When I was a little kid in the early 60s, our Cub Scout troop went to Baer Field in Fort Wayne, Indiana where the then fastest rocket on earth, the X-15, was being showcased. And we begged the ordinary ground personnel to give us autographs and they were laughing about how silly it was, but they enjoyed doing it because we thought they were all future astronauts. It’s hard to relay now how the first astronauts truly were idolized. It was about heroism, national pride, and the idealized possible future that stood before us. It was pretty heavy stuff.

Me at the clinic an hour ago…. Well, I’m definitely not going anywhere today so I’ll be listening to this game on the radio. Tested positive. Relatively mild, only tired with a raw throat, but the whole family seems to have it. Pasta is the super spreader event. They’re giving me PAXLOVID™ so at least I won’t be communicative in 24 hours. GO TIGERS! It would be ideal if there were some inside the park home runs tonight. It would seem appropriate.

Unfortunately, I was living in Tucson, Arizona then. It would’ve been nice to relive the good old days

The Lions came back to defeat KC 24–23. This is a good day. Aside from the fact that my son tested positive for Covid and I’m stuck at home without symptoms avoiding him literally like the plague until he tests negative.

Completely agree. When he came back up this go round I thought he would be knocked around and he’s performed pretty well. He’s actually been a lifesaver.

Feel free to use it. I don’t get to see many Lions games on TV although in my heart of hearts I root for them. Because for me, “it’s all about the D…”

I like the Yankees old school plain lettered road jerseys. There’s a quiet dignity about them. This was also often the norm in the early 60s when I first began following baseball so I have a nostalgic affinity for this style. It’s the same style our ‘68 team wore but I like our current roadies which harken to a still earlier time. I wouldn’t be against those ‘60s roadies being worn on occasion though.

Hey, @Jim Cowan Woodsie is racing today in Vuelta a Espana the Spanish grand tour.

It somehow escaped me that this was a day game, and also that Tork had been called up. Nice to see that we have a lead at least for a while.

That’s no big deal at all. I was hoping that we’d really been cheated so I could go off on a tangent about how unfair the world is to us.

I would like to see the pitch that got the Tigers hitting coach tossed.
