirates I think is pretty realistic and it'd cost someone of Rainer's value. Pirates won't give away an All star closer, #2/#3 type starter and the best defensive 3B in the game without getting something back. I'm making them throw in their third best pitching prospect as well to add more value in giving up Rainer. I really think that's a realistic deal that helps us now without mortgaging the future. I'd rather not do any deal involving Rainer. But I think he's the absolute highest prospect we'd trade if we get something actually good in return.
  22. I think Bigbie is in the top 7 or 8 OF'rs for the Tigers Depth chart. But again, I want the Tigers to go after Kyle Tucker or someone like that in the OF.
  23. I also want to point out, I love how Tampa Bay and the Dodgers do this every year specifically. They move players when younger players are ready, in order to get even younger players in return to restock the farm system (Selling one veteran for two or three high end prospects that are a few years away). IIRC we have some people in our front office that came from both the Dodgers and Rays system. It's a good model. I love watching what the Rays, Dodgers and to an extent the Brewers do each year when they have to finalize their 40 man rosters before the Rule 5 draft. The amount of anti acid pills and pepto bismol that those GM's and Presidents of Operations must take because of the pressure on who to keep and who to expose is probably by the pallet stacks. The Tigers are almost at that point. I'd love it if we had so many prospects, we have to let some go. Which is kind of what happened this year with Hicks...... I think we are honestly almost there, and a deal like what I presented kind of sets us up to do that going forward....... (Sorry for multiple posts but I think it's important to see the whole picture of moving other "pieces" that can be used to plug other holes.)
  24. No, I appreciate the dialogue. When Max is ready, I think Perez or even Freeman can get moved. Parker Meadows can easily be replaced by Max Clark. But I think the best OF (based on what we actually have right now) would be Green (LF), Clark(CF) and Freeman (RF) (in an ideal world). Carpenter is more of a DH kind of guy anyway. But Perez/Meadows and Carp would be on outside looking in and can be used in deals to help other areas. But this is baseball. We will need depth, injuries happen or players years will go to πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©. As a stratomatic player, I get to see even stars have crap years literally every year. It happens. We can always use depth. Justice Bigbie and Campos will be ready in the next few years too if they hit as a prospect. Moving Perez and/or Meadows wouldn't be the worst thing in the world when Clark is ready. Perez in my opinion is an average (at best) player, nothing special but gets the job done. Meadows is an above average defender but I don't see him being a great hitter (league average would be fantastic if he can do that which he's shown glimpses of, but hasn't been able to recreate consistently). Carpenter can hit the crap out of the ball but isn't a great defender. I could also see us moving Freeman and having the Tigers spend on a Free Agent RF as well. Understand, I think Freeman is having a career year. But if we can ride him this year as a table setter, it'd help this team a TON this year. But even going forward, I'd rather have Freeman in the OF than Perez. We need more .350+ OBP guys. We have enough power, we need guys on base that can be on base when the power launches one over the fence. Freeland was always supposed to be that super high OBP guy. We need one of those (partially why I'm still pissed we let Liam Hicks walk for free when he's a .400 OBP guy... fml) Good teams have repeatable depth that they can deal from. If we move an OF or two because we have more coming up in the minors, that's a good thing. This year we are lacking but the farm is close to producing. We can take advantage of the situation and keep replenishing our farm. Not every prospect will make it or succeed as we predict as you know. So if we increase our odds, then I think we kind of hedge our bet. Out of all honesty, I'd love to see this deal made, then in the off season, spend 400 million on Kyle Tucker. You can then parlay Freeman (to a team like the cubs) for pitching or whatnot. But can you imagine Green, Clark, Tucker? Bruh. The Tigers are in a position to spend on some players. Soon they'll have to pay their own players. I just pray it's not on Skubal and more on position players. Most SP contracts don't work out nearly as well as position players. I'd rather have Kyle Tucker than Skubal on my team for the next 10 years. But again, that's just my opinion.
