It’s a comedy bit. Are we laughing yet?

That’s what I was thinking, too. Aren’t you supposed to hang up when Tampa Bay calls sniffing after a particular player? 😅 This is great especially for the first half of the season, although I’m not sure what happens after that. We already have a hook-hitting left fielder with iffy D who rakes RHPs and struggles against southpaws, so now we got two of those guys. When Riley Greene comes back, perhaps after the break, who do we slot where? It’ll be close to the deadline and this should give us options, assuming Baddoo doesn’t turn into a pumpkin. I do like that Meadows is only 26, so there’s a decent chance he could be 2019 Austin rather than 2021 Austin. His BABIP was really low last year so that’s a sign pointing to yes. He’s also controllable for three more seasons, which means he could be tradeable the next couple of deadlines if, god forbid, it comes to that. I do agree that trading from depth to get a potential-impact controllable player is a very different move from the type Dombrowski used to make. I like the chutzpah of the move. Although I don’t look forward to Isaac Paredes becoming yet another of our guys who has an All-Star career in someone else’s threads. 😏

That's what happens to people when they self-isolate from polite society.

More like projection that runs through that whole movement.

We need to play our game. Just find a way to get it done. -
Here’s something you won’t hear about on Fox News or coming out of certain posters’ keyboards.

Somehow I don’t think it would take much to trigger that crowd on any number of topics.

Auto racing isn’t a sport. It’s an activity in which guys drive 500 miles in a circle. Five hundred miles in a circle?! Children can do that, for chrissakes! Doesn’t impress me. 😏

Since Jarrod Carmichael is hosting SNL tonight, I thought that this would be a good time to repost my periodic reminder that you should consider watching “The Carmichael Show”, a 2015 NBC sitcom that lasted three seasons. It has a very All In The Family vibe and the writing is very strong. It’s the show that also supercharged Tiffany Haddish’s career and gave a nice bump to Lil Rel Howery. https://www.hulu.com/series/631d2e71-dd54-4f16-8728-30bd550e1d12?play=false&utm_source=shared_link

They're right—lying definitely would not have any bearing on his ability as a Republican senator, if by "bearing" they mean negative consequences.
-
I see that Axios has gotten hammered in other threads as a Republican Trojan, the way Politico has been, but that doesn’t mean China and India aren’t actually helping Russia back on its feet, since that would pass the smell test. US ignores that at our peril.

Red (hat) privilege.

Amid the relentless firehose of seemingly all bad news for Russia, this kind of succor could be concerning.

That, or an indication of an old, even Tsarist, way of regarding their military: as expandable widgets, which can be easily and cheaply replaced if they’re “neutralized”. I see how the first part could be; I’m not so sure the second part is that easy.

Carrol O'Connor was also kind of a diva, according to the new All in the Family book by Norman Lear. Rob Reiner was just as loud at table reads and script pitches IRL as his character was on screen. Jean Stapleton, as a respected stage and screen actress, could make everyone stop in their tracks with a quiet observation or suggestion. It's a book with great insights about the show and the people.

I think one reason Bunker keeps flogging the dementia canard is because he can't effectively argue against Biden's actual work, other than the catch-all umbrella idea of "he's destroying America and the world", which obviously isn't a criticism of Biden's work at all.

Daz is one of the unfortunate class of Tigers prospect acquired under the previous development regime and who suffered from their incompetence. Derek Hill, our first round pick from eight years ago (!), is Exhibit #1. Alex Faedo, Beau Burrows, Cristin Stewart, all behind what their development should have been. Even Matt Manning took five years to finally make the team. Remember Jonathan Crawford? I barely do, but he got $2 million in the draft and is now out of organized baseball. And these were all first rounders! I have a reasonable expectation that we won't be seeing this massive level from the Hinch-led regime.

I think the only way those two kids flop is if they are chronically injured. As long as they can stay on the field, they are going to improve and produce for the next few years. I also believe the organization is getting themselves into a position where they don’t have to put all their eggs in a basket of two players and cross their fingers so they can win every decade or two. It looks to me they are building a sustainable system of player identification and development that will outlast Tork’s and Riley’s tenure with the team. As down as I have been on this owner and organization over the past five years, I am right chuffed to be able to say this and mean it!

That's OK, Cawthorn is only passing through Congress on the way to a permanent gig at some wackadoodle fringe right wing media thing, quite possibly based in Москва.

My wife and I are mulling over when to get it. Should we go soon as possible, or wait until flu shot season? We ask because if we get it now, will its effectiveness fade by the time late fall/winter comes? On the same hand, we're going into summer and it's not likely we'll have a big deadly COVID wave, so I wouldn't want to waste max protection on a time period during which the danger is diminished. On the other hand, getting it sooner makes us more confident to travel as we plan to go on long driving trips in both May and August. What to do ... what ... to ... do ... 🤔
