  1. We may need Bert's 6 runs tonight.
  2. A hit? Usually the 1st hit of a game has to be a clean hit. But Sweeney never got a glove on it. Weak sauce.
  3. Get to an ace pitcher early? Yeah, I don't think so. 14 pitch 1st for Skubal.
  4. A dry night for Skubal with the Tigers coming off of a loss? Bet the farm on the Tigers winning tonight. We need Tarik to give us 7 or 8 innings, a BP day tomorrow.
  5. Well, I don't see Nido clearing waivers but you never know. Some team may need a backup catcher. As for trading either Jake or Dingler? I don't see that happening either. Just speculating. IMO, the Tigers biggest need is an experienced closer. One who misses bats.
  6. I agree. Dingler should be our #1 catcher right now, IMO. Hopefully, Jake is only catching today for Skubal. But if the Tigers can get a shut down closer, it may take more than just a minor league prospect. I'm really not that impressed with our 2025 BP yet.
  7. With all the prospects at catcher, deal Dingler for a shut down closer? Somebody who can miss bats?
  8. Miggy was the biggest name, by far, that Dombrowski traded for. But getting Jonny Peralta for Giovanni Soto was a good trade. And getting Max Scherzer was huge. There were several trades that Dave used to help Detroit make the playoffs for several years. While most of us didn't like his methods, they did produce playoff teams. But I really like this current team and it's future much more than the teams with the huge bloated payrolls.
  9. Hindsight is always 20-20. Trading Suarez for Alfredo Simon was a big mistake. It's one of the reasons I don't like trading young players, you just never know. It's the Doyle Alexander syndrome.
  10. Cleveland-Twins suspended. 4th inning with Twins winning 2-1. They pick it up at that point?
  11. The Tigers could score 9 runs in the 9th inning and Guenther would still get the loss. He gave up 1 run.
  12. If the skies open and it's cancelled, wouldn't that wipe out the top of the 8th?
  13. I guess it's time to binge some more Bosch.
  14. A very rare Tiger game, non-competitive. It's great we're not used to this, the Tigers have a very good team.
  15. Dombrowski also didn't have high draft picks to reload our farm system. And he knew Mr. I. would spend the money for any needed players. Yes, he traded away several good players and a couple of them didn't bring a great return. But prospects....you just never know. Look at the Miggy trade, Maybin had a decent career and Andrew Miller had a pretty good one. But, money aside, the Tigers won that trade. And yes, Al Avila was in way over his head...
  16. McKinstry and Ibanez? Are they safe? The Tigers are getting close to a numbers crunch. 3 players returning soon, Meadows, Vierling and Rogers. Nido I can see but which other 2 players go? Baddoo and Malloy? And then there's Perez, who i assume we'll keep in Toledo?
  17. The rain is going to save both bullpens tonight. I hope everyone in the St Louis area stays safe, these storms can be deadly.
  18. Get an early lead and hang on. A rain (severe t-storm) shortened game?
  19. Colonel Sanders is on pregame.
  20. It looks like the rain will start about 9:30 PM. tonight. Too bad they can't move up the start time. And apparently, the next 2 games will be dry. Tomorrow, Skubal goes, so that's the important day...😅😅
  21. That is true and young talent is the way to go, IMO. But Dave had Mr I. and his money to basically go after any player he wanted with a huge payroll. Trading prospects to acquire there expensive and established players? It worked, the Tigers were consistent contenders. It meant a weak farm system and a huge payroll that eventually caught up to the organization but it's much better than finishing out of the playoffs for multiple years. After all, many prospects never develop. Even most prospects never amount to anything. And don't forget, to draft Granderson and JV, we had to lose 100 games a year, or close to it. No thanks.
  22. I would rather have division wins, playoff berths and World Series appearances than several "prospects" in the organization. Yes, Dave plundered our organization for established players but I won't argue with the results. Avila traded all of the established players for prospects. How did that work out?
  23. Baseball....the Dodgers swept the Tigers in LA to start the season. OK, they're a very talented group of players. The Tigers won 3 of 4 from the Angels, who looked very bad. So the Angels go into Dodgers stadium and sweep the Dodgers in a 3 game series. Yup, baseball.
