  1. Ramirez thrown out at 3B but his helmet came off while sliding and almost caused him to be safe as Vierling first tagged that after it was off his head.  My question is couldn’t you still consider that part of the player?  He slid head first and in the bounce it came off.

This dude is sufficiently lunatic for this thread.

Reuters deep dives into dozens of ****ty business practices by elon

Reuters exposes grave harms to consumers, workers and laboratory animals across Elon Musk’s manufacturing empire, resulting in investigations by U.S. and European regulators and calls for action from U.S. lawmakers.

yeah I've heard the "East of 275" sentiment here too.

I've been in projects with folks from the city and we convene in Livonia and they don't feel save in Livonia.

I worked in Livonia so I know.  I served on a jury and during questioning the judge asked about trusting cops or feeling targeted.  A black man, wearing scrubs said yes and stated "I work in Livonia at a labratory and get off work at 1:30 in the morning"

As I recall, Nick asked for an extension when approached by Gardenhire about working out at first base. I can guess that didn’t land well with the Tigers front office.
My suspicion has always been that the Tigers weren’t really committed to keeping Nick. Again, Gardenhire was a temporary manager and it wasn’t a secret at all. To what degree Gardy really gave a crap what Nick said, one way or another, who knows. Maybe the Tigers were committed to bringing the team salary into a certain window and extending Nick would have created problems there.
so to answer your question, I don’t believe Detroit was interested in keeping Nick. They were getting top draft picks and opted to move on in that direction.
    What’s your take?
Rereading this I’ll add, I believe if the Tigers had made a realistic and good faith offer early on Nick would likely have signed. I think things between the two parties had soured to the point that both sides weren’t interested in the end.

I am not sure on giving a guy like him a long term deal.  I was surprised he got the money he did so that shows what I know. I was never high on the guy. I think he fits in when he’s among talent but not a key guy.  The Tigers were bent on tearing it down despite what they say.

    My unsolicited take:

To this day I hate the way the Castellanos thing went down. I believe Nick could have been a decent enough first baseman. He’s a proven bat. Gardenhire was the placeholder manager which didn’t help the situation. Were I the GM, I would have extended Nick. Obviously they didn’t and as it stands the Tigers are stuck at first base. A Cabrera in decline is succeeded by what is appearing to be a blown draft pick.
To be clear, I was saying the exact same thing back when this whole back and forth was going on prior to the trade.

    Would Nick have signed?

I get this weird feeling that Britney Spears is really dumb.      I don't know why.   Just a hunch.      But still, it's her money, if she wants to blow through it all, it's her right.   Just don't want to hear sob stories when she does.

I'm just not sure she's naturally dumb, or if she was kind of raised to be this way.   You have that and then putting a teenager in a fishbowl - chased by photographers everywhere she goes and you get what we see now.

How can anyone in that situation expected to have any kind of normal life.

    It's sad, but not surprising.

I offer up that it's a combination of her upbringing and some kind of mental instability.  When you can't be normal in your formative years it has an effect. She's symbolic in a lot of ways and maybe represents the end point of adults being able to abuse child stars in that way. Abuse comes in many forms and even the center of it all surrounded by adults can be affected.

  7. The thing with Tork is sure a puzzle but I'm not sure what can be done.  Anything a writer or person twitter or the internet can say or offer is obviously already known to the team and to him. Sometimes the body can't or won't do what it needs to do.  Hitting is hard.

  8. I do not get the hype over these... maybe because I'm old but I really don't give a ****.  What is the big deal?  Soccer's always been "the sport of the future" for all of my 50 years of living.

THe Tigers had a tweet with some players walking into a room seeing them and they reacted as if they saw Sidney Sweeney starting at them nude with a bowl of strawberries.

Can't disagree with most of this. DirecTV always offered me a substantial discount to stay, but it just got to the point where I wasn't seeing the value, especially since I was already paying for Hulu (the "regular" version). Combine that with the fact that what we actually watch on TV is very little, it was just time to make the switch. Navigating Hulu Live TV is a little wonky, but we will adjust quickly enough. It helps that each of us can have our own Favorites channel guide. I also like that I can click on Sports, and it shows me all of the live and upcoming games to choose from, and I can further narrow that by sport. We also can now truly just have one remote we use for everything, which has long been an annoyance to Mrs Shades of Deivi Cruz.

Regardling Hulu Live... I remember a case this year when the Wings game was only on Hulu... and I couldn't find it.  On my phone it came right up on the main screen and I could put it on.  On my TV's app... it wasn't the same options when the app opened up.  I searched all kinds of keywoards and couldn't find it.

Swept on the road by one of thee best teams in baseball and the sky is falling. Jeez.

and a decent chance to win all 3.

Why can't fans be happy that this org and team is no longer an embarassment?  We are watching a toddler learn to walk and run and instead of marvelling at the progress we're yelling at it for falling down and crying.

Interestingly, the Tigers have a crapload of these guys in the system.

Basically, "failed starters"... or guys who are good once through a lineup but get figured out their second time through a lineup and tend to get blasted that 2nd time through:

In Detroit: Holton (2), Wentz (2-3) and Faedo (2-3) have shown the ability to pitch 2 or 3 innings at a time. Holton is 50/50 whether he goes 1 or 2 (without checking the actual numbers) and pitched a lot of 2 inning appearances last year IIRC. Wentz is doing OK this year (not so well last year) at a 1.24 WHIP and 0.79 ERA, 11 inn's in 7 appearances. Faedo has the 6th highest innings (after the 5 starters) at 21 in 12 appearances with a 1.14 WHIP and 2.57 ERA.

Toledo: Guessing Montero, Flores, Hurter, Brieske (already a middle innings guy, last year with Detroit 1.37 WHIP, 3.60 ERA... so not terrible) head towards multi-innings middle relief guys instead of sticking as starters. Right now they're all struggling a bit in Toledo though... The Org is still high on all these guys though as far as I know... Also: who is good out of these guys versus can't cut it in MLB? Answer: "I don't know." 3rd base.

Erie: guessing Troy Melton ends up in the BP as a 2-3-inning guy when he gets higher up.

Jaden Hamm at WM is an unknown to me. I don't know what his "stuff" is. He looks good as a starter at WM... what kind of carrying power is that though...?

The guys in the Org with the highest chances of remaining a starter (just on a WAG) I am guessing would be Manning, Jobe, and Lockhart. Maybe Hamm?

I think that's how most relievers end up being relievers....
