A few years ago, the Dallas Stars had to fire their head coach (Jim Montgomery) because of off ice issues... I just remember how wild and toxic that conversation was down here where I live and, idk, it was kinda gross. Any number of reasons were speculated on. I believe it came out later that it was substance abuse, but he was ultimately the one to reveal and confirm it. As it should be

I don't think it's fair to speculate as to what might be have caused this to happen, fwiw.... just hope everything works out OK for all involved.

They did manage to get Reese Olson for Daniel Norris last year, which looks pretty good considering how poor Norris' numbers were. But I don't know if that's a reasonable expectations to get a deal like that again. The problem I see for the Tigers at the deadline is that, outside of Chafin and Fulmer, you have a lot of veteran guys on this team who would ideally be bait who have horrendous numbers so far, with little indication of much upside on return. And other guys who could be appealing, as you suggest, are bullpen guys like Lange and Vest who, given their age and how long they can be controlled, I have a hard time seeing them getting value that makes the risk of trading them worthwhile. Maybe if Schoop can go on a tear for a while in July, he could be interesting to teams, but idk, they are in that weird spot where none of the options make a lot of sense.

I would just add that, regarding the grift portion of the hearing today, that may be talked more about in future hearings, while there's a tendency to demean and mock those who contributed to the cause, but those who did and felt that they were doing so in good faith deserve the right to be educated. With that information, they can take it or leave it, but I don't see educating the public on how this campaign may have systematically defrauded people as a useless or fruitless endeavor. Regardless what (if any) macro political impacts it has.

That's pretty important.

I'm not a political historian, nor are a lot of my family or friends who may be following this. But people still want to understand what actually happened as opposed to just saying "he's always been a fraud, nothing is gonna happen to him, who cares, nothing matters". And from that knowledge educate future generations on what happened here in order to help future generations avoid the mistakes that we made by electing this clown. Because, while I don't know what comes next, but Trump is gonna die someday... and, along with him, a lot of his influence. And they may have the opportunity to fix a lot of the wrongs we are seeing today. I know this is probably a bit "glass half full" for this board, but being constantly negative all the time accomplishes nothing.

I don't have many hopes that much will arise from this, but for reasons of history and knowledge, it is a good thing that they are getting this on the record and giving the public the opportunity to learn from it. And doing so in the most sober way possible. I get that there is a desire for certain political outcomes to arise from this, but the idea that nothing comes of it doesn't mean that the exercise isn't worth it or doesn't make it meaningless.

Graph of the day! An offense so bad that the Y-Axis is off center lol

Keep bringing it up, but they have done a lot of reorganizing over the past 12 months in minor league development, so one would hope that could help produce more results. Who knows, maybe that helps account for some of the improvement for guys like Wenceel Perez or (to a lesser extent) Parker Meadows. But in general, I don't blame people for being pissed off at Al. I do think the overall explanation for their start needs to account for guys with track records not performing to potential, but the reality is that they would be relying less on guys from the outside had they developed more in house as opposed to relying on the Grossmans or Schoops of the world and hoping that they didn't regress.

He's still awful and terrible, but it was effective.

Bill Barr literally laughing at Dinesh D'Souza's ****** movie

Wow, Bill Barr....

Does Sidney Powell still hold any law licenses? Probably should not.

Considering he lost his job for doing his job effectively, he can be forgiven for being a little outraged lol

Stepien may not be on site for this hearing, but his video clips are still damning as hell.

I also don't view him is as valuable a commodity to other MLB teams as much of the Tiger fan base does... there's no way the Mets are gonna clear out Buck Showalter just for the opportunity to bring on AJ Hinch. Or any other contender for that matter For better or worse, this fan base has an inferiority complex whereby we are lucky to be graced with Hinch's presence... the reality is that he has had a big hand in assembling this roster and supposedly in some of the minor league development hires. The success and failures of this team will reflect on him in the eyes of the league.

Greene isn't on the 40 man, which means they would have to DFA someone (probably Jacob Barnes). But I agree nonetheless

I know you're trying to be sarcastic, but believe it or not, the Tigers actually have a better record over the last 10 games than the Sox. It matters, regardless of how bad the offense has looked.
-
On the plus side, the White Sox have basically burned through their entire bullpen against the Rangers today.

He will be here next year.
