But it's not an injury plagued year. It's an injury plagued career so far. Sometimes players overcome that and remain healthy for long stretches but it seems to me that many times that player never stays healthy and is always tantalizing but rarely delivering.

It wouldn't shock me to see him at SS to judge how he handles it with the thought of Javy in CF. I don't know how anyone can have faith in Meadows to hit or stay healthy.

A more likely scenario is Goff getting hurt while the Rams have a down season.....and the Lions trade for Stafford who then leads them to their 1st Super bowl.....IF the Tigers can win a WS with JV in the interim then all the Detroit sports fairy tales will have come true.

He's always stuck with me, it happened when I was a kid and it all seemed so unfair. As you get older you realize that life is unfair. We had a kid on my 7th and 8th grade football teams that literally was unstoppable as a RB. Last game 8th grade, tears his knee up and never plays again. Things being so different then he rode the team bus home before they took him to the hospital. 50+ years later and I still can hear him on that ride. Sort of like Billy Sim's knee, what might have been.......

And really, why not retire? He had enough $$. His kid(s) were set. Why not kick back and enjoy life? Too many people in this world keep working until they have enough money to splurge in retirement and then either die before they use it or get too old to do all the things they want to. Life's short man, exit the rat race.

Though I've had generals multiple times in my life I no longer want to go under if I can help it. This summer I was scheduled for a heart catherization and they wanted to put me under. I knew it wasn't required as I'd had one using a local in 2008. It took me weeks of wrangling and one cancelled appointment to get them to agree to it but in the end they did. All went well and I didn't need to worry about waking up. The older I've gotten the more I inform myself and take charge of my health care. All of that rambling to agree with the above that there are no "routine" surgeries.

I think he will too. I wouldn't be surprised with a shocker from another kid.....Lee or Anderson. Even Clark.
