If Flaherty is on, he will go 6-7 and help the pen. Mize being on probably is shorter than that. Doubt it’s a confidence thing moreso than a bullpen management tactic. Personally I don’t think it matters. Both guys need to give us QS to win vs Seattle.

Looking at game logs, it’s definitely been closer to true later in the season than it was earlier in the year. Overall you’re probably correct. We aren’t really scoring on any quality of pitcher.

In half of Skubal starts this year, the Tigers scored three or fewer runs. 6 times we lost games when Skubal allowed 3 or less earned runs. By comparison, the Rockies averaged 3.69 runs per game, which was last in the MLB If we had a league average offense when Skubal takes the mound in those games (4.45 runs per game), we could’ve won 5 more of his starts this year (15% more of his starts this year) Deep down, there’s gotta be a frustration with that for Tarik even if he doesn’t say it. If we expect this guy to consider staying with us after next season, the offense has to be improved next year—especially when he is on the mound. Granted, a lot of his matchups are against the other teams top starter—but we absolutely have to figure out how to improve there. Side note, we are only slightly below average 4.40/game in all of Skubal starts this year, but we only scored 6 or more runs in his starts 10 times this year and only 3 times post-all star break. So the numbers are heavily skewed by early season games.

5/3 is just such an awkward name. They should just do a total rebrand and pick a name that isn’t a cronenberg monster of language

They need to take the high road and just name it Tiger Park. They won’t, but 5th/3rd is the worst name for a company I’ve ever heard. Anything with a variation of that in it will be an abomination.
