  1. Just think how good they would be with a regular at 3rd with 39 home runs and 70+ RBI. Bottom line is they would be a better ML team right now. Yes, it would cost some players who may someday play in the majors...or may never. There's a reason all the serious contenders were going after Suarez...make the team better.
  2. WAR...Saying Suarez would be a downgrade? I guess he must make 6 or 7 errors a game? Of course, WAR varies from one site to the next... I hate to say it but every time he hits a HR, there are going to be people complaining about it. 🤣🤣
  3. They must have improved in the last 6 to 8 weeks since that article came out showing them dead last. But the point is, Suarez would have been an offensive upgrade. Unless his defense is SO horrible, it cost up games? Stats are wonderful until people start cherry picking certain stats to show the positives or negatives of certain players. 36 home runs and 70+ RBI would be an upgrade. A late inning defensive replacement, if his D is that bad. Hinch has about 4 players he can put at 3rd base.
  4. Reds came back and tied it with 8 runs in the 8th inning. Just to lose in extra innings because of the stupid ghost runner rule. MLB has ruined extra inning games, IMO.
  5. OK, that i get. But I would question a stat that says Suarez, with his 36 home runs and 87 RBI would be a downgrade. I mean, his defense can't be that bad, can it? It just sounds like sour grapes...."you're not coming here and we didn't want you anyway." And I see some fans have the opinions that we didn't get enough quality pitchers. But I'll wait to see what production we get out of them. I say we'll be fine.
  6. Ahhh...I missed that transaction. Was that in the Morton trade? I never saw who we gave up.
  7. Collinsworth in mid-season form. He never shuts up.
  8. I agree to an extent. But having a stocked minor league system isn't just to bring guys to Detroit, it's also to use for trades. How many middle infield prospects does a team need? Or outfielder prospects? We'll never carry 4 2nd basement. Or 7 outfield minor league prospects. OTOH, I'm pleased we didn't trade our top prospects.
  9. Yeah, apparently there's been more production there. This was from the end of May/early June; https://www.si.com/mlb/tigers/news/tigers-production-third-base-continues-to-drag-franchise-success Don't say Suarez wouldn't have been an upgrade because of Comerica and questionable defense. His defense has been good enough for several teams over several years. And he was wanted by a few teams at the deadline. Sour grapes....
  10. Batting average, RBI and home runs?
  11. Yeah, I caught that. Kreidler? Or Baddoo? 🤣🤣🤣
  12. Scott brought Kahnle in. I don't see him releasing him. Hanifee? Hurter, who I like and think we need.
  13. The Tigers have the least production out of 3rd base in all of ML baseball. Also, we have 28 road games away from Comerica remaining. Plus the playoffs.
  14. Keep Kahnle and Montero to Toledo?
  15. Translation: he was scared;
  16. And our good friend Lynn Henning spends an entire article talking up all the "great " talent we gave up in trades. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2025/07/31/henning-detroit-tigers-parted-with-quality-prospects-in-beefing-up-rotation-bullpen/85461988007/
  17. Cubs got Willi Castro.
  18. First one as a buyer. Even though last years selloffs launched us into a playoff spot.
  19. Im not saying Charlie Morton is old, it's just his first baseball card came with a pack of Lucky Strikes. 🤣
  20. And Suarez only plays 3rd base? Hinch likes moving players all over the field. If 3rd base continues to be an issue, we always have the off-season to sign a free agent....Suarez. Or Bregman.
  21. In 2 months, when the Tigers wrap up the best record in the AL with a shut down bullpen, there will be a lot of fans who realize they underestimated the trade deadline moves Harris made. The present and future are bright!
  22. The guys who play 3rd base are fine with the Tigers missing out on Suarez. He won't be taking their at bats. They may not admit it, but no player likes to sit.
  23. I remember a game on CBC channel 9 in Detroit...Tigers at Toronto. The Underwood brothers facing each other.
  24. Minor league players are cost controlled for several seasons. Established players come with an expensive price tag and are either entering free agency or on long and expensive contracts. Baseball is a business to make as much money as possible. Winning is great but...meh...fans will show up anyway.
  25. I don't ever remember seeing Finnegan pitch so no opinion. His stats look like he's had a few good seasons, hopefully with our defense behind him he'll be effective. It looks like maybe as a set-up, 8th inning type? I sure hope he has....a change up. 🤣🤣
