  1. The way I understood it, Matthew had to agree to go to whichever team wanted him.
  2. I'm not arguing, I just wonder what's wrong with the source? Did you read the thread? I never heard of the guy but he sounds legit.
  3. This doesn't sound like very good news;
  4. What is the normal % of ICU capacity? Hospitals don't have hundreds of beds/rooms sitting empty. They have to make money and having nurses and doctors just sitting around and beds and rooms sitting empty isn't SOP. We're heading in the right direction. We just need a bit more patience. This lull will start showing up in the hospital stats really soon. But the unvaxxed? They better stay home and hide in the basement.....🤢🤢
  5. The minute cases are reported down, people will want to drop all precautions and mandates. It's happened before and it will happen again. But hopefully, there won't be another variant or if there is, it will be even more mild. Hospitalizations and deaths we see today are from cases 2 to 5 weeks ago. Hospitalizations will be coming down rapidly. Hopefully for good, our HCW need a nice long break.
  6. Actually, I've read that people who recover from an infection and then get vaxxed have the best protection. But...I'll just rely on the vaccine. 😑😑
  7. Yeah, the media glorifies it. Ratings are all that matter to them. They prolly want Trump back in office, ratings gold...
  8. Around here, very few people wear masks at the grocery stores. Close to 50-50. Our restaurants don't require vax cards. There's really not much restrictions, other than some schools. And in Canada, there are huge protests going on. If Omicron rates drop again in the next couple of weeks like they have been and no new variant pops up, I could see a rush to eliminate mask wearing.
  9. I don't agree. I think people all want an end to covid and to masks. And again, there's some evidence that cloth masks really don't offer much protection. If cases keep dropping this quickly, maybe we'll see in a couple/few weeks.
  10. If 10 vaxxed people spread the virus among themselves, chances are very great they'll get a mild enough case where they won't need hospitalization. Throw a few unvaxxed people in there and there's a risk of death to them. So what you're saying is the heck with the unvaxxed? OK, most of the county is doing just that. There's no mandates where I live. But the hospitals really need a break after Delta and then Omicron. And again, the original reasoning was correct. The vaccine stopped the spread of the Delta variant. Not so much with Omicron but we did catch a break by it making the virus less severe. Look, as someone who's been vaxxed, you can go to restaurants. As someone who is immune compromised, I don't dare go to one.
  11. Agreed. My concern is the GOP will find someone just as bad as Trump, only intelligent. They have a pretty large base. The issues you bring up are all something that needs to be worked out, as Americans, rationally. Trump used to talk about ripping babies out of mothers and killing them. That never happened and there are rules about how far along a woman can be. I'm pro-choice but as a man, I'm willing to let a women decide. And as the numbers of Trans folks grow, they need recognition. Otherwise, it really is discrimination. And if religion is the reason some may be against it, they should be reminded about the separation of church and state. Their religion may not be the same as someone else's (or even lack of). And I've heard it said, over and over, that a pullout, after a 20 year war, was going to be messy. And don't forget who gave us the pullout timeline....yes, Donald Trump. I actually consider myself a conservative in my personal life. Would I want a loved one to get an abortion? Nope. But do I care if some woman 10 miles away gets one? Her business. But, back OT, how quickly will everything get back to normal? I hope it's not rushed like it was before.
  12. I actually had to go back to see why I would possibly quote you. Then I realized you were crying about needing to be vaccinated to get into a restaurant (where you live). So...once again, I had to explain basic facts about the vaccine to you. And yes, anti-vaxxers ARE nuts.
  13. I'll type really slow...try to keep up. Vaccines keep people out of the hospitals. Vaccines keep people alive. So yes, you need to be vaccinated to get into certain places. If you don't like it, move. Or stay home. I really dgaf.
  14. Restaurants, theaters, gyms and more. Because vaccines keep people out of the hospital. And keep people alive. Before you whine about getting picked on, I'm just explaining things we learned about the spread of coronavirus. You want to walk into a restaurant without a vaccine? All the people in the restaurant don't want unvaxxed folks spreading the virus. Science....learn it.
  15. I don't think I mentioned you. I'm talking to the idiots with a short memory who say the vaccines didn't work. I'm saying, yes they did/do work. As does correct masking.
  16. That's because SO MANY on the right are racist, sexist and anti-vaxxers. Look at King Trump. Is there an American politician as bad as he is on SO many issues? Or do you agree with his aggressive form of leading the GOP?
  17. Unvaccinated stats; https://www.cnbc.com/2021/08/24/cdc-study-shows-unvaccinated-people-are-29-times-more-likely-to-be-hospitalized-with-covid.html
  18. True. Some companies are returning manufacturing here. But trying to buy 100% American made products is almost impossible.
  19. And the Chinese can build an 8000 bed hospital in 3 days....lmao
  20. Cool...the vaccine worked. Pretty lucky.
  21. Agreed. People want covid to be over. I get that, I want it over too. But covid sets the time, we don't. I mean, I want winter over now but what I want and when it ends isn't up to any of us.
  22. People with short memories need to be reminded. The vaccine was developed for the Alpha and Delta variants of covid. And the vaccine worked very good against the early variants. It's why such a huge % of hospitalizations and deaths were the unvaxxed. And the vaccine protects against hospitalizations and deaths from the omicron variant.. I really can't believe you didn't know these basic facts.
