Conditioning pitchers to go 4 innings or 70 pitches last season seems to have backfired on Hinch and the Tigers. Including Turnbull, 60% of our expected starting staff is now injured. Manning and Mize the latest to go down? Hopefully, they make it back. If they need TJ surgery, get it done and don't play around for 2 or 3 months. Hopefully, Skubal and Alexander don't get injured too. Our SP depth is going to be tested quite quickly. Like Sparky used to say, "You can't win the division in April but you can lose it"

That's 6 guys off the current roster? Depending on available options, I think Vest, Foley, Barnes will all be gone. Position players? Reyes? Maybe not carry 3 catchers? Hopefully Grossman isn't hurt too bad. Groins can be hard to heal in chilly weather. Better off being safe and wait until it's totally healed before playing him.

Exactly. I saw flashes of him last season and I still say if he can get some experience, have some success and gain confidence, he'll have many more good outings than bad ones. Basically, he's a kid. 😄

It looked like Chicago's game plan was to make Tiger SP work hard and get them out of the game. Our SP will be fine, we have depth and not too much should be taken from the first time or two thru the rotation. But our hitters? 2 hits? Chicago pitching isn't that good.

Remember that time Leyland went off on the team for just going thru the motions before a road trip? Not saying Hinch should, just remembering better days....

The Tigers just looked flat today, no energy. I don't know why. But no fight in them at all. Surprising.
