  1. There were a lot of fans cheering on Flaherty and Canha this season. They played for about 4 months in Detroit.
  2. Whatever it takes. I'm sure there's more than one way to build a winner. Drafting and developing homegrown talent is probably the long way to go about it. Rebuilding a team that had bare cupboards isn't very easy, making just a few mistakes could set them back several years. Look at the White Sox...
  3. True. Money wasn't the objective for Mr. I. He was willing to spend crazy money in hopes of bringing a championship to Detroit. Those were some great years, a championship caliber baseball team...
  4. I saw it. That was early in the game, too. I'm surprised they allowed him to stay in with all that blood and problems with concussions in sports.
  5. I never heard or saw this. Pretty cool;
  6. Harris has said that the Tigers will spend when they're close to winning. To me it sounds like they'll sign 2 or 3 players to get them over the top. But I think most of us agree that we're not close to that yet? Another year or 2 of evaluating what we have and what we may need. Another off-season of 1 year Canhas and Urshelas.
  7. A successful Detroit baseball GM is all I have to go on. DD made many successful moves, trades and free agent signings, that made us a contender year after year. Hopefully Harris does the same. I will say DD had a lot of money to work with, but he was pretty good at evaluating talent and getting it here. Emptying the farm system for expensive proven players actually worked. But like we all know, the Tigers had one of the highest payroll at that time. That success is fleeting...
  8. Yeah, it's the lower draft picks that come out of nowhere that proves a good draft. Skubal and Collins were very good late picks.
  9. I think the rules say you can only lose 1 rule 5 player?
  10. No, a successful GM makes a boatload of money for a billionaire owner. And keeps the fans hopes alive for producing a winner....in the future...always 2 or 3 years away.
  11. Of course not, I'm not a baseball GM. Look at what other successful GMs have done thru the years. Bringing in established players would increase payroll and, if it were trades, empty out our minor league system. But look at his last off-season moves, he traded for Canha, signed Flaherty and Chafin. All gone for borderline prospects. Yeah, we wouldn't have gotten anything for them but are we closer to contending than we were last week? What's the timetable? 2026? 2027? Not strictly thru the draft, sometimes a major trade needs to be made.
  12. Significant trades. Bringing in ML talent, not borderline minor league talent.
  13. Can you imagine the nightmare of being called into the managers office and being told you've been traded to the White Sox? I would say it's time to put an application in at the local Amazon warehouse. 🤣🤣
  14. I think many fans are missing the big picture of the trade deadline moves. The Tigers traded away 3 established ML players and didn't receive any players for the major league club. Will any of the new players make the majors? We'll see within a couple of years. And while Canha and Flaherty weren't signed past this season, Chafin had a team option. Being sellers, again, at the trade deadline, stinks. May as well get something for players who are going to walk. Is there hope for next season or will it still be an "evaluation" year? Harris may need to make off-season trades to bring ML talent here. We need pitching...starters and BP.
  15. I'm wondering if Harris dislikes his old employer so he sends talent to the Dodgers?
  16. Interesting article; https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/jack-flaherty-trade-grades-why-dodgers-and-tigers-both-earn-a-in-deadline-move-for-starting-pitcher/
  17. 3rd base is covered if Vierling sticks there. I would try for a 1st baseman and at least 2 starting pitchers.
  18. The Tigers should have a lot of money this off-season. Chafin and Flaherty were both free agent signings and Canha had a team option picked up. (I think). And none of the players we received were/are huge payroll guys. Harris is building right...getting talent depth. And collecting shortstops...lol
  19. He got Vierling in the same trade as Nick Maton so that ended up being a good trade for Soto and Clemens. So yeah, the only other thing I could complain about was letting Candelario walk for nothing. But he was new then...
  20. I see several names...confused..
  21. But the Tigers do have the option of keeping him and either taking the comp pick or extending him. If a playoff team wants to increase their chances, they'll have to pony up...
