OK, so not to play too much into things but since he has changed his stance he has actually played really well. I can't remember the exact date but it was around 6/19. Since 6/19 he has a .275/.409/.480 line good for .890 OPS while walking 18.9% of the time and K'ing 26%. Now will that translate to the Majors? No idea but he has played much better for the last 6 weeks than his season numbers reflect.

Difficult to deal with aka stuck with their valuations of their players and those on the block, and didn't budge. Sounds like the same execs that complained last year about the Flaherty trade. I think, given the last year and the overall results of the team and farm, Harris would have earned some trust from this fan base. They had a plan and executed on that plan. It reminds me of the draft where they selected players who may not have had the circuit track record of others but they saw something they liked and went with it. I am good with that. Finding an edge or what you believe is an edge and going with it. It may not work, but I like the creativity. Overall I would have preferred other players but it sounds like Pirates wanted Briceno for Bednar which I just wouldn't do either and I am guessing other teams were also asking for similar from us.

I just want to point out Correa has not been good this year. 0.1 WAR .704 OPS on the year.

Yes, I would keep an eye on Suarez for the Padres and Doval from SF. I honestly don't think it would cost too much to get either.

Money. They are up against the tax threshold so they may trade Cease (who is a FA this year) and Suarez due to their current salaries. To be able to bring in other salaries of equal value for positions of need.

Padres get Miller and Sears. Cost them DeVries and 3 unnamed prospects.

I think you overestimate the amount of hits that an average vs above average 3B takes away in a game. Hedges gets moved because defensive catchers are valuable and catchers in nature are generally not a very offensive position.

"Asking" prices are almost always leaked by someone to drive a narrative. I am sure they asked for Painter, why wouldn't you? They'll come back with counter and back and forth it goes. Highly doubt Painter gets moved for Duran.

Nah, Pirates won this trade easily unless by some magic Hayes actually puts up any offense, which given the back injuries is unlikely. They unload a contract and also bring in one with Rogers that they can flip as you pointed out. As a cheaply run team getting out of that contract is a big deal for them so this has to be a W for the Pirates.
