I had a very very extreme respiratory illness this week, the worst I can remember. Sore throat that made it tough to eat or sleep. Deep chest pains Tuesday I had to get checked for pneumonia. Intense fever and chills nightly. Could only sleep about 2 hours at a time. And unlike normal colds, this has lingered for almost a week, as I am finally somewhat normal on Day 6. Negative for COVID, Flu (vaxxed against both) and Strep. No signs of Mono. Anyways, the thought I had over and over again this week is a CDC that wasn't sold for parts earlier this year probably would have named this and alerted us about this beast.

I mean Baz has three years of control so this isn't a full comparison, but wow if that is the package he netted, I'm not sure any team has what Skubal could command.

The one I've gone after most is Sakowski, because he straight up got caught red-handed plagiarizing Tigstown and faced zero consequences and was granted legitimacy by legit outlets.

This is kinda where the Emily's of the world blowing smoke up people's butts about Dixon Machado or Brock Deathrage leads people to think all prospects fail. McGonigle is generational and the best Tigers position prospect of my lifetime. Could he fail? Yes. But lumping him in because others before him took some lumps is overly simplistic. McGonigle is on another level, and I don't think that is emphasized enough.

I see three regular position players (Lux, Busch, Ruiz), two back end rotation guys (with injury issues: Gonsolin, May), and an 8th inning guy for several years (Graterol). Not sure where that assessment comes from.

I mean, the same is true of me, and we are about the same age, but Harris's gray hair situation has really accelerated. There's a common thread between him saying that the same players doesn't mean the same team, and me pushing back on the lazy "who acquired them" analysis in the Avila arguments last week, though. I just don't think people fully grasp, for whatever reason, the role that development plays on today's game. If you want to take a shot at the staff, you can point to how the offense regressed down the stretch.
