At this point it’s probably worth it to just release Maeda for Flaherty.
Id much rather run with Brant Hurter as a multi-inning relief guy since he doesn’t walk many and limits HRs.
I’m good with that because it buys us time with Jobes progression, gives us a year to see how SGL returns from injury, and gives us one more year to decide what to do with the likes of Mize/Manning/Montero/Hurter.
Beautiful. 2 year deal for Flaherty for 35 mil. Opt out after the first year.
I like our rotation now. Skubal/Flaherty/Olsen/Cobb/Jobe or Mize. That will be verrry competitive in the ALC this year.
The nice thing about having a top 5 farm system in this instance is that most of them are in A ball, so aside from Jobe, we aren’t up there because of 2 or 3 prospects about to break into the bigs with nothing of note behind them. The system has both quality and depth.
Unless he comes out crushing in ST, I’d rather have Wenceel than Tork. I also have a feeling that Baez will start on the DL and have an extended rehab.
I’ll be curious to see how next years ballot plays out and also what you all think when looking at it.
Personally I only see 4-5 guys that I think belong in. Not sure there’s another 5-6 that are worth throwing votes on to help keep on the ballot.
I would vote for: Andruw, A-Rod, Manny, Utley and Felix Hernandez
I could be possibly be convinced on voting for Abreu, Vizquel and K-Rod
Out on Beltran and Pettitte
Yeah I can understand that….but once you get to modern day, non-controversial superstars….what’s the logic? Like once Albert Pujols becomes eligible….what could possibly be the argument for him to not be unanimous?
Yet I’m sure they’re will be one guy out there who will see an opportunity to insert himself into the storyline….
