  1. @Tigeraholic1 gets an extra day of rest
  2. Yup. He sort of comes across unknowledgeable about the Tigers situation as well. Not even just the question of whether they will or won't be competitive but just the overall makeup of the upper echelon of the minor leagues and how that fits with the big club roster.
  3. This is my view as well. Clemens may be entirely correct about where Paredes will end up in terms of a professional athlete (I'm skeptical, but who knows, the Rays always seem to find a way)... but even setting that aside, the reality is that there really isn't a place for Paredes to land in this lineup. He's not gonna be a 3B with Candy, he's probably not athletic enough to be a full time 2B (assuming Schoop's option isn't exercised next year), he's not gonna get the time as DH, etc. And the Tigers clearly seem to value Kreidler as the next man up, if for nothing else because he can man SS and 2B and play exceptional defense while, hopefully, providing decent offensive production. Additionally, Clemens really doesn't address the fact that Paredes was sort of blocked with this roster, and I suspect that part of the reason he doesn't is due to the fact that he doesn't treat the Tigers competing as a realistic possibility (he alludes to this at least once in the piece) and, perhaps, may be inclined to think they are in a situation where they can find Paredes ABs with the big club. Whether the Tigers can compete this year or not is to be seen, but the infield situation is such where Paredes isn't getting the kind of ABs he needs anytime soon here. So why the hell not trade the guy who is blocked for some value? Seems like everyone wins in that deal.
  4. Miggy needs to save some of these hits for the regular season lol
  5. YES having all kinds of technical issues in this broadcast
  6. Not looking good for Miguel Del Pozo...
  7. Better late than never
  8. I sorta did, although I live in the DFW market and follow the Rangers somewhat by default
  9. Definitely, he has the stuff and experience to be one of the quicker movers from the overall 2021 draft class.
  10. The 12 Hour Kool Aid Sesh continues lol
  11. Their business model relies on getting new blood into their farm system, so the pick may be the bigger chip here.
  12. I think it's more good than bad, although it's a tendency that causes the fan base to get squeamish at times. Earlier in the post-lockout session when Collin McHugh signed comes to mind (ie. all the good relievers are going away, Tigers need to do something)
  13. Madden / Smith break camp with the WhiteCaps
  14. Maybe it'll light a fire under him a bit... one can hope anyway
  15. Good problem to have
  16. Knowing how Tampa wins every trade they are involved in, they'll probably make a useful player out of Paredes lol. But you are right, this is a good move for him as well... he would have been stuck in Toledo otherwise.
  17. If the EU/NATO didn't have the Baltics or Poland or other former Warsaw pact states, I'd be more inclined to agree. But they do, and as such there are internal costs that come with pulling back as well. Tend to believe this is underrated when people speculate on whether there will be a pullback or when/if the west will thaw relations with Russia.
  18. Understood, all good points.
  19. Not a military expert, but Mark Hertling suggested in a twitter thread that a reconstitution of their forces is going to be really hard to achieve. And success isn't guaranteed.
  20. Isn't part of the issue though that the resources needed to accomplish these sorts of goals in a negotiated settlement would require a massive escalation from their current posture? Not to mention changes on the ground to bring order to their effort? At least from what I have read, Russian state media has been selling this entire engagement as being small scaled in nature and one that is going about successfully. Embodied in their Orwellian framing of a "special military operation" when in fact they are engaging in all pit war. My question is twofold: how do you ramp up resources (ie. More conscripts/troops) while continuing to maintain that your "special military operation" is limited in scope? How do you get whatever remaining units/equipment from the northern theater (ie Kyiv, Belarus) needed in the east when you have had logistical challenges throughout the entire conflict? Much of which will all have to take the long route from Belarus, along the Russia border to Rostov before reentering theater? That ain't gonna happen overnight. I guess my point is that, despite falling victim to sunken cost fallacy and accordingly remaining motivated, it isn't written into the stars that Russia will achieve even their secondary objectives out of this... maybe they will, but it'll require a turnaround that, this far, hasn't appeared yet.
  21. Can he do it outside of spring? Same as it ever was lol
  22. Wow, Campos crushed that ball
