Remember Leyland hitting Kelly in the 2 hole, in the playoffs AT Yankee stadium? And then looking like a genius when Donny hit a 1st inning HR? Or was that just a dream?
-
Walker was playing very good ball last year. He was hitting very hard. And then hitting even harder. I would say it was very important keeping him. Very glad we kept him. A++

Just need to cut out the rotten parts. We need to find a Donny "Baseball" Kelly type. Or a Ryan Rayburn type. 😁
-
Sign Freddie Freeman and trade Torkelson to Cincy for their entire pitching staff...lol Or...trade Clemens for Castillo, straight up.
-
Yeah, apples to oranges. Throw out last season, first 40 games or not. We're a totally different team. Kinda like comparing our 2005 team to our 2006 team.

People who are predicting their record based on last season.

I've read that championship teams are built by being strong up the middle. Look at the upgrades we made at catcher and SS. And if Greene is a ROY candidate, we're going to be very, very good. Then we have the young pitchers with a years experience under their belts. So I don't understand people judging us by our record last year, especially the first 6 weeks when Hinch was learning what his players were capable of. The Tigers are a team on the rise and it shouldn't surprise any "experts" when we make the playoffs.

90-72. Win the division.

And the Braves extended him. 8 years for 168M. Just how much was Freddie Freeman asking for?- 1,851 replies

I would bet your last dollar that they'll finish over .500. 😁😁

Give up major prospect(s) for 2 years of him? A very hard pass. Maybe a couple AA players? Ugh...I hate trading possible quality players. I say pass...- 1,851 replies

I agree. It just..no...such a bad rule. I mean, I get the reasoning, trying to squeeze 162 games without playing until mid-November but people who don't like the DH have to hate this.- 1,851 replies

Maybe going back to starting a runner on 2nd base of extra inning games. I don't like it...- 1,851 replies

Yeah and he would eat innings. But I just wouldn't give up too much for him.- 1,851 replies

I've never watched Castillo pitch but looking at his stats, they aren't really impressive. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/castilu02.shtml- 1,851 replies

18 point lead? Poof.... -
It is. But Torkelson has to hit this spring. There's no way he'll come north with the same stats as last spring...1 for 27 with 16 strikeouts.
-
I would love to see Torkelson in Detroit this season. I'm just not sure he'll be ready by opening day. Mid-season callup?
-
You can never have too much pitching. The Free Press named about 5 or 6 possible free agents pitchers we could still sign.
-
I thought I was really mad at MLB. I was wrong. I'm so excited and I just can't hide it...🤣🤣

LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?
Sports_Freak replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
I agree. I would much rather see a professional hitter in the box than some pitcher that has a slim chance of even hitting the ball. Also, with the huge wages involved, I don’t want to see my pitcher trying to swing the bat or run the bases. It's a bit like watching paint dry.- 1,851 replies

My list would start with Juan Gonzalez. He's far and away on top, nobody close. In a distant 2nd place would be Max Scherzer.- 1,851 replies

I agree but more divisions means more artifical races that keeps fans interested. I hated the 1 game playoff, I hope it's gone.- 1,851 replies

Let teams put 7 fielders standing in a line for all I care. It's stupid to try to make rules about the shift and its also lazy player development. Wanna get teams to stop shifting? Very easy solution, teach hitters to use the whole field. Hit it where they ain't.- 1,851 replies
