  1. Do I need to be more scared? 😉
  2. I think it's worse than his devaluing himself—I think he had no value as it relates to belonging in Congress in the first place. He's just another performance artist who rode his own irrelevant-for-the-job fame into Washington, and now he's trying to make a name for himself there in what he's too ignorant to realize is the wrong way in terms of establishing a respectable legacy. Of course, if Trump gains power and upends everything, then Tubby will be showered with power and riches, which he can use to dispense patronage to his own sycophants. And really, isn't that what all these swampy MAGAts are striving for, anyway?
  3. The bigger point, I think, is that Tom Tubby is no Benedict Arnold, since Tubby is all treason and no valor.
  4. He turned down a 15/440 from the Nats, and he'll be only 26 next winter, so I think 12 years is practically a foregone conclusion. They were already talking about him a year ago being the potentially first 500 million contract, so now with Ohtani in for 700 million, 500+ for Soto is all but certain. I'm gonna take an early bet on 12/630 for him, and it'll be the Yankees, who are publicly disparaging analytics and going back to being the make-it-rain Evil Empire.
  5. I will put a dollar on he gets more than that.
  6. Anyone on a campus who uses the public square to call for the genocide of entire classes of people should be dealt with in a manner up to and including expulsion from school and prosecution for incitement speech, and administrators who acknowledge the presence of such action on their campuses and who do nothing about it should be dealt with in a manner up to and including dismissal from their posts. Now I would like to see firsthand accounts of people on campuses using the public square to call for the genocide of entire classes of people, and I would like to see examples of administrators who acknowledged this happening on their campuses and doing nothing about it. Hearsay and secondhand accounts will not be enough.
  7. Now just multiple these people by 10 million and you might see an actual voting bloc.
  8. Because in a land where the ignorant leads the ignorant, they didn’t do anything wrong.
  9. Well, good to know. I feel better about it all now.
  10. And 2016.
  11. Well, you can’t say he didn’t warn us in his projecting way.
  12. I don’t get that. What’s the idea behind it? Do they think overtly outlawing abortion is a bridge too far, but 15 days, that’s OK and will get them votes from pro-choice people? Or is this more an in-your-face gesture to tweak Democratic lawmakers for a goof? You know, like, “You want your dead babies, you Demon-rat socialist terrorists, here you go, have fun, ha ha ha”?
  13. Not true. Benedict Arnold was a master military strategist and a battle hero in the Revolutionary War.
  14. I have April 26 circled on my calendar. It’ll be interesting to see the fan reaction when Ohtani steps to the plate at Rogers Centre.
  15. Why do you hate the Mariners and the Blue Jays so much?
  16. The money is very nice, but I also believe a key reason Ohtani went with the Dodgers is that they are a winning organization who will give him a great chance to win a ring.
  17. Remember when shoplifting was out of control and connected to organized crime and terrorist groups and, worst of all, BLM and Antifa? Well …
  18. I agree Juan Soto won't get 700 million, but he probably will get more than he would have had Ohtani signed for "only" four-something. He might even get six-something now, which I don't think anyone would have suggested before the Ohtani signing.
  19. Ohtani will have better players around him with the Dodgers than he would have with the Blue Jays or Mariners, so their chances of making the playoffs and winning a ring will be higher. I don't doubt at all that he chose Dodgers because they are more of a winner, in addition to getting the highest offer. Elite athletes are hard-wired to want to win. They were also in the best position to offer him the most money since they generate the most revenue. I don't think the Mariners were in a position to offer 650 million. Even so, is there really a substantial marginal difference between 650 million and 700 million such that a player would choose to lose with a team to get that difference? I don't think so. I certainly wouldn't want to work at a terrible company because they offered me marginally more money. Hell, I did something like that during my own career and really regretted it!
  20. And the tickets are probably the least of it.
  21. Neither of those teams, in my opinion, are as likely to make the playoffs, and to win the World Series, as the Dodgers. If putting himself in the best position to win was his #1 priority, then he probably made the best choice.
  22. Angels should have offered 700.1 million.
  23. I'm thinking Ohtani is tired of not winning, and none of those teams are as likely to win a World Series as Los Angeles is in the near future.
