  1. I think this is Graham's first real healthy season so it's good to see some of the tools he was drafted for show up. I was curious when they got rid of Jim Jarvis is either him, Peck or Pacheco were going to get moved up but it didn't happen.

  3. I am not saying you can't be successful without the velocity but what I am saying is unless you have good-great command and control there is a higher likelihood of not having success with the lower velocity. That is all I am getting at is the low minors if you have a good off-speed pitch with lower velocity you can get great numbers but it doesn't always translate as you go further up. Sears isn't a super highly rated prospect but I always pull for guys like that.
  4. So, he's not exactly a soft-tossing lefty. Still, he generally sits in the 91-93 range, and those types tend to get hit harder as they progress to AA and AAA, based on my observation, because they usually have a breaking ball that younger players may struggle with. He does have a nice 10+ K/9 in A+ though so someone to keep an eye on as he is only 22 right now.
  5. 08/05/25 LHP Andrew Sears assigned to Erie SeaWolves from West Michigan Whitecaps. 08/05/25 OF Jackson Strong assigned to West Michigan Whitecaps from Lakeland Flying Tigers. 08/05/25 RHP Lucas Elissalt assigned to West Michigan Whitecaps from Lakeland Flying Tigers. Sears moved up to AA; he has great numbes in A+ but as a lefty who tops out at 95 I am always wary of those types.
  6. Since we are getting closer to the end of the DSL let's check in on our 2025 signees. These are the more notable signings, and as always, any DSL/FCL stat lines should be taken with a grain of salt. INF Sterling Bazil (Dominican Republic) .161/.301/.589 C Carlos Benavides (Venezuela) .263/.357/.761 INF Angel De Los Santos (Dominican Republic) .434/.522/1.182 (SSS, 19 games) LHP Anderson Diaz (Venezuela) 0-6 9.00ERA OF Jose Ramirez (Venezuela) .254/.359/.744 OF Cris Rodriguez (Dominican Republic) .324/.348/.916
  7. Sad news: Franyerber is done for the season. 08/04/25 Lakeland Flying Tigers placed SS Franyerber Montilla on the full-season injured list.

  9. OK, so not to play too much into things but since he has changed his stance he has actually played really well. I can't remember the exact date but it was around 6/19. Since 6/19 he has a .275/.409/.480 line good for .890 OPS while walking 18.9% of the time and K'ing 26%. Now will that translate to the Majors? No idea but he has played much better for the last 6 weeks than his season numbers reflect.
  10. Difficult to deal with aka stuck with their valuations of their players and those on the block, and didn't budge. Sounds like the same execs that complained last year about the Flaherty trade. I think, given the last year and the overall results of the team and farm, Harris would have earned some trust from this fan base. They had a plan and executed on that plan. It reminds me of the draft where they selected players who may not have had the circuit track record of others but they saw something they liked and went with it. I am good with that. Finding an edge or what you believe is an edge and going with it. It may not work, but I like the creativity. Overall I would have preferred other players but it sounds like Pirates wanted Briceno for Bednar which I just wouldn't do either and I am guessing other teams were also asking for similar from us.

  12. I just want to point out Correa has not been good this year. 0.1 WAR .704 OPS on the year.
  13. Not a bad trade prospect capital-wise
  14. How can you forget Casper Wells? Someone was going to fight his dad if I remember correctly.
  15. That is a lot of prospect capital.
  16. Yes, I would keep an eye on Suarez for the Padres and Doval from SF. I honestly don't think it would cost too much to get either.
  17. Money. They are up against the tax threshold so they may trade Cease (who is a FA this year) and Suarez due to their current salaries. To be able to bring in other salaries of equal value for positions of need.
  18. Padres get Miller and Sears. Cost them DeVries and 3 unnamed prospects.
