  1. That's the joke! (For all his troubles, he still managed a 2.11 ERA last year)
  2. Classic Drew Hutchison inning right there...
  3. Not even Chris McCoskey can say that with a straight face lol
  4. Eddie starting to turn it around some.... that'll help the bullpen
  5. At least Giolito looks wild today lol
  6. Guess we get to see Drew Hutchison today lol
  7. Gonna keep it abbreviated, similar to Lee: AL East: Toronto 99 wins AL Central: Chicago 90 wins AL West: Houston 94 Wins WC1: New York 95 Wins WC2: Tampa 90 Wins WC3: Seattle 87 Wins Detroit 82 Wins NL East: Atlanta 93 Wins NL Central: Milwaukee 95 Wins NL West: Los Angeles 100 Wins WC1: San Francisco 93 Wins WC2: New York 92 Wins WC3: Saint Louis 90 Wins WORLD Series: Toronto over Atlanta in 7 MVP: Ohtani, T. Turner CY: Bieber, Burnes ROY: Witt Jr., Suzuki
  8. First reliever of the year in MLB? Van Man himself, Daniel Norris
  9. 2-2, with 2 homers for Mr. Kreidler!
  10. Evan Petzold did an AMA this afternoon, some of the responses are interesting. His responses on Mize / Skubal suggest the Tigers have very high expectations for them this year.
  11. You're right, there's always a possibility. I just think that particular 'possibility' is treated more like a 'probability' by way too many people.
  12. I'd love for them to make another deal, but one imagines that the pitching market is pretty tight right now... as much as this sucks for the Tigers, almost every team is worried about pitching depth at the moment
  13. One way to look at it is that when Chafin/Funk return, two of these four will be gone. And the other two could potentially be gone when the roster size reduces down to 26. But potentially a rocky couple of weeks in the bullpen, but it will be interesting to see if any of them take advantage and push some of the others that are more established in the bullpen (ie. Big Joe, Foley)
  14. Well, this isn't ideal lol
  15. None of the three have much of a track record, tbh.
  16. I keep saying this, but there's gonna be a price associated with theoretically "letting it go" or "getting back to normal" particularly with the Eastern Europe/old Warsaw Pact states. And seemingly, though cold comfort for Zelensky and the Ukrainians who would like to see more, every day we see new signs of Europe/US going further than anyone ever expected on this problem. That could be seen, for instance, in Germany's President coming out and issuing a public apology for engaging in Nord Stream 2 with the Russians, for instance.... that was unthinkable 45 days ago. I don't see a way that the genie goes back into the bottle on this stuff... it's just a different world now.
  17. An odious man who helped maintain Putin's grip on power.
  18. Yeah, I think SP is where a lot of the disconnect lies. And it's sort of understandable given that Skubal and Mize both outpitched peripherals in '21. Personally, I do question whether one full season of pitching is enough to develop an expectation of what to expect going forward in their case. Once the track record is more established it makes more sense, but not this soon.
  19. I believe they mentioned on the telecast Monday that Tucker Barnhart wasn't a fan so the Tigers may be steering clear of this system at the start. I find it interesting personally
  20. Just out of curiousity, who would you think would fall lower? I'd be tempted to say the Guardians, but the quality starting pitching makes it difficult to get them too far below .500
  21. And the Tigers are still just a roster that seems hard to project. If you get a better result than expected out of the young kids, its not hard to see this team finishing above .500 at all. I suspect the models (and Law) aren't expecting a better outcome for the kids...and that's fine, they are all relying mostly on the data to inform their views. In a way tho, it's fun that the Tigers (along with the Twins and Mariners and a couple of others) are interjecting some unpredictability into these preseason projections. Most of the time they seem cookie cutter and, at the postseason level, like moving deck chairs around the Titanic
  22. Good for Keith Law
  23. Another good question here is how useful Paredes' WAR potential is for the Tigers if he's playing in Toledo all year because there isn't a slot for him in Detroit. As many have suggested, maybe both teams got what they wanted out of the deal and it makes sense within the context of their situations. But that doesn't get clicks lol
