I mean, it's a lefty high schooler with good bat to ball skills who plays a premium position. The Tigers certainly have a type.

Weird start to the draft so far.

BA's final Mock - Chose Quick again for #34 24. Tigers — Kayson Cunningham, SS, Johnson HS, San Antonio Why He’s The Pick: Cunningham might not make it here but he would fit right in line with the profiles the Tigers have prioritized at the top of the draft in recent years: hitterish high school lefthanded hitters. What They Are Getting: Cunningham has a case as the best pure hitter in the class—high school or college. He’s got a snappy, direct swing and a tremendous track record of performance against the best arms in the class. He’s also a bit smaller and might slide to second base. Other Names We’re Hearing: Daniel Pierce, SS, Mill Creek HS, Hoschton, Ga.; Slater de Brun, OF, Summit HS, Bend, Ore.; Anthony Eyanson, RHP, LSU Dart Throw Names For Later Rounds: Riley Quick, RHP, Alabama; Coy James, SS, Davie County HS, Mocksville, N.C.; Aaron Watson, RHP, Trinity Christian Academy, Jacksonville; Anthony Eyanson, RHP, LSU; Charles Davalan, OF, Arkansas; Mason McCraine, OF/LHP, Glenwood HS, Phenix City, Ala.

https://www.mlb.com/royals/news/final-mlb-mock-draft-2025 I like Callis' picks better than Mayos here.

I would disagree. If Woody Hadeen can get moved up halfway through Franyerber who is 2+ years younger than him and put up arguably better numbers should be moved along before him. That's just my thoughts. He has had a 175 wRC+ for the past month. He hit a lull in May. That being said we'll see what happens after the draft, that may push him up at the point.

108 off the bat!

I was curious to see how Franyerber had done since Rainer went down with his season-ending injury. Honestly, for a little over a month, he has been on a tear. Quick side note, he is running a .448 BABIP so definitely not sustainable but the numbers are pretty fantastic .354/.433/.544 12% BB rate while K'ing 21%. I get why they pushed Hadeen up as he is a little older and you would like that K rate below 20 but still think they should have pushed Franyerber up to A+. Even with his slump in May he still has a 125 wRC+ on the season.

BA is on the Cunningham train now as well. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2025-mlb-mock-draft-6-0-first-round-pick-predictions-for-every-team/ 24. Tigers — Kayson Cunningham, SS, Johnson HS, San Antonio The Tigers have targeted hitterish high school hitters as much as any team in recent years and Cunningham’s bat would be a steal at this pick. He’s got a few potential landing spots in front of this, but some in the industry think he has a chance to fall into the 20s because of his size. Kevin McGonigle comparisons would take off if this happened. 34. Tigers — Riley Quick, RHP, Alabama I’ll continue to stick with Quick here for the Tigers since I don’t feel more confident with any other player. He’s one of the most physical pitchers in the draft with one of the hardest fastballs, and could take a huge step forward in a good pitching development system.

Law has us taking a Gamble (I'll see myself out). Sean Gamble Player Profile School: IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), Bats: L, Throws: R Gamble is the kind of high-upside athlete Tigers scouting director Mark Conner has always favored, and the IMG Academy infielder — although I think he moves to center eventually — has such a strong commitment to Vanderbilt that I think he either goes in the first round or goes to school. I think the Tigers would take Hall if he’s here, and they could take a fast-moving college arm here like Riley Quick. They pick again at 34.

2025 Detroit Tigers General Discussion Thread

I would agree, Anderson does deserve to be moved up, I just haven't seen any indication of it yet. Trying to find AB's for Jung, Lee and Anderson should be interesting. Wonder if one of them will pick up a 1B or OF glove.
-
So Valencia gets moved to Toledo; so your top 5 batting order for Erie should be something like this? Clark McGonigle Anderson Briceno Liranzo That looks pretty good.
-
My guess is when he stops K'ing 30% of the time. That being said if he can limit the strikeouts, I am sure that line would get even better.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/45677790/2025-mlb-draft-guide-one-big-question-intel-nationals-angels-mariners Detroit Tigers Day 1 picks: No. 24, No. 34, No. 62, No. 98 Bonus pool: $10,990,800 One big question: Will the Tigers hit paydirt with another left-handed-hitting prep position player? Bryce Rainer, Max Clark and Kevin McGonigle have all been immediate hits in pro ball for the Tigers after being taken with first-round picks in the past two drafts. There are some candidates to continue the trend when the Tigers pick at 24 and 34, including Kayson Cunningham, Jaden Fauske, Slater de Brun and Sean Gamble, though the Tigers have also been tied to Michael Oliveto (may fit better in the second round) and Coy James (right-handed hitter). When a team has two early picks, it often gets tied to lots of players because, in different scenarios, it could go over or under slot or high school or college or hitter or pitcher at each spot. Anthony Eyanson, Aaron Watson and J.B. Middleton are some of the pitchers the Tigers have been tied to, and keep an eye on Jaiden LoRe (another right-handed-hitting shortstop) as a target at a later pick.

You have to think Max Anderson is soon to follow but they have been playing him at 3rd the last couple of games so maybe he'll stick in Erie to learn that position more. I don't think he has the arm or athleticism for that position but it's the minors so you might as well find out.

Got him for Chafin last deadline. Good pickup so far by Harris

I am now very interested in who gets moved up and down respectively as well. Strong and Franyerber moving up possibly.
