  1. By the way, I disagree with this. The chances of Skubal being 80% of the pitcher he is (without injury) 3 years from now is astronomical. I don't want to pay $40 (more likely 45) million plus for a #3 or #4 starter if he's healthy after 3 years for antoher 7 years. Thats the problem I have. If he was 4 or 5 years younger, yes, I'd pay him $500mil over 10. But he isn't.... get rid of him an buy.
  2. You're all beautiful......
  3. Happened last year with Arrenado.......
  4. I'm ATF, and I approve of this message! (Although they are going for it so they won't give up their closer...... so give us Justin Crawford instead)
  5. We're already thin af at the secondary. Now this? What a nerd......
  6. Painter's 16 overall, Miller is 32 overall and Crawford is 50. (Phillies prospects whose match is perfect with Tigers). Even if we kick back a prospect like Hamm or Anderson, I'd still do that..... Just makes too much sense.
  7. https://www.mlb.com/nationals/news/nationals-trade-juan-soto-to-padres-in-eight-player-deal?partnerId=it-20240630-10323479-mlb-1-A&utm_id=it-20240630-10323479-mlb-1-A Juan Soto did. If the best hitter did, I'm guessing the best pitcher will.... Or it'd be close.
  8. Remember, trading him now (during the off season) probably equates to three A grade prospects. Waiting till half way through the season might, maybe get you one A grade prospect and some flyers. More likely it'd be a package of three or four B level prospects. Let me put it a different way to understand his value. Would you rather get: Package A: Max Clark, Kevin McGonigle and Rainer Or Package B: Brisceno, Liranzo, Max Anderson and Jadem Hamm Give me Package A please. Trade Skubal now..............
  9. Dave Dombrowski's team is win now. He's notorious for emptying the farm in a scorched earth. Skubal makes the Phillies the favorite next year. If we get their top 3 prospects for Skubal, you do it. And Dave might be the guy to do just that...... Makes too much sense. If they re-sign Schwarber, then this becomes a HUGE reality.
  10. Agree with everything u said. I still think he'll be better than the second half numbers. I think its easy to say he's a first division regular. But if they can move him and get a huge return, I'd be open to that. I'd more like to keep him, sign Kyle Tucker for RF and wait a year for Clark. That'd be one of the best OF's in the AL.......
  11. His OPS was .021 different this year than last? So I'm not really sure what you're trying to say. His average was a difference of .004 from the previous year and his OBP was the biggest drop in .035. But he also increased his slugging by .014. Lastly, his BABIP was .021 LOWER than his career average. So he actually should have been better than last year. What should we be concerned about? I'm legit not following that...... Like you mentioned, he's 25, but is a 2x All-Star before turning 26....... Yes, his defense could improve (although -2 is pretty close to league average). But so can Kyle Schwarber, Yordan Alvarez, Christian Yelich, Randy Arozarena's as well as many others...... I'd be very happy with those guys in LF...... What do you not like about Greene long-term? The prime baseball age for players is 28-32. He's still two to three years away from his prime.......
  12. A. I was joking about the drugs, so calm down there please. B. You're saying that a career .232/.308/.386 should be an all-star. Not to mention, his BEST season if projected to a full season would be 12 steals/12 HR. He's not a 30/30 guy, nor will he ever be........ At the very most, Parker Meadows would be a really good #4 OF on a 1st division team for a defensive replacement. I get that he was injured this year, but his .BABIP was .280 and he's got career postings of below average barrel%, hard hit %, and batspeed. There's no underlying stats that show he is an All-Star. Now, a gold glover, that's a different story. The Tigers Legit have one, maybe two first division Regulars and that goes to Greene and Carpenter. Tork, Dingler, Keith all will probably be second division regulars. The Tigers have overperformed for two years in a row. Career years by McKinstry and Torres helped for sure. But this isn't sustainable. Tigers need to make some big moves. Since Cameron Maybin, the Tigers haven't had star prospects in their system. McGonigle and Clark actually have that "star potential" (Maybe Rainer too). Guys like Briceno, Liranzo, Lee and Yost could be decent/maybe 1st division regulars. There's a big difference from the pedigree of what's in the minors versus what's on our team now. Will all of these prospects work out? More than likely not. But at the same time, there's a better chance of them being better than almost everyone on our roster, than not. It will take time but I think all Tiger fans need to be realistic. And I'm sorry to call out that statement that Meadows will be an All-Star. Literally nothing would make me happier than to be wrong on that....
