Did you hear what Gibby said in the 5th inning when Javy was up? He said Javy has been swinging the bat better THIS YEAR! WTH games has Gibby been watching?
Yes, Cabrera struggles his last couple of seasons reminds me of old broken down Babe Ruth footage when he was on the Boston Braves. Just a shell of his former greatness. Cabrera is a sure Hall of Famer and was given an excellent sendoff by the Tigers and by MLB. He'll be remembered more for his greatness than his struggles near the end. Javy? Not so much. If the Tigers can find a decent replacement, it will be good riddance to him. Eat the contract and move on.
I agree but I don't think the Tigers will cut Javy until they find a replacement. You can't go into 2025 without the most important position player. If they go into next spring with puff pieces in the media about how much Baez is expected to improve....ugh.
I think the fans only hope is finding a young player who's blocked at the ML level to trade for. Maybe he's already in our system, I don't know. But with Javy's contract, I don't see us signing an established player. Too expensive and we're more than 1 position away from contending.
I agree. But McStinkys offense isn't much better. And his defense is a huge drop off. Javy is the best we have...and then there's the matter of his contract..
I love Javy's defense. And his baserunning, when he gets on base. But he's basically the worst hitter in MLB. Sacrifice defense for offense? I don't know...
I had to look it up, I had no idea what it is. Is a hitter breaking that bone just by swing or fouling off a pitch a reason to worry? I could see breaking it getting hit or fouling a pitch off of it but just swinging the bat? Maybe he hurt it sliding or playing defense the day before or something? It seems a bit concerning...
Went down a baseball rabbit hole looking up Champ. He was a favorite of mine when he played for us. I didn't know he had passed away. And I didn't remember he played against us in the '84 WS. Only 1 at bat, but still...
I wouldn't like him breaking that bone just swinging. Some type of impact injury would explain it better. Diving for a ball, sliding or hit by pitch. Just swinging a bat? I never heard of that. And it wouldn't be great for the future..
I can't argue with that. But maybe a strong leg will allow Campbell to try to put points on the board instead of going for it so much on 4th downs? Naw...I don't think so. 😅😅
