  1. To be honest, not really.... maybe some of the hardliners in the House will vote against articles of impeachment. But again, it's no coincidence that this is happening as Paxton has gotten to a point where he's more of a liability to other elected GOP pols than an asset at this point. And no, I don't think Trump will be a knight in shining armor for Paxton... if the winds are blowing toward impeachment, he's not going to expend political capital to save him.
  2. Sure. They are probably gonna have to ride Wentz... Which, it is what it is. We know the stuff is there, obviously it'd be better if they could drop him to Toledo to find it, just have to see if he can bounce back next time. As far as Tyler Alexander goes, increasingly unclear as to his point on this team... Seems like every outing is 2IP, 3R lol
  3. Setting aside his lack of morals, decency and honesty both personally and professionally, the big problem with Trump for me isn't so much that he's (now) a Republican. It's that he's a populist... and populism is a pretty big turnoff for a lot of voters because it tends to be long on griping, complaining and exploiting outgroups (ie. all the culture war BS) and short on actual policy solutions. And unfortunately, he has remade the entire party in his image... even in who the establishment Rs have elevated (ie. DeSantis), they are signaling that they think the problems that voters have with Trump are more style over substance... just repackage the Trumpism without Trump. And it's very much not clear that is the case... If the Democratic Party ran a candidate who positioned himself like the above, they wouldn't make it to Super Tuesday, let alone win the whole thing because the largest constituencies in the party (ie. black voters, college whites, etc.) are more policy driven than grievance driven voters.
  4. Yet one assumes that you had no issue with members of his administration or inner circle defying Congressional subpoenas. Am I wrong?
  5. As far as Chas' second point goes, though I understand the skepticism, I do think he stands a good chance at conviction here. In particular, his whistleblower lawsuit has brought other members of the House and Senate to the brink of legal liability (ie. Paxton making asks of them that would lead to the FBI knocking on their doors) and they aren't interested in that. Either way, in any one party state, whether it be a GOP one like Texas or a Dem one like Illinois, you are gonna have factions within the party and they aren't always gonna align. Which means that just because Ken P wears the "R" after his name doesn't mean he's universally loved or doesn't have enemies within his party. Particularly given all the criming he has done over the years. The combination of these factors just means it's his chickens coming home to roost imo.
  6. Olson has pitched better for sure, but he usually struggles adjusting to a new level... So probably not a savior.
  7. I believe Zach McKinstry got some tosses in earlier in the year against Boston? Overall it has been a while
  8. OTOH, last time the Tigers were on Apple TV, Wentz was brilliant. Maybe he'll bounce back
  9. I keep saying it, but the worst was Woodbury getting saying (paraphrasing) that they gave all those ABs in Spring Training to Cesar Hernandez only to go out and trade for McKinstry. You would think the beat writers would know better than to overvalue ST stats.
  10. Translation: "Fox did something that is indefensible, so what about _____ instead" Hilarious hearing a Trump fan care about Congressional subpoenas after living through years of ignored subpoenas during the previous couple of Congresses
  11. What's incredible to me is that they staged it in ****ing Naperville. Was there not a diner in the 19th Ward they could have found to at least give the segment a dint of plausibility? Instead of hauling ass out to a suburb in an entirely different county? As propaganda goes, it's just so low rent...
  12. He also has a thing for irrationally hating Matt Vierling as well. Not that Vierling has proven himself to be elite or anything, but there are far worse players on this roster who don't engender that kind of hostility
  13. Can't recall a game where the Tigers so thoroughly dominated the strike zone compared with their opponent.
  14. Man, Giolito is a mess right now
  15. Disagree... Malloy has struggled of late, but having Keith jump two levels is Tigers Twitter fever dream stuff.
  16. At some point, he's gonna have to take questions from someone outside the echo chamber, right?
  17. It was a literal echo chamber
  18. Wouldn't that make genius here the first Speaker to preside over a default as well?
  19. I don't think there will be a default either as it wouldn't likely be all that good for either side, tbh. But man, it is really frustrating to have to live through this stupidity every few years over an arcane rule that shouldn't even exist. Especially when peoples lives or livelihoods are on the line.
  20. You kinda get to the point: at the micro level, in daily interactions, people of different backgrounds probably play nice way more often than they don't. Even in this day and age. At the macro level, the people with the loudest microphones who purport to speak on behalf of any number of causes, Christianity included, are some of the worst possible messengers. And that's where a lot of the "ridicule" comes in.
  21. My thing is that many marginalized groups that are now seeing more acceptance in society have been mocked and demeaned for years. It took until basically the last decade for acceptance for LGBTQ people to start to enter the mainstream. And a lot of that originated with the people ROMAD referenced: hardcore evangelical Christians, particularly those with a microphone such as Franklin Graham or Jerry Falwell.... I kinda wish there was a little more acceptance or understanding of that.
  22. I kinda look at the media as having sort of a "Ralph and Sam" relationship with Trump / GOP.... on one hand, they are adversarial and lock horns a lot, on the other hand they want the access and need them in order to drive news, which in turn helps drive ratings and clicks.
  23. Exactly. Yet, for whatever reason, Jake Sherman and other members of the "liberal" media continue to do paid PR for McCarthy and Co. Weird.
  24. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if raising the debt ceiling is considered a concession by the GOP, doesn't that imply that they favor the US defaulting?
  25. Essentially two bullpen days in a row for the KC Royals.
