As for timing, if your point person for contract negotiations resigns right after extension season and not getting anybody locked up long term, that may be a scab to pick at.

Menzin hasn't really been the analytics guy for a while. He was more that by default in the Dombrowski days, but once Avila started building up the analytics staff, Menzin's duties were more of a traditional assistant GM/jack-of-all-trades type... My theories... Crowded front office, personalities clashing. Between Greenberg and the new VP of Analytics hire shifting Sartori into more of Menzin's duties, he may have felt marginalized. He was named in the racial discrimination suit by the fired clubhouse employee a couple years ago. Maybe something came from that. Could just be burned out... A lot of hours.
