  1. Such a responsible businessman https://www.kob.com/new-mexico/trumps-unpaid-bill-remains-from-2019-campaign-stop/
  2. Here's another one. https://www.propublica.org/article/nevaeh-crain-death-texas-abortion-ban-emtala?fbclid=IwY2xjawGRx4xleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHb7k1l59ZnL7-n7MLU3xOaDpXeHkNQULjB5sl2Ij63VKUQrA-E8QG8DQrg_aem_i8sfqyk2RTwKZH8LYfXASQ
  3. There's cheating in every state Harris wins, according to him.
  4. While I'm aware the West Wing is a television show, President Bartlett makes my point far better than I do.
  5. Just good clean fun, right? https://www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/news/kamala-harris-chains-pennsylvania-halloween-parade/
  6. That, and we've seen multiple times that his supporters don't seem to care what he does. In order to beat him, we have to get enough people to vote for Harris to outnumber them. I do think a lot has been done to do that. Will it be enough? I don't know.
  7. It still puzzles me that anybody would trust Drumpf on the economy. With all his bankruptcies, failed business ventures, and current campaign debt in the billions? His track record sucks. So if people are thinking twice I'm happy. And while I don't think it would be possible to accomplish quickly, Elon's plan to slash 3 trillion from the government spending (all while spending millions and possibly billions to deport 'undesirables') would have a disastrous effect. It sounds similar to policies of the Hoover administration and we all know how that worked. I think people would shocked to know just how many Americans lived in abject poverty before safety nets and worker safety rules came to be-unfortunately it's still unacceptable how many Americans are hungry and unfortunately it can get worse. Even if the economy eventually stabilizes there's a good chunk of people who will never recover. How many of us have jobs that are financed in part by government programs? How many of us depend on roads, water, energy, transportation, and other infrastructure that's funded by government? How many businesses have been subsidized? OK, so they'll be exempt from cuts, but still. Elon, can we have those billions you accepted for SpaceX back? (Sorry to drag you into this via replying to your post, MTB, you just happened to have something that highlights what I believe should be a strength for Harris)
  8. I'm from New England, I can't help it. 😉 I'm actually fine, most of the time-as long as I stay off of twitter and all of its Russian bots spewing out trash. And I almost never go there. Twitter was cool, X not so much.
  9. I hope you're right. I want my nieces to have just as many opportunities as my nephews. And for me it's not the only issue. What I've seen of his other proposals makes me think it would be a disaster economically, too. Is it true he and his campaign, are billions in debt right now?
  10. I think many of us are preparing for the worst, tbh. The scenario of Harris wins popular vote, but not the electoral vote is feeling way too possible.
  11. I've been disappointed by white women voters before, especially my fellow Gen Xers.
  12. And that's not even his scariest belief.
  13. About 95% of the people I know are voting for Harris. That doesn't mean she's going to win the election. I'm aware that you're in a swing state and I am not, of course. And yeah, I agree with others, you need to find better people to hang out with.
  14. Apt comparison... of course, unlike Drumpf Dukakis is a decent, intelligent person who unfortunately made a lot of foolish choices in that campaign. 😞
  15. I hope you're right. I just can't help but remember the phrase "He gets to be lawless, she has to be flawless," and nobody can be flawless. And fair or not, she will be judged more harshly.
  16. DIdn't you know? Unless he wins all 50 states it means people cheated.
  17. Good analogy. Another point people don't seem to get is that both Socialism and Communism are not forms of government, but economic systems. On the topic of welfare-in addition to your points my guess is many people think Corporate welfare is just fine.
  18. IIRC, BST's name was Ian, so my guess is that it's not the same person.
  19. I don't know if he himself has officially called them Nazis, but... I do have a few connections on FB who are MAGAts, who post memes comparing Nazis with Democrats, and who regularly call them socialists and/or communists. I remember a while back somebody from the old board from the UK, who described himself as a real Socialist, saying that to him Obama was very right wing (was his handle Blue Square Thing, maybe?). I'm pretty sure that there are an awful lot of people out there who really have no idea what Socialism and Communism are.
  20. There's a meme going around that if the Democrats could control the weather, wouldn't they have sent the hurricane straight to Mar-a-Lago? I've heard that conspiracy also, though.
  21. Sadly, the cult would probably rally behind him as Rambo.
  22. Um, I'll choose the bear in the forest, if you don't mind.
  23. Me too. (does anybody else run out of reactions every day on this board?)
  24. I care about what happened 30, 40, and even 75 years ago, and it's important for people to understand history in order to lessen the chance that it will be repeated. A lot of what the middle class is going through now is a result of policies that were put into place in the 80s (income inequality, lack of investment in infrastructure, lack of exposure to different viewpoints on the media, etc), and a lot of these things have developed over decades. The more people who understand this, as opposed to thinking it's all because of the current President, the better off we'll be. It took us decades to get here, it won't be fixed overnight-especially if you vote for somebody who's going to expand the policies that caused it in the first place. And I'm aware that there are many who won't get the message. I'm hopeful that enough people can.
