I think they need to bring in some veterans to build around. 3-6 year contracts should be on the table this offseason. At least I hope. I said in the other thread, our last run started when we got credibility signing Pudge which led to Ordonez signing. We need to do the same thing. I think Harris is going to keep Jung and Jobe in the minors with the hopes that one or both can break camp next season. It'd net us another 1st round pick if either wins ROY which both have the potential for. (Much moreso Jobe than Jung but ya never know).

Our roster is gonna need some tweaks. We have a lot of rule 5 players eligible next year...... Should be a busy offseason.

Now that the trade deadline is over, the next big thing is the offseason. Figured I'd get a head start. Allows them to keep Holiday. They have enough IF prospects to cover 3B (plus you have Urias right now) and they don't really need Basallo either. Povich is replaced/upgraded by Skubal. It seems like such a great fit for both teams.......

Out of all seriousness though.... What started the Tigers last run was signing was signing one bonafide player to get credibility. That was Pudge. We then signed Maglio Ordonez the next month. This offseason would be a GREAT opportunity for the Tigers to sign players. If they can get two every day players and pitching, they could really change this team around. It won't be cheap. They need to bring in Star Veterans to help all of our young players out. I harp on our young players probably more than anyone. I'm a firm believer you need at least 3 players with a .800 OPS+ if not 4 to be competitive in the post season. Why shouldn't we be looking at Juan Soto, or Corbin Burnes in the offseason? The Dodgers are over the luxury tax, cant afford, the Yankee's also probably can't afford as they will be over. Angels and Boston will be the two big market main teams running for these guys... Why not us? We easily can fit in the cap space. We have a lot in the pipeline, but not all will make it. We need to go out and spend on stars to build credibility here. Thats what we did in the past and that's what we're going to need to do again to be successful. This offseason we should be spending.....

Skubal for Basallo, Mayo, Cowser and Povich. Cowser, every day LF, Mayo Every day 3B and Povich our new #3 starter.

The Orioles just traded their #5 prospect (who would be some teams #1) for a guy with an injury history a 4.53 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP..... WTF is Harris and Greenburg doing.......

If we added Mayo, Cowser/Kjersted and Basello I could..... The Tigers aren't poor. Realistically they are probably one of the top 7 teams in MLB in terms of money they can spend.....

The only reason I think it'd be a failure is if they don't trade Flaherty. They should be able to get decent prospects and then have the money to re-sign him in the off season. I get that we get a QO pick after the first round, but it'd be nice to get a teams 3-10 prospect and then re-sign him after getting that player..... Don't get me wrong, I still think Skubal should go. But I think it woulda happened by now if it was.... (I'd love to be wrong here....)

Big difference from Lorenzen and Flaherty though. Flaherty will bet a pick near #35 in the draft. Lorenzen wouldn't of..... If we don't get at least a first round grade talent, we keep Flaherty. The return should be better than Hao-Yu.... Dalton Rushing for Flaherty is a good comparison....

If we need pitching to cover games, Dakota Hudson got cut by Colorado. Still hasn't been picked up. I think there's a few other vets that have been released.
