  1. It depends on whether Avila's team set back his development and how far, something we can't know now, and may never, but which is a reasonable thing to speculate on based on his overall tenure, so let the speculation continue apace!
  2. I might even go so far as to hypothesize that there is a significant correlation between the incidences of crosses, flags, bible verses, and the words "patriot" and "Christian" in X bios, and the idea the person is a bad actor cloaking themselves in such iconography to fool people, and who knows, maybe even themselves.
  3. Another mistake was jerking Tork's position around and pretending he could learn third at the pro level, possibly as a way to cover Avila's inability to find an actual third baseman. Although he did trade for a pretty decent one ...
  4. No I am not, but if Tork borks at first, then we've been left screwed, and even if it's not Avila's fault, he at least shares responsibility. How much it would be the Avila's team fault and how much it would be Harris's will be history for the winners to write.
  5. If true, then that's one more position Avila left us screwed on.
  6. It's possible a lot of MAGA are so retrograde they don't even acknowledge the existence of mental issues. "Show me where it says 'brain health' in the Bible ..."
  7. "I've been hacked!"

  9. I love how court decorum is so clear and unambiguous that they will not tolerate even the slightest breach. I'm sure judges overstep from time to time, but I'm confident that's not the case here. The point is that courts have evolved to never tolerate even the slightest contempt or else the legitimacy of the entire proceeding comes into question, which is as it should be.
  10. If you knew nothing going in about where people in the US lived, but you did know something about the arguments being made by 2A proponents, you might conclude from this map that North Carolina and South Carolina are the most densely populated states in the country and/or have the biggest, most violent cities in America. https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/charts-and-maps
  11. I don’t think Tork goes anywhere until he goes through arb at least once, I think. Or we stumble into a major-league-ready plus first baseman who’s controllable for at least a few years.
  12. This is probably closer to the truth. I think we’re in the rebuild of the rebuild now.
  13. I don’t think it’s gone yet. We still have Baez, we still have Rogers, Tork is still an open question. But, also, center field is not close to being settled and right field is not that much closer. We’re still in the process of clearing out enough rot that we can fairly say Al Avila’s thumbprint is still visible on the team. its true that we’ve made a lot of progress turning over the team but we’ve got at least another year, probably two, until we move past the point where his tenure has a clear and present influence on the team.
  14. Yeah I’ll give Wentz at least another game before I conclude he’s turned into a pumpkin. He’s been hitting all the right notes this year—soft contact, getting chase, swing and miss, strikeouts, ground balls. He’s looked real, so I’ll give him some leeway here, even though I was on the forefront of the Dump Wentz movement before this.

  16. Kendall Baker at Yahoo Sports AM thinks it's still this: Ohtani scandal deepens: Former Angel David Fletcher, who was one of Shohei Ohtani's best friends, placed bets with the same illegal gambling operation at the center of the ongoing scandal.
  17. May have been wanting to save the pen a bit for the upcoming crucial Royals series, and I am not being facetious.
  18. Joey Cora was hyped.
  19. So there you go, Ramage—you’re not remembering to not take it too seriously, as many fans often do. 😉
  20. This might help explain: https://sportslogohistory.com/about/ As a sports enthusiast growing up in Southern California, I considered myself truly fortunate. California boasts the highest number of professional sports teams among all states. With a total of 15 teams, there is ample opportunity to become a devoted fan of a specific team and sport. From a young age, I was intrigued by the Los Angeles Lakers, my favorite team. I often wondered how they came to be in Los Angeles and how they acquired the nickname "Lakers." Additionally, I pondered which arena the Lakers played in before the renowned "Fabulous Forum." The journey to Los Angeles for the Lakers, much like many professional sports teams across the country, holds fascinating twists and turns. Thus, I delved into the rich history of professional sports teams to uncover the answers I sought. AND SO...SPORTS LOGO HISTORY AND SPORTS TEAM HISTORY WERE CREATED! … Explore Sports Logo History and Sports Team History to uncover my passion for sports history! Enjoy my hobby, but remember not to take it too seriously, as many fans often do!
  21. Yeah, greed sucks. Any thoughts on owner greed?
  22. The difference between us and the Rays is that we have an owner who has proved that he will spend if he believes we’re on the cusp of winning (Baez, Eduardo), so In would give him the benefit of the doubt that he’ll do so again, until he proves in the moment of truth that he’s changed and he won’t. We may never become the Mets or Dodgers, but we won’t become the Rays or Pirates, either.
  23. Has he hit his limit?
  24. Would I throw years at Skubal to keep him around into the next decade? Hmmm … Throwing years at pitchers almost never ends well. As it turns out, with Boras at the helm, it’s a near certainty we don’t get a chance to extend him before he goes on the market anyway.
