  1. And Kurtz missed a 5th home run by about 2 feet. He settled for a double.
  2. A catcher is not anything to get excited by. Look at all the other supposedly future superstar catchers lately. Joey Bart, Patrick Bailey, Adley Rutschman, and on and on. I absolutely hate when teams draft catchers high in the draft. And if for some reason they do hit, you want to move them to a different position.
  3. Jeffrey Springs could be realistic guy. And they wouldn't have to trade a bunch to get him. Maybe a minor league pitcher? The one starter that I heard was on the block is Mackenzie Gore of Washington. I would call the Nats up and see about that one, but I am guessing that will be a steep price Luis Robert of the White Sox is interesting. Lots of talent and looked like he was on his way to stardom in 2023 but Chicago has broken him. Not sure what it would take to get him or if he would be worth the trouble.
  4. It doesn't matter now because Naylor isn't available. For bargain basement guys off the bench, maybe McCutchen from the Pirates. I doubt if you'd need to give up much for them.
  5. Their offense is going to run through Torkelson amd Greene. None of the available 3B/OF are worth giving up the top prospects. I'd think getting some bullpen arms would help. This would be my #1 priority. I'm not sure if any of the starters available would be much of an improvement over #2-5 now. The playoffs rotation should be Skubal Bullpen day Mize Bullpen day Flaherty, Montero and Olson can go out to the Bullpen and if the game is out of hand, they can stay out there to keep the rest of the bullpen fresh.
  6. Never. Naylor can be the full time DH. They are using Jones and Keith right now as the DH's.
  7. I have this feeling they are going to squander the last 2 years of Tarik Skubal being a Tiger because of "we'll get 'em next year or the year after that when all those guys in the minors come up and all play like MVP candidates." They aren't going to try to trade for help.
  8. Meadows is a guy who will hover around a .210 average, play great defense, hit 10 hrs, visit the IL for 2 months a year, and be out of the league at 30.
  9. Naylor would have been a great pickup for the Tigers. They didn't give up anything of significance.
  10. You gotta have someone on the AAA roster. Why not him?
  11. JC, do you spend anytime thinking why would another team do some half-ass idiotic trade thrown out there to simply help the Tigers? I guess trading a guy who has 90 hrs over the last 2 and a half years, who just signed a 5 year deal at only $12 million a year for a guy who played at A ball and who is blocked by rising star Nick Kurtz at 1st, a guy who wouldn't get much playing time in Perez, a guy who has zero defensive skills and also looks like he can't hit mlb pitching in Jung, and a marginal 19 year old pitcher makes sense. Sure, why not? The A's have a nice core in Kurtz, Soderstrom, Wilson, and Rooker. They just need some pitching and the guys they are getting in return are not going to help them at all.
  12. Why would the A's do this? 4 below average for an all star? How does it make sense for the A's since they just signed Rooker to a team friendly 4 year contract?
  13. Why would the Reds do this? 2.5 games out of the wildcard. Matt McLain in his 2nd season at 2nd. It needs to make sense for the other team...just not a trade that helps the Tigers.
  14. I think Harris might add a bullpen arm but that's about it. I would like to see the Tigers go after Taylor Ward from the Angels. Not sure what they would need to give up, but he could slide into LF and Vierling slides back into a bench role, Carpenter can DH full time when he comes back.
  15. Trading prospects that most likely will end up just being another guy who struggles to hit or retire hitters isn't going for broke. You can think all those guys are going to be all-star stars but that isn't the way things work. Remember how Keith, Jung, and Malloy were supposed to all be studs? Two of those guys are going to be AAA players their career and the other is a below average hitter who will never get a lot of playing time because of atrocious defense. You have Skubal one more year, Greene, tork four more years, those are your 3 core players. Who knows how many more years of Carpenter you have left. They have Mize for another 2 years, not that he's super vital to the team. I'd prefer to see them add mlb players now and go for the championship as opposed to waiting and hoping those other guys turn out. And I'm not saying trade everybody in the farm system. But people get so excited about prospects just like people do about NFL draft picks. 90% of the time, they don't pan out
  16. Everyone thinks all the Tigers prospects are going to be hall of famers or perennial all stars at worst. They have a chance at the world series this season. They need to take it because there is a good chance those guys will end up like all those amazing Baltimore Oriole prospects everyone on this board was gushing their pants over....remember Cowser, Herjstad, Mayo, etc. Remember the guys that were going to dominate? Maybe 1 of the Tigers top guys turns out to be above average or a star. Most of the pitchers are going to be Casey Mize-esque at best. The majority are going to be bench players or average players. Get mlb talent for them while they are worth something.
  17. You really think he has the authority to make a trade without Ilitch's consent?
  18. Why? Trout as DH would be better than 3 minor leaguers who will all be busts or below average mlbers. You guys don't want the Tigers to try to win the World Series by giving up guys that will probably end up sucking in the majors? Majix Beans.
  19. I'll go big but I am sure pizza boy would never take on the contract and the Angels would probably never do the trade. Mike Trout for Jackson Jobe, Bryce Rainer, and another pitching prospect...maybe Melton? Maybe the angels would just laugh at it
  20. Is Brent Rooker available? He just signed a 5 year, $60 million deal. Thats a great contract, considering they gave Alex Cobb $15 million. Probably not but I'd call them to find out
  21. Colt Keith is worthless. He has no power, usually hits weak fly balls or ground outs and might be the worst fielder in the league. Definitely need an upgrade at DH.