  13. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/riley-greene-682985?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb - Ummmm, please send me your dealers number. I want to buy now........ Must be some good stuff for sure. Does he need a distribution network? BTW, Archie, I agree with everything except your first line. Greene, Carpenter are really the only two untouchables on this team. No one else is a division first regular (Sorry Tork and Keith, your close, but not quite there......). You must have bought from MonkeyTargets dealer...... Send me his number please.
  14. Sign Kyle Tucker, Edwin Diaz, Dylan Cease, Zac Gallen, Shane Bieber. Trade Skubal. Redecorate the trophy room so you have space to add four of the next five World Series trophies. Ez enough.
  15. Starting a thread specifically about trading Skubal. I posted this in another thread, but since it's 8 pages long and only like 10 people look at posts that long, I figured I'd repost my original here. _______________________________________________________________ If the Tigers trade Skubal this offseason, he can get up to three top prospects from a team (looking at you Dave Dombrowski of the Phillies who hates prospects![Andrew Painter, Aidan Miller, Justin Crawford]). If they wait for next year, and are out of the playoffs by mid-year and go to trade him (if he's not hurt), that value drops to maybe one of an organization's top 4 or 5 prospect and a few B level flyers...... Trade him now, let the kids play w/ McGonigle, Briceno, Liranzo, Anderson and maybe Clark next year...... If the Tigers trade him this offseason, they set their team up in a much better spot to win for the next decade. If they don't, then it's one of the most neglectful situations in Detroit sports history, maybe even in all of professional sports history. If Skubal costs 400million+ (and we actually were able to sign him), and we only get 2 years of ACE quality, MAAAAAAAAYBE 3, is he really worth 400+ million dollars? We will screw the organization all over again by combining Baez's bad contract WITH Miguel Cabrera's later years. According to Chat GPT, there are only 8 players who have had an ERA under 3.00 with at least 15 starts while being 35 years of age and older. Out of about 30,000 to 40,000 pitchers. Anyone who doesn't want Skubal traded right now is (edited) begging for mediocrity for the next decade. Trade him now or suffer. It's really that simple.

  17. That will be a HUGE mistake.
  18. Well, hopefully tonight was the last night we see Skubal start for the ol English D. Thanks Skube for all you did for Detroit. And good luck wherever you go. Please let the prospects that come back to Detroit for you know the best places to eat......
  19. If Skubal is starting on opening day, Illitch needs to sell the team the minute after he fires Harris. This would be the greatest catastrophe in the history of Detroit Sports. And that's saying something........
  20. True. Hence y I put the disclaimer "Now, did I deserve it..... probably." 👍
  21. Even more reason to do everything listed above. In this scenario, you're well under any cap that could be put in place. And it'd be a sustainable team for 4-5 years when the next wave of Tigers prospects (that are currently in Low-A or younger) are ready to come up.
