well, there is nothing I'd love to see more than for Trumpers to have to have to win back their standing in decent society by making their appearances before an American version of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to explain what they were thinking. Well, a guy can dream.
-
Trump will end up being like Vichy France or the Vietnam War. After WWII ended every Frenchman claimed to have hated Vichy and supported le Resistance, almost all imaginary. By 1980 in the US you couldn't find anyone that admitted having supported the war in SE Asia even though Nixon won the election on a pure hawk platform. In 15 yrs you won't be able find anyone who will admit to have voted for Trump. They will expunge it from their ledgers.

to me the word that fits for Trump is just "Vile." Short, concise, apt. The apotheosis of a vile human being.

I'd like to see Cade shot % broken down by quarters. Just an impression but it seems like he comes out cold a lot of nights and picks it up later.

well we can only hope this is true because the front end was was supposed to the be easy part of the schedule I think, -
sure - a good way to obscure your real direction is to move in all directions.
-
the NHL is a different situation. The Wings have spent to the cap - if anything the Wings have hampered themselves at points by not leaving themselves cap space to pick up better players that become available because they spent it on poor players.

Healthy Bernard-Docker is a plus over Hamonic. But good goal tending makes all the difference. Wings are still making their share of mistakes but they aren't all turning into goals against. -
yeah - I'll admit it, I was afraid Cade was going to end up a 'tweener' not big enough for a power game, not fast enough to be a great slasher, and a mediocre shooter. Instead he's turned out to be just about at the sweet-spot; and the shooting - good enough at clutch time if not always so much early in games. Mobley's about what he was supposed to be, if he could stay on the court

even if you sign him, it's two steps forward one step back. They can't back-fill well enough for Edvinsson to make Hughes enough of an add. -
Yeah - I thought that was lazy management.
-
Melton should be better than Anderson but we'll see.
-
I saw Janen look bad a couple of times last season - hope that isn't the trend.
-
actually when I was a student (this was the original BJ management) they had a 'secret' menu. There were some things the regulars could ask for that were never put on the menu at all. Tribal knowledge at it's best.

has he talked about playing with his brother? Everyone assumes it's a big deal but is it fact or just assumption? -
yeah - we see him step back and think about taking a jumper all the time, but he always changes his mind. Probably working on it in practice but no game confidence. It seems like the super high energy guys often have more trouble getting to that instant of calm needed to get off an accurate shot when they're at full tilt in a game.

Grasso with a statement "We're disappointed.. We're committed" etc. Pointedly no mention of Warde.
-
The schedule and opposition injuries have been very kind to them (and OKC!) but the improvement in Cade's, Duren's and Thompson's play are real and Robinson hasn't been the step back people were afraid he would be so while I don't see them wining 80% the rest of the way it's looking like a fun season. And you have another potential shooter percolating in Ivey. If he can solidify a shooting contribution they'll get even a bit better.
-
I think it may be more likely that McGonigle will end up playing SS for some period than that we want him playing SS over that period. How many wins will that cost? None if you couldn't get anyone else! But it may not help their chance of winning a WS either.

they'd only be giving zero WAR, on average anyway....😉

Still bummed. Hughes seemed like the guy that might have move Yzerman take his shot. Now we are left knowing that even as good a fit as there is out there either a)isn't going to temp Yzerman to make a bold move or b) is going to cost so much he shouldn't make a bold move. Meanwhile the Wings go back to creeping toward respectability. -
I'd guess it didn't happen because it came down to a session between two ex-Olinemen and in that ethos, no-one else is invited.

That's still a season a half away. They're just going to need to find ways to get better in that time without Hughes being part of it. -
there is a bit of Monday morning QB'ing going on. Having staff in the room wasn't going to be make a difference to what happened that night and Moore probably had privacy rights in that discussion with Manuel that he'd have had to be asked to waive. To have made a difference you would have needed someone tethered to him for 24 hrs when he left the site and you can't do that without consent either.
