  1. I'm all in favor of new term solutions, but they aren't necessarily a panacea and it's not clear that even the incident that took place in Nashville would have been avoided through specific changes. That's the irony of people (not necessarily Tigeraholic, but the gun nut pols who aren't interested in doing their jobs) who use 'hardening' as a means to avoid the elephant in the room: they will often argue or complain about people bringing up specific gun control measures that wouldn't have applied during a specific mass shooting, but yet will point to specific safety measures that may as well not have applied during same specific mass shooting. Same difference people lol
  2. The beat writers obsession over "old friends" in general is puzzling. I have never understood it.
  3. My favorite is how people are invoking Harold Castro in reference to Zach McKinstry. It's not like there's an up and down choice between the two players lol.... they had a choice to either tender or non-tender a contract to Harold and chose not to. And despite Harold hitting for average, it's not like there aren't other flaws in his game, such as his defense, which lower his (no pun intended) utility
  4. Admittedly I didn't play as close of attention to Spring Training during the last couple of weeks, but I didn't realize he had hit a 2-21 skid at the end.
  5. Some more beauties under this tweet too lol
  6. Thanks for sharing. Has there been any reporting on security precautions taken by the school in Nashville? We have had a couple of incidents near me, including one in our school district, recently and the schools in question aren't exactly lassiez faire on security.
  7. Definitely possible... just commenting more on some of the overly negative reactions, particular from one former member. It's not like they gave up much to get him lol
  8. Not sure I understand why people on SM are worked up over the McKinstry trade tbh
  9. Aside from the absurdity of embracing "hardening" schools as the only solution is the fact that the United States has thousands of schools and higher education institutions. And along with that have facilities that are in varying level of condition. The kinds of security enhancements discussed, at scale, require a lot of money, and more than many school districts (particularly rural) can budget for. One imagines that full on replacing if buildings would be required in some cases. I dont think people think about how expensive and impractical a solution it is... I'll take Tigeraholic at face value in believing it to be a solution at scale, but (just as I remember saying after Uvalde last year) I'm more inclined to believe that policy makers who run to that solution do so for the same reason that they run toward mental health as an excuse: to run out the clock on the discussion of the incident until the event passes from the collective consciousness. And when the next one happens that goes viral to the degree that this one did, those same policy makers will pull the playback out and run it again. And again. And again...
  10. It'll be interesting to see how this season develops, but I do expect this new administration to utilize I-75 a lot more than than the previous one did just in general. So I don't think it'll take Baddoo long to be back.
  11. I kinda went back and forth on it because, really, both Baddoo and Carpenter deserved to make this team. But I think it comes down to the bat.... this team, while likely to be better than last year's team, needs offensive production from it's regulars and bench players, and Carpenter is just a little bit better on that right now. It's not hard to see him pinch hitting and having success over Baddoo as well. With Baddoo, it's the same as it ever was.... if he can hit consistently, he's a big leaguer who will see plenty of playing time. But that's the rub.... can he hit and get on base in the way that he needs to? He showed some signs toward the end of camp but the consistency is still a question mark imo. As far as trades go, that absolutely seems like a possibility.
  12. Also really surprised about Cesar Hernandez getting cut, but looking at his numbers, he really hit the skids down the stretch in Spring.... his performance may have precipitated going out and getting McKinstry, I dunno
  13. Unless McKinstry gets that spot.... he doesn't have options at this point Surprised by the trade. The bench is gonna be really lefty heavy outside of Vierling.
  14. Cody Stavenhagen speculated on his pod that Zack Short might still be here because other teams actually like him and he could be a trade piece. Sounds far fetched, but who knows...
  15. The "anti-anti-Trump" crowd may be the only folks surprised by this
  16. Kreidler is coming off of missing most of last year with a broken hand. Some consistent ABs In Toledo would be beneficial imo
  17. Not the most important detail, there's a lot going on in this clip... but it's hilarious how badly Trump botched the timeline given that DeSantis had already been elected Governor and was out of Congress during both impeachments Maybe he's just getting senile and losing his fastball, I dunno... many people are saying lol
  18. X If it's a thing that exists, it's almost assuredly too "woke" for today's GOP. lol
  19. Kreidler should start the season in AAA, he needs consistent ABs. If they are comfortable with Vierling as a corner IF, that's the easiest path to carrying both Baddoo/Carpenter.
  20. I missed this from last week, but Christ.. lol
  21. Carpenter with three hits today too... he's made a real case for making the team
  22. One imagines with positions still unsettled that Mr. Harris could move on some last minute DFAs from other clubs
  23. Another Jimmie P moment... "can't make it up, folks!"
  24. Last I checked, there were 5 reporters for every protestor in NYC
