  1. Atem ball lol
  2. I'm kinda opposite, I would take a clunker on the pitching side if we would at least see some signs of life for the offense. Of course, they will probably now press since they are in a 3-0 hole and proceed to score one run lol
  3. Alexander getting way too much of the plate against this lineup... These guys are too good to leave balls out over the middle
  4. Congrats to Turner and Taylor for getting their first dongs of the year... Outta reach for sure now
  5. The ol' slumpbuster for Mr. Turner.
  6. I don't know that Tucker could have gotten him.... He had a heck of a jump
  7. Won't be seeing Kreidler for a few months looks like. Tough luck
  8. Shocking, I know
  9. No Castros at least lol
  10. Nowhere to go but up for Meyers, who was absolutely raking for much of the first few weeks in Lakeland.
  11. The more recent Super Bowls and relative success compared to the Lions obscures what a joke of a franchise they are.
  12. It kinda depends on what "lost" means to people. If lost means missing the playoffs, then yeah, it would take a miracle. If it means ".500 ball", I still think they have a decent chance for that. The big thing is that, just as they got going offensively last year, I don't think the anemic offense will last forever.
  13. Right. As for this series, it's hard to expect them to win the series or anything, but I would accept just any evidence that they are moving in the right direction offensively... maybe steal a game, but just show something on offense. For as bad as the Tigers have been, this has been a pretty brutal opening schedule. It doesn't absolve them of their poor play, especially given that they've frittered away at least a couple of winnable games (two that come to mind are the Barnhart drop game against NYY and Tuesday's game against MIN) but they've played some teams that are pretty difficult and, in the case of Colorado, may have caught them at the wrong time. Looking ahead on the schedule, May could tell the tale on which way this team goes, ie. whether they can overperform expectations or whether they struggle just to get close to .500.... they have more favorable draws (2 against Pittsburgh, 5 against Oakland, 3 against Baltimore ), some draws with good teams who are underperforming expectations (4 against Houston, 3 against Tampa), and a whole slug of games against divisional opponents Cleveland and Minnesota. It's a slate of games where they, theoretically, should be able to make up some ground. But, like you say, they need to get their act together.
  14. So if 2021 is prologue with this team, they basically snapped out of their offensive funk on a trip they made to a play a difficult team (Boston) where, while they dropped 2 of 3, they put of 7, 6, and 9 runs in succession. And that series happened to fall in proximity to 2021 NFL Draft Weekend. Does that moment happen this weekend? Color me skeptical lol
  15. Should be noted, for all the Harold talk, that Kreidler is on the IL... hopefully nothing too serious
  16. Didn't realize this was the political forum?
  17. Wenceel Perez starting to get hot at WMI... maybe following Meadows soon?
  18. Yep. I'm more positive than most around here, and I know that Hasty draws paychecks from the org. But it's a fine line between keeping things positive / upbeat and showing contempt and gaslighting the fanbase who clearly sees poor results / poor play after 18 games. And he is straddling it.
  19. Agree with this. We're carrying part catcher/part utility outfielder who isn't great behind the plate and untested in left field, another catcher, and two utility infielders (with the same last name) who hit singles but can't play defense. They could change this situation today and improve the defensive options off the bench (and possibly the offense, given how things have gone so far) with a couple of roster moves, but they are too stubborn for that. Particularly with the Castros...
  20. Not even sure what to say other than "lol"
  21. I'm not to the point where I'm revising expectations downward (yet), but it's increasingly looking like they're going to have hit my number by doing something similar to what they did last year. And that's pretty disheartening. It's hard to keep a glass half full with this team when they keep starting with stretches like this. As flawed as they are, particularly with their depth on the infield, I do think they are better than what they are showing. And the pitching, IMO, is probably better than last year's team, will keep them in games and will give them chances to win whenever the offense does start to pick up. But it's hard to stay positive when the product looks as bad as it has the past couple of days. It's unacceptable really. And if keeps up, they will need to make some changes... baseball is a results game, and if you aren't getting results, you shouldn't be comfortable.
  22. I said this in the other thread, but if Harold Castro can't field any of the infield positions competently, time to bring up Kreidler. He may not be fully ready and maybe needs more regular playing time, but bring him up and rotate him around the infield as needed, or platoon him with Schoop/Candy for now until they get out of it.
  23. I live around a 6-12 baseball team down here, but at least they occasionally hit homers and have good ABs 😆
  24. To the extent that the system has any depth, its with pitching, particularly RHP. I really think Brieske, Olson, Faedo, etc. have promising futures. I buy that. But that doesn't help you when you are trotting the Castros out there every night. This is a league where guys like Alex Dickerson get DFA'd. I dont understand what the gamble is in trying to sneak Harold thru, or to option Willi to see what Kreidler and Clemens can do at this point. Might as well try something different. Would anyone even claim Harold if they DFA'd him?
