What is super interesting and showing how subjective these are fangraphs just dropped their top 100 and Thayron was 104, I generally trust FG and BA over Pipeline but it just shows how things are looked at differently across the industry. BA actually had him at 20th in the system so like he is clearly a divisive prospect.

FCL's season ended yesterday so I'm guessing they will simply be used in the bridge league (which is basically exhibition games) with the ability to push them up to Lakeland.

You are not getting Hancock for Torres or Vierling or both. He has 4 more years before FA. That being said I would absolutely throw in Max Anderson with them if that helps get the job done.

Interesting data from Fangraphs with the top 100 I can't get the table to look pretty but Rainer's Hard Hit % is top among all prospects listed and Liranzo is 3rd unfortunately both of their contact percentage is also among the lowest. Name Pos Org Age Chase% Contact% Max Exit ▴ EV90 Launch HardHit% Bryce Rainer SS DET 21 19.7% 66.6% 116.2 111.4 4 63.0% Max Clark OF DET 21 20.9% 85.6% 111.3 104.5 14 38.0% Thayron Liranzo C DET 23 20.0% 64.4% 111.2 106.2 17 56.0%

I would never discount Dombrowski on anything but there isn't a whole lot I would want from the Phillies. Painter hasn't regained form and Miller has a back injury.

Here is what the Athletic has to say about the potential return. Tarik Skubal Age: 29 Contract status: Owed $9.5 million in 2026, then a free agent 2026 stats: 6-5, 2.83 ERA in 82 2/3 innings, 2.2 fWAR (14.8 fWAR since 2024) Comparison: 2015 David Price Stats: 9-4, 2.53 ERA in 146 innings, 4.1 fWAR (13.7 fWAR prior two-plus seasons) In the last decade, the only starter with a recent resume in line with Skubal’s who was moved at the deadline was Max Scherzer, traded from the Nationals to the Dodgers in 2021. But Scherzer was dealt alongside Trea Turner, making that trade a difficult comp for others. So let’s go back to the last time the Tigers were holding a chip like this, with Price in 2015. That Detroit team had turned a decent start into a late-deadline decision to sell; this Detroit team faces similar uncertainty at the deadline, though thanks to a turnaround from a poor start. In 2015, one year after acquiring Price at the deadline from Tampa Bay, the Tigers sent him to Toronto in exchange for Daniel Norris, Matthew Boyd and Jairo Labourt. Norris was the big get as a top-25 prospect in the sport. Boyd had just made his debut as a potential back-end starter, and Labourt had made the Futures Game despite pedestrian on-field results. That trio didn’t click for Detroit, largely because Norris pitched below the league average during his tenure with the Tigers. Still, Detroit should be looking for a similar package this time around: a top-25 to top-50 prospect headliner, a valuable second piece that’s preferably in or close to the big leagues, and more of a lower-level flier.

The back half of that contract will come to haunt someone. Especially one with known injury concerns.

I mean I hope you are right! I would always prefer to be surprised by a return versus disappointed in one, which is why I am tempering expectations.

Man, you are going to be so let down by the return on Skubal if he gets traded. Here are what I would consider some more realistic trade packages for Skubal. Brewers: Adamczewski, Letson Dodgers: Hope, Ferris, maybe Harlan Braves: Smith-Shawver, Bauman Tampa: Hopkins, Forret Any of the above I would consider good-great offers for 1/2 a season of Skubal. I am definitely making the Dodgers pay more in this scenario but yeah I just want to temper expectations here because I already know everyone is going to be down on the return. Also Fischer has like 120K's between A+ and AA so not the control the strikezone type player that the Tigers covet.

Yes, can we please move the draft back to June and the trading of draft picks not just CBA ones

Cool.

Don't look now but that Matt Manning trade to the Phillies may have provided an interesting prospect. In the FCL Josueth Quinonez has played in 30 games but only 81 AB's but at 19 years old, his statline is .409/.500/.455 along with 12BB to 10K. Fangraphs Scouting Report 45. Josueth Quinonez, CF Signed: International Signing Period, 2024 from Venezuela (PHI) Age 19.0 Height 6′ 1″ Weight 172 Bat / Thr R / R FV 35+ Tool Grades (Present/Future) Hit Raw Power Game Power Run Fielding Throw 25/60 20/30 20/30 45/55 30/45 55 The Tigers acquired Quinonez from the Phillies at the 2025 trade deadline in exchange for Matt Manning, who had recently been DFA’d. Quinonez has had the best pure feel to hit among Philly’s DSL contingent the last two years, and for the second consecutive season, he had a single digit strikeout rate (8.1%). As you might expect, he tracks pitches to the contact point incredibly well, and moves the barrel around the zone. He doesn’t have great bat speed right now, but he’s long and lean, and might grow into some. Long strides help Quinonez glide into the gaps. He doesn’t have huge pure speed, but again, it’s possible he’ll get faster as he matures. For now, Quinonez is a young, contact-driven rookie ball prospect who should play stateside in 2026.

We certainly have not had a whole lot of good luck with our HS pitcher draftees.

2 weeks away, should be an interesting 2 weeks. Personally, I am good with either buying or selling, or a little bit of both but what they can't do is hold. You either have to go all in and address your weaknesses if you keep Skubal and everyone or you trade him and then Mize potentially being hurt throws a little fly in that ointment but I could see him or Flaherty moved as well if we do decide to sell. If they do a little of column A and column B, IE keep Mize Flaherty but trade Skubal I could be OK with that assuming we add elsewhere as well.
-
I certainly don't disagree; I do feel like there is prospect fatigue with him as he has been around a while. He is still almost 2 years younger than the average player in the EL and just turned 23, 2 weeks ago. To put it into context less than 20% of his plate appearances have been against pitchers younger than him. Health is absolutely something though.

Nope, its anything below 150K doesn't count towards the cap but it doesn't add up like 1-10.
