  1. Yeah, it's about having a sample size to work with. Baseball has a long season; 10 games is basically the equivalent of one game in the NFL... teams in the NFL generally aren't written off one game into the season, or at least teams that aren't complete dumpster fires (which, tbf, the Tigers probably fit in this category for the MLB at the moment). And even good teams have stretches of terrible baseball, even where they can go below .500 during 10 game stretches. So yeah, others MMV, but I'm gonna keep my powder dry and watch some more baseball before concluding they are gonna lose 120 games.
  2. Sure thing. But doesn't that kinda prove the point that it's kinda pointless to make this comparison anyway off of 9 games?
  3. To provide a different example (not involving Tigers history), last year's Cincinnati Reds started 3-22 and managed to finish at exactly 100 losses. Kinda expect that to be a better comparison when it's all said and done, which is unacceptable regardless.
  4. That owner let the team wither on the vine going into 2003. He deserves zero excuses.
  5. Generally agree with you on all points, but on taxes, not sure Chicago comes out ahead against Detroit, let alone anywhere.
  6. You can be frustrated about the latter without being an ***hole.
  7. Gotta be honest, parts of our online fanbase have really shown their *** since the announcement. At least online. The trade may not work out in the end, but it's not worth being so callous about the human beings involved.
  8. Coming at this from someone who lives in a state that, like Tennessee, has been essentially a one-party state for years, and setting aside the obvious racism displayed by the TN House, it's also an example of how these legislatures in the south aren't used to actually having to deal with dissent. I've listened to the term "bubble dweller" for years in reference to more liberal constituencies, but there are no bigger bubble-dwellers in America than these GOP reps in Tennessee. The maps are drawn and the legislature is rigged to where the opposition party is completely irrelevant... not just having majorities, but veto-proof majorities that make dissent all-but-nonexistant. So, yeah, not shocking that they chose to have a temper tantrum after realizing that there are a bunch of people in places within their borders like Nashville, Memphis or Knoxville who don't just love whatever they do... it's probably been years since these guys have received pushback on anything.
  9. Edman will set us straight I'm sure, but I was under the impression that Nevin was out of options
  10. Setting aside the usual whining and crying about younger voters... Guess who would have won the WI Supreme Court Race if you took out Dane County?
  11. I'd rather see Wingenter or Shreve in those situations, but even there those guys can't pitch every day. They are going to have to get leverage outings out of other guys.
  12. Time to fire up the bus for Jose Cisnero
  13. Turnbull getting really lucky today....
  14. Man, it takes talent to walk Jarvy on four straight pitches haha
  15. Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson.... reunited again in the lineup!
  16. I've seen some GOP politicians already encouraging law enforcement in red jurisdictions to bring charges. Which I'm sure will sit well with middle of the road suburban voters lol
  17. I like how Bannon literally comes out and says the quiet part out loud to all his confidants, as if he's some sort of strategic genius, only to have it all leak to Bob Costa...
  18. Any time I see this thread become active again, my reaction is generally "oh no, what did they F up this time?" Sounds pretty swampy from Clarence Thomas.... shocking.
  19. Self-applied nickname from his Phillies days
  20. It's still early, would like to see more from Vierling and Wolfie, but I am kinda glad Al didn't pull off a Soto trade last year at the deadline. Highly doubt he would have brought back ML ready useful players.