  22. Alrighty boys. Time for ATF to talk. I have been saying since last year the Tigers overplayed the year and I got FLAMED (literally 80% of you wanted me to go play in traffic of US-23 with Semi's going as fast as they could I run back an forth blindfolded until I couldn't make it across). I said going into spring training that they would suck this year and last year was a mirage. Again, I got flamed (probably 90% of you this time. I could look up the posts but my therapist says to move on). Now, did I deserve it..... probably. At one point the Tigers had a 20 game lead in the division. Now having said that, the average hitter in the lineup was something like .240/.290/400 but meh, it's all good. I hate to say I was right when legit, 90% of this board flamed me so hard, but alas here we are. Now I can tell you, that we do not need a complete teardown like some of you are calling for now. When is the last time we legit had superstars come up to the Majors? Greene and Torkelson are as close to it as can be. Before them, Cameron Maybin and Andrew Miller? Greene is a long-term piece, and he should be locked up (something like 170 mil for 8 years). Torkelson is an average first basemen and I believe he can knock in 30 annually. I'd lock him up too. Out of our lineup right now, Torkelson, Kerry Carpenter, Greene, Dingler, Colt Keith, JHM and Parker Meadows are really the only players they should keep on the roster from position players. Flaherty (I think he'll be better next year), Holton, Hurter, Melton, Mize, Keider Montero, Paul Sewald, Will Vest are the only pitchers worth a **** to keep. That's 14/25 spots on the roster, thus leaving a lot of room for improvement. This off-season, they HAVE to trade Skubal. You don't wait till the trade deadline for next year because 1.) Skubal could get hurt, 2.) You get a hell of a lot more value to a team that gets him for a full year vs a half year. Thus you trade him NOW. This off-season! Don't wait! Armchair GM here (You can stop reading here as this is the ranting part where I get off my rocker, so if you don't want to hear stupid crap from here on out, stop reading): McGonigle and Clark are going to be legit. I'm not sold on Briceno and Liranzo as everyone else is. Too early to call on Bryce Rainer. Off-season move that makes too much sense for both teams that they won't do it: Skubal to Phillies for Andrew Painter, Aidan Miller and Justin Crawford..... Makes too much sense for both teams. Even if we have to trade in someone like Hao-Yu Lee or Max Anderson...... Dave Dombrowski hates young players. His team is designed to win NOW. He's ruined every single farm system he's ever had ownership of. The Phillies are in win-now mode, and next year may be the closing window. Skubal, Wheeler, Luzardo, Nola..... Gives them the best rotation in baseball with literally only the Pirates being able to be in the same breath as them. (Maybe LAD, but really, if Skub went to the Phillies, LAD would be a distant 3rd). Trade for guys that are young/blocked on their current teams. Drew Romo (C) Col, Keaton Winn (SP) San Fran, Tyler Wells (SP) Bal ...... guys like that. Take a chance on injuries but on guys that were injured 27 or younger, not 37 or older (Tyler Wells is 31 but he'd be a #2 on most teams, but Baltimore hates him for some reason)..... Middle of next year, McGonigle, Briceno and Liranzo should be up (if the latter two aren't traded). Clark could be a late-season call-up as well. Biggest off-season move: Sign Kyle Tucker 42 mil/10 years. He will age WAY better than Skubal, and provide leadership for the team. Going into the 2026/2027 off-season, the team looks something like this: Greene - LF Clark - CF Tucker - RF Carpenter - DH Torkelson - 1B McGonigle - 2B Aidan Miller - SS Colt Keith - 3B Romo - C Bench Pieces: Rainer (he might need another year),Dingler, Crawford, JHM, Meadows Rotation Mize Painter Wells Winn Melton BP/Other Starters Vest Flaherty Holton Hurter Montero Anyone else, that makes sense. Anyone not bolded (farm system/not listed above - like Baez [yeah right - what trade value], Jake Rogers etc....) can be traded for anything. (We'd probably need some more pitching/starts so you can trade whatever you want, however you want [including flipping Crawford if you have to but rather trade Meadows if you can and keep Crawford as your #4 OF here]). So anyways. This is what the Tigers should do. If you're still reading this then you're nuts. But in a perfect world, the Tigers aren't that far off. They were a mirage late last year, and the first half of this year (I truly forgive you all for thinking I should be shot and not a true Tigers fan and hope they still sneak into the playoffs as it's always easier to say "I told you so" after the fact). Great streak but they've come back to earth since. We need guys that are .280+/.340+/450+ hitters in the lineup. Not .200/.260/.400 hitters. We can do it if Harrison is smart. It all starts with Skubal getting moved this off-season. He cannot phak this up.
  23. He'll be 29 next season. Realistically he's in his prime for 3 more years. Really worth carrying 7 years at 40 million for a #3/4 ish starter? I dont think so. Trade him for a crapton then mvoe on.
  24. Sorry been out a while. I'd still trade Skubal for a package around Painter. Sorry.
  25. You good. My doctor just called cuz my blood pressure spiked ROFL.
