  1. Another competitor in the SS market down, possibly one of the better contenders for Correa's services.
  2. That's excessive
  3. The fact that they haven't managed expectations well is a big reason why I think they're ultimately going to get one of them.
  4. One guy we haven't talked a lot about is Corey Seager.... his camp has arguably been the quietest of the five. I wonder if the speculation that he may have to move off short in a couple of years is a factor with him
  5. I think a lot of the reporting is interesting and impacts my view of the likelihood of signing Correa, I just don't buy the idea that anything that anything that's been reported to-date means that signing Correa is impossible. It all looks like a negotiation to me, a lot of which is playing out in the press. The Tigers are trying to get the best deal for their money among the five shortstops, Carlos Correa is trying to get what he thinks he's owed. And with respect to Correa, who knows... he may think he's worth 10/341, but maybe he'll find that no teams think he's worth that.
  6. This may take another team out of the SS running
  7. It would likely be a massive overpay if the Mets matched or beat other offers, especially since he'll be a 2B there.
  8. Generally speaking, it's not clear to me that the free agents have as much leverage as we assume either. I'm sure the CBA figures into that as well.
  9. Texas is the only one I see who would do it for Correa. Maybe. It just seems like this is all part of a negotiation. And the Tigers, for their part, may just be trying to get the best possible deal for one of these guys versus just going hog wild and giving Lindor money away without doing due diligence. We don't know. I feel like people just see Jon Heyman tweets and lose their minds without understanding that there are motives to any leak.
  10. Sure. But as of the moment, based on reporting, who is the team aside from the Tigers likely to give Correa more than 300 million? Can you name the team that is sitting out there who will give him Lindor money? I don't have an answer for either of those questions at the moment. Doesn't mean they don't exist, we just don't know
  11. Just to expound upon this... In terms of Correa, a lot of time has been spent on the Tigers willingness to spend $300+ mil, not much has been spent talking about whether others are willing to give $300+ mil for Correa's services. Do we really know that others will at this point?
  12. Lynn Henning retweeted it lol. I do think he makes a fair point in that it isn't clear who out there may have offered more for Correa than the Tigers. It's the best natural fit on a number of levels.
  13. Now this is an interesting theory. Throughout this offseason, it really hasn't been clear that anyone is more interested in Correa's services than the Tigers. Rangers maybe?
  14. That's a fair point
  15. Exactly... likely means the Mets are out of the running. Less competition. Doesn't mean they'll get him, but I think the likelihood just increased a decent amount
  16. Uhh, this is sort of telling
  17. Could also be talking him up for a future trade as well, especially if they do land a big fish.
  18. Not sure how I feel about Baez being one of their top targets, although it has been amusing seeing Mets fans on Twitter being surprised that he may open to leaving them for the Tigers. Like, they are a dumpster fire atm lol
  19. At this point, I'd be surprised if we didn't get one of the Top 5 guys.
  20. I see what you did there lol
  21. I'm sure everyone who posts on this board agrees that making bad decisions is not OK. At the end of the day, insofar as I can tell, this comes down to the fact that some posters are insufficiently outraged in the eyes of other posters. Not much more to do than just agree to disagree.
  22. Dont tell me that, tell all the people on the thread that wanted him fired after today that.
  23. I mean, does much matter at the moment? I'm amazed at how much passion there is in this debate over Dan Campbell given how low stakes it is in the grand scheme of things. This is a historically bad football team... it's not a huge shock to me that they are struggling to win games. The previous regime left a flaming dumpster fire behind... different sport, but reminds me a lot of the flaming dumpster fire Randy Smith left behind pre 43-119 for the Tigers. Maybe Dan Campbell is a failure in the long run. Either way, canning him and bringing someone else in right this moment does not fix this. It just doesn't. The only thing that even begins to fix this is fixing the personnel
