If he is as good of a hitter as people believe, they'll find a position for him. I can't believe his glove can be worse than Colt Keith's. Dude was on pace for about 50 errors a few years ago until they pulled him off the field. Torres won't be back next season, so that opens up 2nd base.
-
How many games before Valdez really hates his infield? Torres has below average range, Keith has limited range, substandard arm, and could easily lead the league in errors. Tork is average at best, and if Baez plays center field, shortstop will be McKinstry. Q
-
Keith's defense is going to be a huge problem. And as a DH, I don't think his offense is enough
-
Higginson also played against much better offensive players, so some of his stats ranked against others will be lower Tucker seems like an above average player but not an elite talent than people claim he is.

Nobody outside of Detroit cares about Detroit. It's not any different than me not caring about Colorado or Baltimore. For the record, I don't care about Bosto , New York etc
-
More like Alcantara, King, and Lugo?
-
The Pirates are one of the most profitable mlb franchises. Their owner doesn't care about the trash product he puts out on the field. He was fortunate to draft one of the premier players that people want to watch. And has another one in Griffin.
-
There were a lot of reports that the Tigers lowballed him with a non competitive offer. They really never had any intention of trying to sign him because they weren't going to offer anywhere close to what he would get as a FA and knew he wouldn't sign. Plus, comments that Skubal has made sure sounds like he doesn't have any faith in the front office and ownership.

The cost of the disgusting hot n ready pizzas will be going up.
-
Even if they did there will still be owners like Pittsburgh thatvw9n't spend anythijg
-
I was told that the Tigers have 8 amazing options at 3rd this season earlier in this thread.
-
I seriously don't understand the hate for Skubal and Boras. They are trying to make as much money as they can. Everyone on here claims its a business, but then get angry because a player is treating baseball as a business to try and increase their wealth. Do you get mad at yourself for trying to make more money at your job? Or are you more "I would prefer the owner/executives keep that money instead"
-
If they trade Skubal before the season starts, the Tigers will be dead to me. It would confirm my belief that they aren't serious about winning. I don't care about magic beans or Ilitch wanting to cut payroll. I want them to win now.
-
I know you want the Tigers to extend him, but why would he want to stay with an organization that he feels isn't trying when he can go to another team that will put him in a better position to win a WS?
-
It's only his last year of arbitration that he can compare to other pitchers Skubal can compare himself to any mlb player
-
But what has Pittsburgh actually tried to do with a once in a lifetime pitcher? They put a bunch of AAA players behind him. They deserve to lose him ASAP.
-
If he doesn't win his case, he isn't going to be happy making less than a scrub like Flaherty
-
Nowhere in my post did I mention the Tigers. No baseball owner even comes close to operating at a loss. Myself, like so many others, have more important things to spend our money on than giving it to a billionaire who gets the tax payers to build him stadiums etc And if more people went to the games, he would just pocket more instead of spending more.
-
It is a business, but like any business, if you put out an awful product most people aren't going to give their money for it. Hoodwinking people into spending a couple hundred bucks to go to a game and watch a bad baseball team is a tough sell.
-
If you have 8 3rd basemen, that isn't a good sign.
-
If only he could end up playing against the Tigers and only the Tigers, he would end up the greatest hitter ever.
-
I'm not saying the Tigers should have pursued Suarez but 3rd base is going to be a disaster for Detroit this year.
-
Paul Skenes is excited for the World Baseball Classic. Other than the 2 all star games he's appeared in, this will be the first time he has played with mlb caliber players
-
If there isn't a salary floor, then I'm all for eliminating the draft. I understand it is to help bottom feeders, but those teams typically do nothing to improve their roster. Why should someone like Skenes be exiled to a team with an owner that doesn't even try to put a competitive team on the field? I know, I know, the Yankees and Dodgers, but people act like the people who own other teams don't have billions of dollars laying around. They just don't want to spend any of it.

I have a relative who was engaged to one of the top pro bowlers. 300 games are a dime a dozen to him.
