  1. I think the dirty little secret is that they are harder to make to consistent quality - safer to leave it to the big guys who have the scale to iron out the bumps.
  2. a lot of the media stuff is not sustainable. Each one's valuation had gotten inflated based potential to capture a total market that remains chopped up in a zillion little pieces. But that's just another symptom of the general over inflation of equity values created by 20 yrs of people fleeing bonds. As interest rates rise it's going to get very painful at the stock exchanges.
  3. Maybe they want Garcia to pitch more regularly than he would be likely to get the chance for here. He has a lot of experience innings to make up.
  4. I guess Willi has hidden talents us mortals haven't seen yet. I will admit to being surprised at how strong his arm was on a play he made at short on Sat. I didn't remember that about him. In any case, you know Harold is way set up to regress to his mean now, so the second IF should be timely.
  5. No. Schoop has started making some contact, I'm less worried about him than Jeimer, who looks really lost from both sides.
  6. Chafin with an inning for the Hens today - 0H, 0BB, 2K.
  7. absolutely. I hear tell Clemens if off to a good start....maybe someone in the rear view mirror will light a fire under Candy. Some guys are able to use that.
  8. Let's hope he never hears his name pronounced right at the arena again.
  9. Jeez, don't let him start on "Bark at the Park" night.
  10. I'd have been fine with the corp tax cut if they had started taxing dividends as regular income. That is really the way it should work. The old claim of 'double taxation' on dividends goes down the drain when corp income taxes are low, so there is no reason for the distinction to remain.
  11. yes - (provider = DirectTV/Stream - they carry the RSN for a surcharge - $5/mo or so)
  12. two decent throws to 2b by Barnhart today. The earlier when they didn't get the runner was actually better.
  13. they got a game against some very mediocre pitching and cleaned up. You almost wonder if a team losses it's edge at the plate after one of the those.
  14. another terrible AB from Candy. Swings at 3-1 a foot outside. The dearth of runs wouldn't be so bad if the Tigers were getting robbed on some hard hit ball, but they're just been futile.
  15. Roni of the apparently bionic fingernails.
  16. it would be nice to believe this is the end of the road for the Le Pen 'dynasty', but probably not....
  17. As suspected, Alexanders stuff looked a lot better against ST batters than guys who have settled in. He'll keep us in games, but he's still end of rotation material.
  18. One of the strengths of Torks game is the one that is only ever noticed by its absence - he's handling the low quality throws. I've watched him dig any number of bouncers and wide throws. That may be more important than how many batted balls any 1b gets to. He's also looked fine going to 2nd for the lead runner. Of course we don't have much to compare to because neither Cabrera (still good with throws but zero range), Schoop or Candelario have been any great shakes there in recent seasons.
  19. Tork's play was tough, Haase's was just a mistake/inexperience, he didn't play the wind - you have to plan for it before you start your route. An experienced OF would/should have know that ball was going to fade to the left. It's blowing pretty steady out there it shouldn't have been a surprise.
  20. you'll get arg from me about the limitations of Hillary as a candidate! Hillary was running a victory lap campaign without ever having won anything....🙄
  21. except the reality is that the Trump admin did send up almost no legislative initiatives, economic or otherwise. And it's not just Trump, heck the GOP is now so policy driven (not) that they've even abandoned the pretense of platforms. You can argue about the value of candidate position papers, but there is no comparison at all between the GOP and the Dems in terms of the their policy shop - at least beyond the anti-gay, anti-franchise, and Christian fascist stuff.
  22. OK - I assumed he meant Chris since the topic had been CNN+
  23. I don't dislike Funk in particular, but he's like Jimemez and to some degree Cisnero as well, in that you will always be able to trust that the walk demon is nearby patiently waiting.
  24. the kick yes - but Carlton was thin/wiry, not quite Chris sale, but visually Skubal is a brick outhouse by comparison. 🧱
