  1. It's practically official: Javier Baez has turned into a pumpkin. Oh well—it was a good run while it lasted.
  2. Five-strike strikeout by Chase Lee right there.
  3. Ball call on that perfect 0-1 by Chase Lee on Loftin? RUN!
  4. You're a good man, Charlie Brown.
  5. Riley Greene raises his batting average to over .270 with a booming double while failing to extend his league-leading strikeout total. 😉
  6. Riley's batting average of .269 stands 54th of 169 qualified batters during a year where the whole league is hitting .245. That places him within the top third of all qualified hitters in baseball. Man, you have tough standards. In any event, Riley knows there are he has to fix: https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2025/05/31/detroit-tigers-riley-greenes-odd-dichotomy-career-high-production-career-high-chase-and-whiff/83966451007/
  7. Four and two-thirds of shutout ball while bequeathing only a runner on second is about as good a start as you can hope for from Keider Montero.
  8. And yet he's one of the best hitters in the league.
  9. Man, what a peg at second on that CS by Jake Rogers.
  10. I will not listen to Jason Benetti and Andy Dirks if Dan Dickerson is on the radio at all.
  11. Very unpopular. He's on his way to a 4-win season, is second on the team in homers and RBI, and he's still only 24.
  12. I dislike Coby Mayo.
  13. I don't necessarily think it's pointless, since it is a good indicator of how well you can develop players on the way up, but I owuld agree its importance in fielding a winner during a multi-year window is overblown at least somewhat.
  14. I think Hinch and the staff are trying to give Brieske as many leverage opportunities as they reasonably can before they consider demoting him to garbage time or worse. Fact is, though, he'd been relatively decent for the six appearances before this game, giving up no runs in six innings. The only really blemish is his tendency to walk guys, but he's borne down when he's had to. I think he'll probably get another leverage opportunity, maybe this week in Chicago if it arises.
  15. I have been a little nervous about the Tiger coming to the south side and losing three of four, or something like that. No reason, just baseball. They may get rained out at least one night, though.
  16. This is why Facebook is dangerous, especially since they removed fact-checking.
  17. Nihilistic forking ashholes.
  18. I don’t think e leaves before he gets a ring here, at least within the next, say, seven to ten years.
  19. I’m willing to believe that Josh Gibson is in the conversation of greatest catchers in history, but I don’t believe all of his stats came against competition that was major-league level to the degree the white leagues were.
  20. The other thing, which I’d noted, was that Chris got religion in 2022 about running the team properly. Chris did lose 114, 96, and 98 twice in his first six seasons. I don’t think we’ll be seeing that for a while now.
  21. Chris is and Mike was both part of the same Ilitch family that has owned the team since 1992. That’s what I am counting.
  22. Cal Raleigh is a third of the way toward putting together what would literally be the greatest season at catcher in the history of the world.
  23. Thirty-eight and twenty. Dayum.
  24. This has become a little more interesting than I would like it to be.
