  1. I’d prefer to see Javy and Meadows platoon CF, Keith at 3B and McG at SS. Vierling the typical RF and Carpenter the typical DH. (Or rotate it and let Riley be the DH every few days) Then you can mix it up a bit and have McKinstry at 3B, Carpenter in RF and Keith DH against back of the rotation RHPs. With McGonigles skill set, you play him every day or why bother having him on the roster.
  2. I still have faith that Roberto Campos will wake up one morning and become prime Miggy.
  3. We should be planning to deal him at some point. There’s no way he ages well.
  4. So we will just expose him to waivers.
  5. I doubt there will be a salary cap with a new CBA, but I can totally see something pertaining to deferred money on contracts being limited or eradicated once a settlement is reached. That could very much hamstring some of the teams that you’d think would be all in on going after Skubal.
  6. The CBA is the hang up on us making a big offer to Skubal before the offseason. That’s it. That’s the reason.
  7. On those starts where Skubal is dominant but gets into a high pitch count and comes out after 5 innings, it’ll be real nice to have a legitimate multi-inning guy to follow that. How many times did Skubal go 5+ and leave with like a 1-0 or 2-1 lead, only for us to hold our breaths for 4 innings worrying about if we are going to get the good versions of Holton/Hurter/Hanifee/Kahnle? Having Anderson (or even DeJesus if he becomes that also) come in and go 2-3 innings and maintain the lead will be a welcomed upgrade and a huge boost to winning the division. We pissed a lot of good Skubal starts away last year.
  8. I feel like Drew Anderson is going to play a huge role this year in the bullpen.
  9. Javy hits .300, has a .297 OBP
  10. Don’t know why I put Skubal on that. That applies a lot more to Olson/Montero
  11. McGonigle will be my next jersey buy once he has a ML number
  12. We desperately need that since Skubal/Flaherty/Mize don’t go beyond 5+ much
  13. Well, we could sign Andrew Chafin again. Just got cut by the Twins
  14. Ah you’re probably right. I didn’t think he had pitched at all this spring
  15. Brieske too, right?
  16. Might as well swap the beer for Appie Juice, because that’s a baby challenge
  17. Tommy Kahnle to the Red Sox on a minor league deal.
  18. Kinda feel bad for Jung to be playing well this spring and still having basically no shot to make the team unless there’s a late injury. That said, it’s not like he hasn’t had his chances to make and stick with the team before. So he’s gonna have to tear it up in Toledo and wait for his shot. It’s nice to have some depth.
  19. Yeah. I was talking hypotheticals if Keith was RH
  20. I agree this is the way to go. Have a base lineup and then use Javy and McKinstry as the RH/LH utility guys. Rotate the OF/DH between Greene/Vierling/Meadows/Carp and Javy. Keep Jones as just a RH situational pinch hitter and let Wenceel force his way back up from Toledo or swap him with Meadows if Meadows doesn’t hit.
  21. I didn’t specifically mean McGonigle. Just Keith in general. Just saying that if Keith hit RH, it’d be easier to get him into a more defined position. We could’ve not re-signed Gleyber and put McG and Keith at 2B/3B, but we need Gleyber as a righty bat (and he’s a solid signing anyway—but absolutely necessary as a RH bat on this team.) Or you’d have the option of McG at SS, Javy platooning CF with Meadows and Keith platooning 3B with McKinstry and DH with Carpenter. As it stands, he just gets out wherever there’s an opening to keep him in the lineup
