  1. Norman Vincent Peale ran what snake-handling evangelicals would call a “cult”.
  2. I'm sorry, I fell out of my chair when I read "Christian Faith" and couldn't finish the rest of it.
  3. How insane would it be if Beyoncé and Taylor Swift showed up together and introduced Kamala to the convention Thursday night? Talk about electric! That would basically sew up the under-30 vote and drive record turnout among them!
  4. Awesome, they see AOC as someone they want on the inside and to give a platform to raise her profile.
  5. I'll be on the north side Tuesday and Thursday and on the south side Saturday! Then I'm coming into town for Red Sox-Tigers the following Friday. They're playing good, exciting ball with a good chunk of the future on the roster now, so, should be a good time to see them play!
  6. We have a shot at a ring!
  7. If he has another week even close to last week, they need to move him up to Erie.
  8. He’s not staying in Comstock Park for much longer.
  9. I think of "plateau" as meaning this is as good as Malloy's going to get, and I believe most of the rest of the world thinks of it as that, too. I have my doubts as to whether Malloy has plateaued. I think he has room to get better. I don't know whether that includes his glove, but if .700 OPS is his plateau, then we might as well start looking for ways to cash him in.
  10. Three games in and Sweeney is already toast? Hmm. But I do agree that he is not considered a top SS prospect, since he was brought up right away and not meticulously groomed. When guys aren’t actual prospects you don’t gently onboard them—you throw ‘em into the deep end of the pool. Jobe is in Erie walking five guys every nine innings. You want him up here right now walking eight or nine per nine? I don’t. McKinstry will go somewhere once we get enough prospect pieces up and we don’t need him anymore. Until then, we need him. Foley is a UDFA, so his ceiling was already considered low, and he has probably already broken through it and is peaking right now. I agree Tork will probably be on the block. I don’t think Carpenter will be. Navigato is basically Trey Sweeney in terms of upside. Gage who? I’m 100% with you on the rest.
  11. I hope he hasn’t plateaued as a rookie! That would make for a short career!
  12. Lowest common denominator announcers.
  13. I will say this—i do prefer a SportCenter narrated game account over the Quick Pitch clip show.
  14. Man, McKinstry was so dead on the play that even with the double-clutch, he was still almost out.
  15. State media.
  16. A lot of kids cheered that win. Very heartening.
  17. Very weird how Dominguez double-pumped on that throw because, again, “McStinky” would have been out by a mile at the plate. That saved Joey Cora’s bacon right there.
  18. Holy ****, the Comeback Kids!
  19. Wow, McStinky out by a mile! Well, he would have been if the throw were on line!
  20. Well, I completely went fatalistic on the rooting interests of the LL players. Kids from the Southeast team chanting “Let’s go Dee-troit!” And just like THAT we’re tied again! Thanks, “McStinky”!
  21. Sweeney’s was a minor leaguer’s at bat. I can’t blame the kid. But going the other way twice plates a run and now for some free baseball!
  22. Oh my god, a kid in the stands from Canada was clapping!
  23. Wait, was that a Japan player with a rally cap on and looking glum on the Tork strikeout?
  24. Shoot, Tork couldn’t take out Joey Cora.
  25. Serious question here: can counties’ votes be audited by some non-partisan entity? Or are we just taking their cross-our-hearts-and-hope-to-die for it?
